Very interesting. Being a backer for many years, I never knew there was something like a "safe place" for ships in the grey market. But what absolutely amazes me, is that Star Hangar can operate their business (with multiple employees) basically by the percentage they get with each sell. So that means there must be quite some transactions per month going on. I always imagined the grey market more "shady" ;-). Thanks a lot for the information.
A great way to get ships, but there's always risk. I've never had any problems with SH, Reddit, or Ebay, but one needs to be smart, and fastidious with all methods. Generally I would only use them for the missing links, or the cheapest target CCUs, spending minimal possible, and get the most via the legit store.

I've been on the Reddit market for a few years now, the big difference in almost all cases is whether I buy from a single seller or on a marketplace. There can be difficulties everywhere, but there can also be good offers. The aim was to bring the topic into light 🤞

Very cool interview. I didn't realize that Star Hangar was so old. Or German. But you can tell how much Marc is into the game by the Connie model and the Citizen's Card on the shelf behind him. And I'm guessing his isn't from Etsy. 😁 I've always liked Star Hangar's business. They're not always they cheapest source, but if you're going to buy from the Grey Market, they're really reliable. I'm glad they're registered and based in the US. If I wanted to _sell_ through Star Hangar, where I have to pay German VAT, then listed something on Star Hangar where I'd have to add another VAT, and then PayPal fees, it'd be really hard to compete with sellers from the US. TBF, I wouldn't be doing it to make money, I'd be doing it to build my Chairman's Club level and selling at cost, but then probably still more expensive than a US seller doing it as a side-hustle.

Does this video mention that if a player claims they are "hacked" to CIG, they can reclaim any ship they send you via gifting? At literally any point, any grey market ship you buy can be taken from you with zero recourse. In short: The Grey market isn't worth it.
If the seller is a fraud, the item will be removed from the account. The claims against this seller are then not CIG's problem and will not be processed. Therefore, trust in the seller is critical in the gray market 🤞
5:00 problem is digital goods is they are a very fast way to launder money, hence why the gamining comission was so in to putting Lootboxes in everything because gambling takings have higher returns then direct buy of digital goods. it's perfects because they have virtuually no overheads outside the game upkeep and updates which could be done with a tiny crew if they can pefect the game then they just staff excess with family members or loyal frend of freidns in marketing roles bascially if the comapny is making to much money laundering the money though people becomes the other alternative anyway. they pay a cut to the gov and you get them to cover some pention fund with a few hundred each a month. like the game is complex but not obscure enough not to notice. getting in to GAMING before 2025 might be a good option because there is an economy that is stronger and safer than the war economy
The worst issue to me is that the 90 days guarantee I.E., the Star Hangar offers, cannot cover future issues. If the selles has issues with CGI in the far future you can STILL lose the pack or upgrade, and in the case of an upgrade in the middle of your own CCI chain, it could lead to even more damages than the grey market upgrade price you agreed to pay.
Personally I feel adding 20 USD or so to upgrade the starter to an Avenger might be worth it. No need to do it on day one, though. Only if you like it. And you would still be in the price range for a game. But you would not need a grey market to do so.
I play the game from time to time and im nobody that need all ships it´s far to expensive to pay 500 bucks for a digital ship. Ebay is your best friend you get 20 million credits for around 10 bucks and with 20 million you can buy so much ships and have fun in the game and 10 to 30 bucks a year for some credits is ok for me.
