I have sailed on Breakaway 2 times. First time on a balcony and the 2nd an inside room. Both times were great. The bed was very comfortable in both cabins. The color scheme doesn't matter to me. Not having USB ports is not a concern for me as I carry both USB and plug cords with me. As far as the light on the temp gage, my eyes were closed so I didn't notice it. The inside room was very quiet we could not hear any noise outside the cabin. The amount of storage in the inside cabin was adequate for us as we don't carry camera equipment and computers. I always carry a compact flashlight that I keep on the nightstand in case its needed in the night I do agree that a bigger TV is needed.
For the thermostat, since putting a towel over it will not allow airflow for proper temperature management, get a band-aid and put it over the lighted part. Many people travel with band-aids so you can borrow one if you don't bring them (I have kids so we always bring some).
After 27 years of not cruising NCL, we had great expectations because our previous two sailings. As of now, NCL cannot expect us to sail with them again until they get their act together. Our room had stuff on the floor from previous occupants. The rest looked clean, but who knows. We couldn’t get the balcony door opened, it needed grease. We couldn’t even sit out there because it was so dirty that even the railing and glass had sand and the floor had paint scrapping. You could tell it had not been washed in weeks. I can keep on going forever, the tap in the bathroom was loose. On Tuesday we finally decided to call the cabin steward because we had not seen him. The balcony situation was not fixed, only a little bit of oil, never went out on the balcony, even when it was the smallest balcony we have seen on a ship; can you tell we were upset?
Been on the Getaway multiple times in an inside and it was fine. If you aren't using packing cubes when you travel, then you are missing out. I am a notorious over packer and have had no problems hanging up all my clothes. I also use the cubes for storage (underwear in one, t-shirts in another, etc.) and they all fit fine on the shelves. As far as the beds, ask your room steward for a topper. Easier to make a hard mattress soft than vice versa. Sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise.
We didn’t enjoy our cruise as we know there are so many cruises that don’t require someone to buy packing-cubes to go on a cruise in an inside cabin. Of course this is a to each there own situation but wanted to note that there are inside cabins that don’t require extra purchases to live in. ☺️
I have stayed in a few interior cabins, but it was never that bad! I have never had a bathroom night light, so I bring a small string of battery operated lights and hang them in the bathroom. It's a world of difference!
I have sailed on the NCL Breakaway 3x and it's a great ship! Uncomfortable bed? Request a egg-crate mattress topper, I do with every cruise I take with NCL. Who spends so much time in your cabin that you care about the colors? Besides the isues with the TV you already knew the size of the cabin so not sure why that was a surprise.
1:20 I personally preferred the buttons when they were on my last Norwegian cruise. 1:40 The thermostat's light glow is less than the average night light, and many people like enough light to go to the toilet at night without disturbing their partner by turning on a room light. A piece of tape on a small piece of paper will eliminate that light. You booked the cheapest cabin possible on a cruise line that, on average, has cheaper rates than most others. It is a small room for that reason. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
We were on this cruise in a balcony cabin and our mattress was terrible, very hard. We had 3 people in our cabin and the storage wasn’t much more than the inside. I really miss having the Keurig in the cabin, they removed them after the pandemic. We ordered plain coffee for 2 from room service and they brought a tiny pot that we didn’t even get 2 small cups a piece from and it cost us $6 plus tip! We love Norwegian but they have a lot to work on!
I can’t imagine a stateroom with no drawers at all!!🥵 what on earth did you two do with your sizes, 6’2 and 6’4 is it? This room looks very small! Can’t wait for the food review!
What a great assessment of your cabin. Our balcony was a little bigger, no drawers, hair in the bathroom, not ours, and the TV caught fire while we were watching it and melted the cord. Guest services wouldn't answer the phone so hubby had to go down, stand in line to get someone to come up and change the TV! Pretty scary!
I do get there are some size issues but how much time do you really spend in your room on a cruise (or vacation for that matter…). I just got off the Prima and had a balcony for the first time. It was nice but a total waste of $ imo because other than sleeping and breakfast on the balcony we never spent time in the room. 🤷🏼♂️
I had an inside stateroom and it was fine. I was in there to sleep and shower. Most of the time was spent throughout the ship as I didn't go on a cruise to spend time in the room!
I’ve been packing my clothes on slim velvet hangers… just open my suitcase and hang them up and my main unpacking is done! I also know you. An ask for extra wood hangers from the steward as well as a mattress topper
I think you miss some of the storage spaces. Also I’ve seen other reviews of this room and they still had they stuff everywhere. You’re not using them. There were more lights in other places as well. He said you can request more padding for the bed too
@@JJCruise Oh well, unless I win my bid, I might be living there for a while. My only consolation, is that I believe I’m smaller than you two guys. ;-)
I agree with your assessment. We got off NCL Encore and we had a similar room and the bed was definitely the ugly, it was so hard. I asked my room steward for an extra comforter to make it bearable.
I looked at some other NCL ships on inside cabins- they all look the same size as the one you are in. Basic boxes just to sleep, shower, and change in. No sitting room at all. If you want to just sit and relax, find a public room with a chair or on deck). Want a place to sit on NCL? Then you have to go oceanview and up. It all depends on what you are willing to pay for. Oh, and for the extra plugs, bring a universal plug that has European plugs on it, so you can use the other two in the room!
I was on this ship in an inside cabin last year. Finding a public room with a chair inside of the ship was no easy feat for me as the atrium was always full of people parked on the limited chairs. It was not like smaller ships I have been on where there are plentiful places to sit and relax.
Lack of storage is a gigantic drawback, as is the limited USBs. I’ve cruised since 1985. The two NCL trips I’ve taken were outstanding, as far as the onboard experiences. However we had significant OBC issues on both trips. Guest Services said they couldn’t help and we’d need to make calls post trips. I won’t bore you with the details, but many weeks, emails and calls to fix. We had another NCL cruise scheduled on Sun to Alaska this September. I leaned I somehow had three separate Latitudes numbers. I would think it would have been simple to combine them. Told many times “all fixed.” Never was. They earned themselves a Cancel. The several other lines I sail have never presented such issues. On the positive side, this would be an excellent room for a traveling band of midgets. Thank you for your usual thorough unbiased expertise.
I take a small battery powered LED motion detector night light with me when I go on a cruise. I put one in the cabin aimed at the bed so if I get out of bed it turns on. I keep another in the bathroom so I do not need the bright light to fully wake me at night. You can get these for a couple dollars off Amazon and they really do help in the middle of the night.
NCL is my favorite cruiseline. That being said, I've NEVER traveled in an inside cabin, nor would I. Last time I was on the breakaway, I was in an aft facing stateroom. Both the cabin and the balcony were large... 2 weeks ago, I was in the Prima, amazing Staterooms, and in 2 months, I'll be back on the ESCAPE for the 5th time. Love NCL 💘
My Daughter had a solo cabin last month. awful, smelt damp and cheesy, no storage and you heard all the other guests from other solo cabins and although told no under 21s in these cabin, we are sure these were used as a nursery when we were on the behaviour of these guests were just no respectful. I had a balcony cabin and I was just as disapointed, the air con was on 24/7 the coldest setting which blasted right over the bed which made sleeping an awful experience, even though I reported this 3 seperate days nothing was done then they had the nerse to say they had no record of me reporting this issue. the cabin was well worn, bed had a dip in the matteress and sofa had bad staining on it, owerall one of the worse cabin I have stayed in. Also we bought the drinks package and when we arrive we were given option to link our credit card or pay for anything we bought by cash, we opted to pay cash. within 24 hours when ordering drinks, we found they stopped our card, this happen 3 times and reception told us it was due to not adding a credit card, even though our drinks were already paid for, so we had to add cash to the accounts for them to let us use the card ( how crazy seeing we had paid for the drinks) after this, early the next day the card failed again, we just couldnt be bothered with them any more. Norwegian only seem to care for those in the Have and above cabins, it is all about trying to get as much money they can get from you, not about making your time a great one. The ship was dated even though we were told it was only 6 years old. seating looked like it was over 20 years old. the whole time on this ship was awful, we could not wait to get off. we would never again cruise with Norwegian again
Did you tell your steward about the tv? I'd imagine if it doesn't work that they would either fix it for you or give you a new room if one is available.
We were also on this cruise in a balcony. No drawers in there either so my daughter would leave her clothes in her suitcase and have to go through it every time she needed something. She was pretty upset with this. Room was great otherwise.
We were in a balcony stateroom and had a little better experience as there was more storage and it was arranged differently but I totally see your point with the inside stateroom!
Thanks, JJ! I don't think I could cruise in an inside cabin. One thing I am very clear about is that I will not cruise on any ship that doesn't have Starlink internet service. We (my sister, Elizabeth and I) sailed the Norwegian Encore to Alaska last year... I did have a bit of work I needed to do, so we got the 'premium' internet package. It was HORRENDOUS. We had a beautiful balcony cabin and our steward was one of the kindest and most attentive people on the planet. I loved the observation deck and the 'freestyle' dining at The Garden Cafe. That internet was sooo NOT worth the money, however. As I have said, I will only sail on ships with Starlink now. Thanks for all of your great videos!🥰
Supposedly this ship had Starlink 😅 We weren’t able to confirm this but someone after our live said it did so we aren’t very certain what is going on 🙉
A few years back we were on the NCL Getaway and had the almost exact same inside cabin and thought this was the worst inside cabin we have ever encounter in more than 55 cruises. The storage was the worst ever even undies and socks had no room. Hated this cabin and will never do it again.
I thought for sure you were going to have video of our inside cabin on the Breakaway! I posted pics to your FB page on the ship tour video post! It was just such a bizarre room, and we didn't know it was an upper bunk room... let alone that the bunk would be intruding into our tiny, square space!
Did you check to see if other inside cabins were as small and lacking in storage? You never mentioned which room it is. How can we make sure we don't get it if we don't know what cabin number it was?
All Insides were similar is size unless you got a solo studio. There were many in our group who had inside cabins and everyone of them were just as bad as ours. 😌 We wouldn’t focus it on exact room number we would focus it on staying away from inside cabins on NCL Breakaway all together.
And in the food situation, the only two “hot” meals we had were in two specialty dining restaurants, in all the MDR restaurants and the buffet the food was always lukewarm. Imagine cold eggs in the morning? Celebrity and Royal here we come!!
I am surprised you did not bid on a upgrade. I book inside but always bid up and it’s always worked. I have been in many insides and NCL and Princess are the smallest.
We usually don’t bid-up as location is then out of our control. We did have a quiet, midship location which we could have lost during a bid-up. That said, it’s truly a gamble which could also end in a great stateroom with a great location!
I sailed in October on this ship in an inside cabin, and I agree that the storage was non-existent. I didn't mind the room as much as I never stay long in my room besides sleeping. You could not comfortably fit more than two people in this size cabin.
Thanks Melissa!! 🤗❤️ (The lighting was SO bad that we decided to mix it up 😉) We are so complexed by the lack of storage and charging stations. It’s not like there are other options to have luggage wide open in your cabins 😅
Thank you for the heads up… We have never sailed on Norwegian, and I'm not sure we have a would...Your videos are very well balanced and I definitely enjoy each and everyone of them ...Thank you.!!
We had a Balcony cabin on this sailing and the storage was a bit better but the couch wasn't comfortable and it still only had the same little stool that your cabin had. I won't ever be sailing on this ship again and it will be long time before I will even lookat NCL again.
I was just on the inside, 5704, on the Gateway, My 1st time on NCL for a 12 night cruise. My stateroom was just as you described, no drawer space or USB & little storage space, especially for 2 people. The space between the bed & the wall was so short that I large person would find is difficult to get in & out of the bed. I always had to go sideways. I have a small lighted clock that I put on the desk that was extremely helpful in showing the time where I could adjust the screen brightness. I sometimes sat on the ottoman with my back resting on the bed. Yes the lack of a chair but it would have taken up space in the room. My TV worked great but the TV programs were a joke. Around $10 just to watch a movie & not a great selection. Not having a plug in the bathroom surprised me as you could have put a night light in there. Your video would have been helpful prior to my cruise. Thanks for sharing. Great video explaining things just as they were.
You are right...that's a pretty crappy room! We sailed on the Norwegian Pearl to the Panama Canal. My sister was in an inside cabin and complained about how tiny it was. We stayed in a handicapped accessible room and it was huge!
Interestingly enough, we cruised in the haven on ncl the handful of times we cruised on ncl, and our TV did exactly 💯 the Same thing. Our tv was large however lol . Great video.:)
We look but you never get a full experience of the layout and true experience without sailing. We would never do this NCL cabin again. Many inside staterooms are great staterooms. This is not one of them. 😅
@@JJCruise My first cruise was on a princess cruise and being "cost sensitive" we got an inside cabin. It was like being in a bank vault. You didn't know if it was day or night. Never again. man, NCL is getting nothing but bad press. I'm surprised they didn't take better care of your group since all you do is talk about cruisin. I did forward you link to Peter Grant of NCL because I think he needs to know. NCL ,as well as other cruise lines should realize that the cruise bloggers have 100's of thousand followers that people decide what ship to sail on is sometimes based on what you and them say.
Agree 100%. We were on the same cruise with an interior definitely not again. We asked our steward for a mattress topper and that helped some. Left some things in suit cases that we knew we might not use for lack of storage. But yes shower was great.
I'm almost done with NCL, but I seem to remember that the inside cabins on their older ships were MUCH better than the inside cabins on the Away class and newer. I used to bring collapsible open packing cubes when cruising NCL to have more room to store things (Breakaway, Getaway, Escape and beyond) and don't even get me started talking about how weird the Epic is. Sorry it was such a blah NCL experience, but I'm really not surprised. Celebrity and even Royal, have much better cabin design game, IMO. Thanks for the fair and balanced review!
We had an inside cabin as well! So small. I had a Pullman bed on my side of the bed and it made it impossible to walk on that side. Smallest cruise cabin ever.
I had this exact same room layout on the Breakaway for the Vloggers Extravaganza. My room was 5453. I traveled solo and booked a sail away interior. Never again.
Thanks for another great video! Man, that is one terrible cabin. We used to only do inside cabins, and that was on Princess, but those are really nice. Princess has great beds, and the way the room is designed make it feel larger. Plus they have the same amount of storage as the balcony rooms, so never a problem there. Good to know to avoid this inside cabin.
I solo cruise, even I would not be happy in that inside cabin. The storage situation is really bad! And not having USB ports by the bed is really a big mistake!
We had the exact same room. We have lots of experience on interior cabins. We separated the beds and gave us much more room. It was tiny but if it was the worst room, we are looking forward to more. It was good seeing you on the Vloggapaloosa cruise.
Yes! Definitely can’t wait for you to try other inside cabins on other cruise lines such as Celebrity or even some on Royal Caribbean. They can be just as spacious as a balcony cabin and storage is much more a focus 🙌🏽
As far as thermostat light, I simply toss a towel over such things that can annoy me as I try to sleep. The lack of dresser drawers would have me screaming bloody murder right away. Never done an inside cabin & never plan to
It’s wild as some insides have the exact same amount of storage space as balconies like on some Celebrity ships but this stateroom was miserable in almost every way. Maybe we should have slept in the shower 😂
You should see the state of the single inside cabins, had a funny smell and were so dirty. Horrible. The worst cruise I have ever been on, nightmare!!!
Damn. When the review of the cheap AF inside cabin on the carnival Valor looks like high praise in comparison…noted. And a scroll through comments did not paint a flattering picture of the food or cleanliness. Noted. Ouch - they need to step up their game. Bathroom is the saving grace. I could see this a comfortable room for a solo traveler or for a three night party cruise. I hope it was cheap.
That’s almost the worst cabin. It can get even worse. We had that same cabin on NCL Escape but our had 2 bunk beds that stuck out a ft over each side of the room. Because of that we had to have 2 twin beds because you would hit your head on a bunk bed if it was together. Now this was with no using the bunk beds there was just the two of us but the bunk beds stuck out closed at least a foot on both sides. Worst cabin of our 70 cruises.
Imagine your room with closed bunk beds sticking out a ft on both walls. When I complained to guest services they were so rude and nasty. The response was “We gave you the exact measurements of the room and it slept four when you booked it. Why are you surprised?” Total ass$&@#s. Let’s see I don’t lay down measurements on my floor at home and pretend I’m in the cabin. Also all other cruise lines have the bunk beds recess into the ceiling or wall not stick out into the room when not in use. I’m still angry about it.
We would normally say price is a good thing about an inside cabin, but honestly all of the rooms were more expensive then what they were worth on this sailing. (We aren’t sure why it was so expensive but we had to still go after committing to the Vlogger’s Cruise) Now Carnival Valor Inside Cabin the week after definitely included price as a good!
Very negative vlog. The light from a thermostat, really? Having said that, we only cruise NCL. I have not found very many things wrong that would set me off in a tirade. Upgrade to balcony and give NCL another shot.
We did a balcony. Also small and low on storage. We recommend you trying another line as the rooms are much better elsewhere. That said, if you love a line, there is nothing wrong with sticking with them. ☺️
That is probably the worst inside cabin I have seen you review. And the size of the bathroom cannot make up for all the rest of it. As someone who likes to immediately unpack and put things away, that storage situation would drive me crazy. 😳
We’ve cruised on over 50 cruises (many of which were inside cabins) This one was the worst inside cabin by far. Nothing about being spoiled as we aren’t comparing this to a balcony or upgraded stateroom, just similar inside cabins on other cruise ships and other cruise lines. NCL did a poor job on this cabin (and, it wasn’t a cheap cruise either 😅)
I got to agree with this. I could see the size being an issue but the interior cabins on Breakaway range from 129-201 sq feet so if you are a party of 2 or more, the larger interiors would make sense.
Was the ship filled? Were there other cabins (inside or not) that the Hotel Manager could have moved you to? I sense a lot of misery, yet no effort to improve the situation. Ergo, no sympathy from me!
Yea, ship was at full occupancy. Also, guest services said “no” to everything. Even asking for change from a $20 bill. Truly a poor experience and one we will go into additional details on soon.
Wow, so negative! There is lots of detail online regarding size and layout of their inside staterooms. I’m guessing either you didn’t investigate or just wanted to book the least expensive cabin.
Hi Amy! We’ve stayed in many inside cabins, and typically are happy to do so. This particular room didn’t have information such as storage online and that is a bit paint point when staying in a cabin-especially helpful to the cabin steward for cleaning when you’re able to be tidy and have everything put away. Also things such as a firm mattress and bright light shining in the room aren’t able to be known unless you do your research on RU-vid :). We have LOADS of very positive room tours on our channel, this one just really wasn’t our favorite.
I disliked the look at your cabin. Too much dark wood. The walls look almost white... and that carpet is quiet hideous for a small inside room. No bedside lamps too. Awful looking state room. The volume of the TV is a disgrace.
We are staying in one on Harmony of the Seas currently and it’s been wonderful! Similar in size to a balcony 🥳 But we completely understand that insides aren’t for everyone
So you decided on the cheapest option on any ship 🛳️? Some are better than others, especially on the newer ships 🛳️. I’m aware that you’re doing this as a bloggers but I find your title misleading on some things I’ve seen. I’m claustrophobic, I will never purchase an inside cabin. So how much was this cabin? Was your choice the only option for this particular ship?
