when Gatsby kissed Daisy he knows that his mind will never ROMP like the mind of god ! kissing a sophisticated and charming girl like her can make him Climb in the ladder of socioeconomic and be a member of the new money ! so why he hesitated then ! knowing that if he keep working on himself and archieve his goal without her distraction is so not enough to make him an east egg member ! WHY IT WONT ROMP LIKE A MIND OF GOD ! thank you ?

I interpreted those lines as Gatsby can only create his future if he's alone. The Christian God is a solitary figure (he doesn't have a wife). So if Gatsby stays away from women, he can focus on building his career. But Gatsby decides to change his goal and kisses Daisy. In chapter 8, it's revealed that Daisy thought Gatsby was rich. In chapters 4 and 7, it's hinted that Gatsby's lower social class ended his relationship with Daisy. Thanks for your sharing your thoughts!
