Just started listening to a biography of Herbert Hoover! Really illuminating on the economy in this period. Given his wonderful ability to (micro)manage relief responses to humanitarian crises before the presidency, am wondering what obstacles he faced to dealing with the Depression.

Great content Prof! Eerie how relevant these topics are. I thought you could have clarified tho, neither Hoover nor fdr tried cutting govt spending and regulation during the crisis and the myth insinuates Hoover did! I heard Coolidge did which resulted in a boom! If Trump cut spending today but we boomed in a year or two it would be worth it, but it's politically impossible.
