Bunch of haters on here! Thanks for sharing your journey! As a futurelooper I am all about these kind of videos and have subscribed hoping for more. Everyone's a critic when it comes to RU-vid but you just keep doing what you're doing with your own channel. Thanks again for taking the time to put this together and put it out on the internet for all to see. Safe and happy travels!

I liked the video and thanks for sharing. I've dreamed of doing the Loop for 2 (or honestly 3) decades now and I found it particularly interesting that you've done it with such a large boat. I fantasize about doing it with a 53' downeaster style but a lot of Loop info online seems to discourage boats larger than 40 feet. I knew it was possible academically, but it's nice to see it done for real. Because my "dream boat" has a thinner beam and much lower air draft, your videos are refueling my dreams. Thanks again.

And a thank you Lance, very nice comment. Having our dreams keeps us young and alive. Buy that boat of your dreams and get going on the Loop, things should be opening up soon. It looks like you had to drop some top gear to make it under the railroad bridge. Is there a latch you can just flip it back or was there 'some [dis]assembly required'?

We had a hinge put in the radar arch. We were also able to use the davit to raise and lower it which made it much easier and safer.

Did you have any issues with a "big" 59 ft boat? We will be fulltime livaboards and want the extra space but seems like most are 50 and under?

Rayce I would say it all depends on what your plans are. We had planned to take Independence through the Panama Canal last year but due to COVID, and all the countries shutting down, we had to turn back after being stuck in Honduras for 2 months. We do a fair amount of Coastal Cruising so the 59 works out great for us. In doing the Loop the 59 was large for the Erie Canal and other locations but worked for us.

What's the difference between a CP and other Nordhavn's? As an Australian, on the Great Loop, how do you get from the Atlantic Ocean to inland?

CP stands for Coastal Pilot. The main difference between the CP and most other Nordhavns is that the CP is semi-displacement and can reach a top speed of 22 knots as opposed to 7to +- 10 knots. To get inland we went up the Hudson River from NYC to the Erie Canal and then the Oswego Canal that brought us to Lake Ontario.
