I adore these two and their whole enemies to BFFs relationship. Eleanor helped Michael become human, in more ways than one, and she was definitely his favorite cockroach.
I like to think when they were hanging out in season 1, singing karaoke and everything, that was the real Michael. That wasn’t evil demon Michael, he briefly broke character to enjoy doing human stuff.
Super agreed, He was just having so much fun that he forgot that he was supposed to be torturing Eleanor. And he knows they both vibe equally cause of their chaotic vibes that's why he wanted a high five from Eleanor after joking about torturing Chido.
Their relationship was truly the heart of the show. They really just turned out to be the most earnest of friends; they just _got_ each other in a way that nobody else did. Man. I love them _so much_
They literally couldn't have picked better actors to play these characters. Kristen Bell and Ted Danson knocked these roles out of the park and their chemistry is so strong. Their arcs ended so well.
IKR SHE ALSO DESCRIBES HIM AS FRAGILE IT'S HILARIOUS!! Also unrelated to Eleanor but sometimes the demons in the show and Michael himself sometimes call Michael "Mikey"😭😭
someone actually drew Michaels fire squid form awhile ago if you search up 6,000-foot-tall Fire Squid on google! :-) looks pretty accurate based on the description Michael gave
This made me realize so many things. I've seen the good place many many times, and I've always known their friendship was special and awesome, but seeing all their moments put tigether like this made me realize something. I always asked myself: when the humans kept finding out they were in the bad place, and Vicky threatened to rat out Michael, of course he had no other choice than team up with them, but how come he agreed to take ethics lessons? How come he didn't put up more of a fight to it (he could have said "No, end of story, or I'll send you to the actual bad place")? How come they actually... worked? I think Michael was actually already becoming friends with Eleanor even before. Even as he was trying to torture her, he was also having actual fun like while singing Karaoke and bowling and winning the minion. I think he was actually starting to see the good in her (and she made him realize the good in humans as a whole) when she tried to help him even if it endangered her because she promised and she didn't want to see him suffer. A human, endangering themselves to help him, a demon trying to torture her. I think this really shifted his perspective. Moreover, the parallel between Michael and Eleanor is often played up for laughs, but actually, they ARE very similar. I think that Michael, initially, could respect her a little bit more compared to Tahani, Jason, and Chidi, because Eleanor is a messy bench but is actually very smart at it. The whole t-shirt thing, all the stuff she did on earth, that stuff was clearly bad but also smart and well executed. I think Michael (at the start) could appreciate that. Many times in the series we hear other demons saying that some messed up human is "a legend" in the bad place and Trevor actually says that about Eleanor when he first sees her in the fake good place. I don't think it was just to torture her, I think it's kinda real. And I really think it was definitely how Michael felt. So Michael designs the fake good place, and brings on Eleanor thinking "oh, that will be so easy, she will keep on finding ways to fork everyone around her for her own advantage, as she always did". But this bench starts actually doing good things, she starts improving, she is EVEN good to HIM, a demon who is doing nothing but deceiving her. And of course this drives him crazy, because it means that his experiment is not working. But slowly a realization starts to dawn on him: if they are so similar, and if Eleanor was able to become a better person with Chidi's philosophy lectures, then maybe he can become better too. He agrees to take the ethics lessons because of this, and also because Eleanor is so smart, and keeps beating him, and that makes him secretly admire her/have respect for her, and that's why they were already starting to become friends even before the deal, and so he might just as well try to be friends with the humans and become good. And then he actually becomes the humans' best friend and so good he saves the entire human race. But all of that was because of Eleanor, because of her brains and heart.
This beautiful comment deserves to be its own RU-vid video so that even people who don’t scroll through the comments can appreciate your beautiful assessment.
I clicked on this expecting it to be just another compilation with just scenes and wii music but holy shirt the editing is actually top notch. The way you paired up scenes to show how similar they are is amazing. Good job
editing together the scenes of Eleanor asking if Michael wants a cool ranch baby to eat with Michael getting Eleanor a shrimp dispensery was sooooo good
We credit Mike Shur shows for giving us some of the best TV romances in recent years (Pam and Jim, Ben and Leslie, Jake and Amy, Eleanor and Chidi), but credit must also be given to them also giving us some of the best platonic male-female friendships across all of fiction (Leslie and Ron, Jake and Rosa, Pam and Michael, and Eleanor and Michael)
i really like michael because even from the beginning you can just tell how interesting humans are to them. and as he learns about humans and does 800 tries of the same experiment, he wants to be one, he wants to know what its like to do spontaneous things that don't make sense just for the hell (haha, hell) of it. he's always wanted to be human, even if he didn't know it, and thats wonderful i think
This show is so found family. Not just Micheal and Eleanor, but everyone's dynamic is so cute. When the show ended I literally sobbed so hard. I wept like I was grieving a passed family member. Because I WAS.
Their becoming friends was honestly the best idea the writers had. I remember my bf and I gasping after the end of season 1 thinking that Michael was such a lovely character and I didn't want him to be evil and then boom Eleanor made him love her as a friend and an equal. It was such a nice turn of events to see them bond. The Good Place is the greatest show I've ever watched when it comes to brilliant writing and I can honestly say there is not one thing I wish I could change, everything was perfect and made so much sense, from beginning to end.
Really? I have not seen season four yet, but let me ask you something; Are you sure Michael was telling the Truth about that? Michael is a demon, lying comes as first nature to him. You should be suspicious of anything he says, ever. 😒
I have not seen season four yet. But, I suspect that Elanore is actually an Angel who used to know Michael before he was cast to the Bad Place. But, Michael doesn't remember her because his memory was erased, just like he did to mortals. But, Elanore is actually trying to get Michael to change and grow enough that he can return to the Real Good Place. Remember how he got the idea for the "Good Place" from the lady who was getting antimatter coffee? Maybe that was actually Elanore dressed up in a demon suit. 💡
@@OGrandomunknownperson disagree. Chidi isn t particulary attractive, there are many more attractive actors (and actresses than k.bell), while mr. Danson was very atractive in his prime, and still looks handsome for his age. (Of course, jason is the most attractive, so is tahani)
Came here for the chaos (the iced tea moment, whole ep for that matter, is one of my favourites of the series if not my favourite) but got reminded of their friendship and they almost brought me tears. It’s one of my favourite relationship dynamics ever

Eleanor's peaceful moment being when all of her friends were safe, happy, and ready to pass on/move on with their lives/afterlives is everything to me.
This show was damp near perfect. Any complaints I may have about it are really just nitpicks. Eleanor and Michael's friendship was the screw that kept everything together. And the ending scene...oh, that forking ending scene with Michael on Earth was probably my favorite moment from any live-action TV show. Holy shirt, I love this show.
I like that Michael's name is... well... Michael (duh). Just a wild guess, but Michael could be based off of Archangel Michael. Archangel Michael is known to assist people in the hour of death, especially before Judgement Day (the day when souls are chosen to go to Heaven or Hell).
You just earned 1000 good place points for making such a heartwarming video of two manipulative demons lying about their identities that become besties. And lost 200 for capitalism side effects.
Spoilers for the last episode Jason gone through the wierd arch wood thing where u die and not exist anymore Then chibi also gone through the door Then tahani became a architect Then micheal became human and is in earth Then jason didnt actually died he was trying to find the jewelry that he was gonna give to janet then go through the door Then eleanor go through door
Sorry if im dumb but what did Kris Jenner do that was Cyrano like? Did she ghostwrite for one of her daughters or something? I really don't know a thing about that family
Oh, does it matter? There are probably so many people in the world named "Kris Jenner" that we don't know if they mean the famous Kris Jenner. 🙄 Remember, these are not beings with human minds. Demons very well could be so intelligent that they are capable of knowing each and every one of the eight billion people in the world, individually. 🗺️😵 😈
I don t think michael was ever really evil demon, just very ambitious. And instead of hatred, he found people to be interesting. Just remember, he was the first demor architect who wanted to live in his neigbourhood among humans
I feel like Michael was the one to truly get Elanor. Like I think everyone loved and came to appreciate her but Michael GOT her. Understood her struggles and habits, was able to call her out on her bs, and became sort of her most stable person in her life
Both took a twisted sense of pride when it came to being a dirt bag, her words not mine. But also deep down felt like there was more to how they felt and acted and were scared of confronting it. It really wasn't until they supported each other that the truth came out. Chidi had a huge part of course there's no denying it, but I feel as if that seeing each other wanting and trying to improve inspired the other to try to. Ultimately they saw each other as the worst of their kind and yet they were capable of being better.
@@doctorjay8673 So true. Chidi gave them the tools and perspective they needed in order to grow, but not the motivation. Michael and Elanor gave that motivation to each other.
@@RoseNoir90 he wasnt really wrong though. One is a very out there person who can be quite aggro and has a difficult history but a big heart, and the other is a very down to Earth glass half empty working class human who spends their whole life as a very self serving person until they meet an incredible group of people and the love of their life who changes them for the better. And Ross and Phoebe were good friends really. Michael is definitely the Phoebe and Eleanor is definitely the Ross
I kinda reasoned it was because Michael was tall, has glasses, and similar body build to Ross, and Eleanor is blonde like Phoebe, who's the only blonde in the Friends group. 🤔🤔🤔
I literally binged the show just last month (it was probably the 3rd or 4th time I'd watched the whole thing). I now want to watch the whole thing all over again.
Eleanor and I have a lot in common. Here's how you can tell us apart. One of us is a manipulative demon who's an expert at making other people miserable, and then the other one is me!
Is she a demon? Or is she an Angel pulling the same scam on Michael because they were once BFFs before Michael and all other demons walked out of The Real Good Placeand got _their memories_ deleted of their past lives deleted? I have not seen season four yet, but after the end of Season three, But I wonder if the whole thing with Chidi's memory being erased and not knowing that he used to know Elanore.... Why couldn't that be done with Michael and other demons, as well? Elanore (who's name means bright or warm light) could be pulling this on Michael because she wants him to become Good enough that he can return to being an Angel in the Good Place?
