You can actually buy a aftermarket head unit that updates the older (2019 and below) minis. They have Android auto and many many other cool features that did not come in the vehicles.

Minis are awesome. Its just that the seals eventually leak. Its bmw technology. They are fun to drive.

Living in a busy city, I don’t think I can get past having no blind spot monitor, nor rear cross traffic alert. And what’s with only a 3 year warranty? Crazy when most are 5 yrs now.

Thank you for your honest view! I recently changed my 2016 Mini Clubman One 1.5 diesel for a new Mini Countryman Cooper 1.5 petrol. The diesel was noisy on the outside but very quite inside the cockpit. The petrol is much quieter but not quite so much torque as the diesel. I have the Countryman blacked out (it is in the "Longstone" livery here in SW France) Fortunately they do not use salt here on the roads so chrome on cars stays reasonably good. I like my Countryman but I do have one criticism, and that is the auto stop/start. I have to initiate it every time (ie switch it off) when I make a journey. The management unit does not remember the setting when I turn off the engine. This was also the same for the Clubman. Perhaps this is a European emissions requirement? Any ideas please! You certainly keep your Countryman spotless nice to see!!

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Now I, do think there are ways to code you mini to remember the turned off start/stop. I think you do it with a bluetooth OBD2 reader and an app like Carly on your smartphone.

Thank you for your speedy response! You mentioned in your video that you are involved in Information Technology, so applications and Bluetooth technology are second nature to you. For an old fossil like myself I find it all daunting and the thought of messing up the Countryman software terrifies me! Although the Carly application is supposed to be fully compatible with BMW systems. I think I will just flick a switch! Thanks again.

Have a the 2.0 diesel, and the most thing I hate is how heavy the steering feels and gear box that feels it works in 2 stages. I come from driving for 15y a NA mx5 and a CX5 as main car and the gearbox does not feel like the mazda ones. But overall is a great car.

That’s crazy! I am considering one of these, and have been driving (and still driving) my same Japanese car for 15y as well. I was telling someone just one hour ago how I didn’t know anyone else whom was doing the same. Mini must know what we are doing!!!

Navigation system and how to put an address in is crap. And also the voice control. This is a joke. It was in the former model and in the F60 is still not working. Nice is now extendable sport seat. Live in Thailand. Weather is no problem 😎

Have watched first 10 mins of your video and it seems there are so many problems and issues with the car that I need to remove it from my shortlist immediately - no point in buying a car which is clearly so frustrating to live with. A shame as I’ve had 2 previous mini hatch’s and a clubman all of which I’ve loved but if I want something bigger it’s pretty clear that I need to look elsewhere, thanks for the heads up!
