2016 marks the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London, which burned through the city for four days in September 1666. Professor Laura Gowing and Professor Arthur Burns, Department of History, examine the impact of the fire on the city's geography, housing and opportunities and consider how it affected the future of St Paul's Cathedral.
With thanks to London Fire Brigade, who celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2016. www.london-fire...

Very few people know about the Great Fire of Southwark in 1212 With up to 3,000 fatalities it was far deadlier than the more famous fire of 1666

Very good except it could have shown maps old and new, so that we could get some rough idea of just how much was destroyed. I also disagree about noise levels, as smithys of the day would not have been constant banging. Only mechanisation builds that general wall of noise that we hear today.
@merlinmediagroup
@merlinmediagroup 2 года назад
She never said it would have been "just as noisy a city as today", she said it would have been noisy, "much like it is today".

Interesting that even such an educated woman, a professor, says "Smiff's" instead of Smiths, at 1.37. and "deafs' for "deaths' at 1.57 and "uvver' for other at 2.24 etc. She must be a true Londoner!

Ahhh. Of course. The infamous school system that tells the ultimate truth... Did they mention how it was the Jesuits who burnt down London?.. only feeble minds believe a bakery fire could burn down the entire city.... Jesuits are the reason Britons sent men to their deaths in WW1@2.. Jesuit guy Fawkes trying to overthrow Protestant king... All roads lead to Rome.
@SilSteinmetz

Interesting how they so accurately account for houses: on the monument we read 13 thousand (interesting number), 436 acres (which again adds up to 13), Yet they don't account for number of lives lost? Oh, what's people? that unimportant little detail! Haha..Now let's continue, the fire occurred on September (month 9) day 2 (II), both numbers again add up to 11, and the year i666...Interesting year! The fire burnt for 3 days, (again those 3's....) The monument has a spiral staircase of 311 steps (again 3, again 11) that goes up to the top on which there is a copper vase of flames? (Offering? sacrifice perhaps?). Ritualistic numbers, symbolism all over the place on places, dates and events. The London Great Fire the start of a previous Great Reset, like they are doing now, on key ritualistic dates, burning cities and destroying natural resources. How they started the new one? 9/11/2001 was a ritualistic date, you see the 9, the 11, the year 3: 2+0+0+1=3, and fasten your seatbelts because they are executing a new "Great Reset" right now full of great fires all over the world like they did in the past under the guise of "climate change". Research and question people!
