One thing I will never understand about conservative women is why they think that they'll be the exception to the rule when their rights are being taken away.

How ignorant of them birth control pills are used for many other things other than birth control.

If all those Republicans want to do away with birth control, I want each, and every Republican male who has fathered less than eight children explain how that happened. Unless there are fertility problems or some other problems -- without birth control, most families would have more than one or two children.

I think we will see fewer women getting married.

I’m glad my husband is not alive to see this. He would feel entitled, he was a bully, he did hit me, he just used words. I was strong enough to walk out when most of our children were grown. Talk about hateful legislation. Birth should only occur when the woman/person is willing to give birth. No one should be forced to be a parent-regardless of their role(s) in conception. The only thing that undermines families and leads to social decay is a lack of socialization of consent-sexual or otherwise.

I know a woman who lived in a violent marriage for years. She had to move several times, "hiding" from her husband who used to search for her and kick her door down, until she finally got divorced. I have no idea how one could possibly have the idea that harder divorces could keep families together. Maybe just take a bit more time to evaluate whom to marry... Women were considered property, first owned by their fathers, then their husbands. If a woman was widowed, she was then given a male guardian to "protect her" and oversee her affairs.

Instead of making divorce more difficult, we should make marriage more difficult. A couple that applies for a marriage license should have to wait a year before a wedding can take place. If they're still together and getting along after a year THEN they can get married. That is a better solution for curbing divorce.

In 1976 , both my mother , and my land lady , applied for loans at the banks they and their husbands , had used for 40 plus years . Before they could either one even get home , the bank president , had call my dad , and my landladys husband , to ask if it was ok to givethese two women loans . And asked for them to come sign the paper work . Two angry women went to the bank , and said , they no longer wanted the loans .neither my father or land ladys husband , got even a birthday cake on their birthdays .

Handmaids tale is not a how to manual

As someone who was the product of two parents who should have divorced years before they did, because they wanted to keep the family whole that is the stupidest argument I have fucking ever heard. The best thing that happened to my family was my parents getting divorced. Everyone was happier and my parents became friends again. The best thing that happened to my friend, she got a divorce. Not only did it save her life and her son's life physically but it saved her mental health and she very likely would have unalived to herself if not for divorcing him. My godson is so much happier now. And it's funny that they want to get rid of no fault divorce because the life expectancy of men went up significantly after no fault divorce became law. I guess they want to go back to being unalived with arsenic. Like I recently had a little old lady saying do you know how to do that just in case. When I pressed her and said I'm never getting married She said "Yes but what about one of your friends? What if they need you to know how to do that." Little grannies be scary because they survived that shit and know what's coming
