To the Torajan people living in Sulawesi, Indonesia, funerals are so important they say they work hard in order to die. Torajan people believe in reincarnation and that water buffaloes insure that the next life is bountiful. So they have a ceremony where they catch water buffaloes and other animals like cows or pigs so they could lead the deceased comfortably and easily into the next life. Therefore, it takes a fortune for the funerals of the Torajan people and some keep the embalmed bodies at home for months or years until they save up enough money for a funeral. Once the money is prepared, the people of the village gather and a grand funeral like a festival is held over several days. #Funeral #TorajanPeople #Sulawesi
