You’re absolutely right about the messages woven into the comedies. My brother and Harold were very close friends, so I got to know him somewhat. He was an intellectual (Bill Murray too, I think to a lesser extent) who studied philosophy and religion. He called himself Buddhish, a blend of Buddhism and Jewish. I see your appreciation for him, so even though I usually don’t talk about him on sm, I just want to say that he’s one of the best people I’ve ever met: kind, generous, grounded, curious. He would take his car to get the smog check, so I asked him why he didn’t just have an assistant do it. He said he likes to see new places. When my brother was dying from skin cancer, Harold could still make us laugh. Anyway, thanks for your videos, especially this one. Peace.

Harold's dad lived into his 90's, so his passing at age 69 was unexpected, even by him. Just a few years before perhaps unintentionally tempting fate, Harold mentioned during a speaking engagement, that he thought he had a lot of life left, because his dad lived so long.

Egon was my one of my childhood heroes too and he will always be my favourite Ghostbuster. Harold's body of work will always stand the test of time. They were funny, they had heart. Thank you for this video...it was so lovely and respectful. As you guys always are.

Such a loss. A great talent. Back in the mid 80's I was working on a script idea that he was interested in. I met him, sat very close to him at a private screening of his latest movie at Warner Studios . A very warm and charming individual. Nothing became of the project but I'll always remember my meeting this very talented man.

Don't worry, I am 49 years old and I too cried when I saw Harold Ramis in Ghostbusters Afterlife. They did a fantastic job. (A Ghostbusters Afterlife filming location video by you would be very cool!) P.S. Jessica said that you, Michael, remind her of Harold Ramis. When I see you, you always remind me of Ewan McGregor. Back in 1979 and 1980 I met Harold at a restaurant in Edmonton Alberta as he was visiting John Candy who was waiting for him. Back in the SCTV days. I walked by and said hey guys. Candy right away acknowledged me and said hi back then asked where is the best place Harold and I can grab a beer in town. We talked for about 15 minutes. Down to earth people. And by the way, those tile murals you were seeing at the end of the video, were the symbols of each of the twelve tribes of Isreal. I recognized it when the one with the multicolored square showed up. Each square represents a different jewel, and each jewel a different tribe.

I never met Harold, but I miss his work so much. I think that it is people like Harold that kept Hollywood sane and relatable to the common man. The fact that, for all intents and purposes, seemed to be a very relatable and geniune person just makes his loss that much sadder. I was so glad that he was so tastfully integrated into the Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie. A fitting tribute.

Thanks for sharing. I was resistant to the idea of a third Ghostbusters movie because its been too long & I really wanted more of a follow up to the 2009 video game, which had all four guys back, with Dan Aykroyd & Harold Ramis contributing to the story. It really felt like the 3rd movie & it added a lot of lore to the Ghostbusters mythology. I was very disappointed when Ivan Reitman confirmed it was no longer canon when they were making Afterlife, which put me off even more. When I did see it, I was having my patience tested because I thought it was taking way too long to get to keep the story going & getting to the original characters, so I wasn't feeling the emotion I was supposed to be feeling when it came to the end. Part of this I think is also because I didn't watch the originals to get in the mood for the new one, & I hadn't seen them in a while. I decided to see it again, but I also made sure to watch the originals first, & play through the 2009 game (even if its no longer officially canon, you still hang out with the original characters), & after seeing it again, I enjoyed it a lot more & felt the emotion I was supposed to feel. I am also glad Bill Murray made peace with him before he passed too. RIP.
