There is a touch of the Ever decreasing circles Martin character in this episode. Tom’s treatment of the delectable Eileen for a start. The laugh . You can see the same when Martin meets his MP in the Egremont club!
I don't have to keep on telling you I love you, do I? You just know it. Barbara: Do you? Tom: Do I what? Barbara: Love me? Tom: Well, of course I do, you silly bitch! I love that soo much.
'Oh course I do you silly bitch!' Tom, tell us truly---do you work for Hallmark? It would have been fine of course, if he'd not gone gaga over Ilene's appearance and kept perspective. It'd gone a long way to convince Barbara she was adorable in whatever she wore---cuz he thought she was. But thank goodness for Jerry's equalizing later in this episode!
"perspective" is this episode's enemy! Of course, normal folk would maintain perspective but this episode sidelined rational for a funny streak! Some shows can go in and out of reality... This show was one that could.
This isn't realistic :-) Barbara is luminous, lively, and the sexiest girl ever in that top and skirt. Hard to imagine any man being attracted to Eileen in her company.
