As long as we eat meat, consume dairy, use leather, even wool; this conversation should not be happening. The notion that some animals are commodities while the “cute” animals must be protected is facetious. Just say it: you don’t see all life as equal if you play by this double standard.

I have several really old fur coats my grandfather left me and when it’s really cold I do wear them and don’t see the problem with it a good fur garment can last for generations and does not pollute the environment like plastics and man made fibres do

Really interesting points made on both sides. As a fur agnostic, I'd settle on "Caveat emptor". It's up to a shopper to not be ignorant and ask about a product origins before purchase. Also it's a house's responsibility to have sales associates know it. You know full well that fur-trimmed coat at Hermes and the Chinese wild dog trim on a H&M coat are world's apart.

Very interesting debate I think as long as people eat meat wear wool leather etc then people should have the option to wear fur if they choose

What debate? people shrug off the fact that animals are brutally skinned alive for shallow vanity: It’s barbaric, it’s inhumane, and it’s an inexcusable evil. Watch videos of them screaming and left piled atop one another to suffer a lengthy hell of a death and THEN disagree. The difference is we eat cows- therefore leather isn’t an entire waste- but how cows, pigs, livestock are slaughtered also come into question and under fire for animal cruelty. Excuses & comparisons don’t explain away an unnecessary cruelly obtained luxury item.

SubversiveStyle I wear fur but my fur is from roadkill how is that wrong ?

SubversiveStyle mink are the same they consume bi products from things like plants etc they help prevent waste their waste is used for fertiliser to grow crops and they are also used in things like cosmetics etc so mink are not just bred for fur

I just purchased my 2nd mink coat today. I was lucky enough to find a 20 thousand dollar full legnth Blackglama mink coat. I firmly believe that fur is better than faux for enviornmental reasons alone. Faux fur is plastic derivative. It takes 1000 years for a plastic coat to decompose in a landfill.

fur is essential. all human societies have worn fur and i think fur has a future in a slow fashion world

I think the anti-fur guy needs to research this topic, to the extent he knows what he his talking about. Plus he didn't answer the question of whether or not faux fur is damaging to the environment. More animals in the wild are dying from pollution; from the production of synthetic fabrics and fabrics dyes. Fur farming doesn't even come close to the amount of animals and marine life killed, as a result of these productions. Leather is not always a biproduct from meat factories, some animals are bred specifically for their skin. The same goes for furs, some animals are bred specifically for the color and quality of their fur. Yes, Fur Farms should be regulated and the animals treated as humanly as possible, but should it be band? I think the answer is No.

Vegans just hate the idea of animals being killed for any reason I don’t have a problem with eating meat or wearing fur

I recycle roadkill as it's more ethical than caged animals and I see that as the future of fur but I think to turn our back on something that is so natural it's just one sided

I love wearing vintage fur from a thrift shop it doesn’t support the fur industry but It is cosy and luxurious love it Canada goose supports the fur trade also real fur can last for hundreds of years synthetic is made with chemicals that take thousands of years to biodegrade real fur biodegrades in a matter of 4 weeks they say wearing fur encourages others to wear fur so does synthetic fur

100 generations on the fur farm.... Wow. What sort of existence is that? I feel like with every point he makes, Frank just digs a hole for himself. He continually tries to justify yet he is surely not going to gain any fans. I think fur is just so archaic and there are no excuses for it at this point. My morals mean far more to me than my vanity or the support of this "tradition".

ortem000 i wear wear fur but I use roadkill I wear fur because it's luxurious and warm but we agree no animals should be raised in farms for fur but the animals I wear are roadkill

I disagree with the fur farms but I am a trapper because if you have a fox killing your chickens more wild animals kill pets than people kill fur raised animals for the fur coats and such
