For those who don't know the title of the movies 0:00 Harry Potter 0:50 ET 1:50 Star Wars 2:27: Superman 3:22 Hook/Olympic Theme 3:54 Home Alone 4:51:Jurassic Park 5:52 Jaws 6:14 Raiders of the Lost Ark
Plus at the end of Jurassic Park going into Jaws, they use the fact that he's not an instrument to seamlessly go from a timpani sound to a tuba/string bass sound
I would like to know how the sound is processed. It obviously can't sound that good live. I wonder if the sound we get is from a single take of the video that we are seeing. Don't get me wrong...they are phenomenal, but there's got to be some mixing magic going on too, right?
@@mellowjammer If you look up their Disney Love video, you can hear them without "Mixing Magic" and you can hear some low notes from the very same bass hitting some equally low notes.
I know, right!! Thank you somebody for mentioning the basses 😆 As much as I like a good soprano the basses deserve just as much recognition because daaaaamn
I can’t be the only one who really wants to hear them do a full version of “Somewhere In My Memory” from Home Alone. So beautiful, I actually got teary-eyed! 😭❤️
That one soprano has a magnificent voice! Rarely do you hear a voice so crystal clear, crisp, clean, and effortless! Her voice soars with eagles in a way most sopranos these days can only dream of! The altos are as smooth as creamery butter. The tenors are like a choir of Herald Trumpets. As a bass 1 and occasional bass 2 (on a REALLY good day), I have to say that the power, warmth, and majesty of the basses is sublime! Like a warm bath, their voices are calming and inviting. They lend such depth and power to the overall arrangement that it is unbelievable. Their voices are as smooth as silk, dark as night, and as soft as velvet; while adding elements of chilling and sinister in the right amounts. I have not heard a group this amazing in years. The closest that I can think of is Conspirare when they worked with Oktavist, Glen Miller...and they are still lightyears behind these guys. The overall timbre and quality of sound is simply phenomenal! Their arrangement of "Mary, Did You Know" with comedian, lyricist, and singer, Mark Lowry; gets me in the feels (and I am a hard nut to crack). I will say this to the group... JOV WELL DONE! BRAVO! I AM NOW A FAN FOR LIFE! BEST OF WISHES ON YOUR JOURNEY AND CAREER!
What a privilege it is to be able to access this stunning performance for free! Seriously incredible talent and your generosity in sharing this with the world is much appreciated! Thank you!
Kate if you ever read this, I can't get through your vocals you remind me of my mom. She also had a true Soprano voice but she could sing almost any genre if she chose to. She did teach me to appreciate singers from all disciplines because of the work that had to be done to get them ready for the level of performance they gave. She chose to have a family instead of pursuing a music career, though I'm not sure some part of her didn't question that choice, especially after I was born.
I did cry. Home Alone is one of my favorite movies of all time. It doesnt even have to be the holiday season for me to want to watch it. I watch it throughout the year, but especially around Christmas, with my family. It's a big family movie. And Kevin's mother reminds me so much of my mom, so at the end when they run to hug each other as the music swells always turns me into a giant blubbering baby. I'm tearing up now just thinking about it. 😫😭😭
I love that you used the full beginning of the Jurassic Park Symphonic Suite, not just diving in there with the famous themes, and can you give your basses a massive pat on the back for that incredible staccato bottom C! Just wow!
Its pretty much inarguable that Kate is slaying the high notes but some serious props to Tiffany for her amazing harmonies to go with Kate's high notes. But overall this was just amazing on so many levels and I was extremely happy to listen to this. Great work everyone.
I'm possibly one of your biggest fans, this blew me away I had a smile on my face from start to finish , not to mention a few tears when you sang the song from Hook and Robin Williams made an appearance. Just amazing thank you!
My favourite one of all is the Jurassic Park theme, those opening notes never fail to make my heart beat faster. The Home Alone song comes a close second :)
Erich Korgold, max steiner, and many others are considered “fathers of film music” and really are the reasons we have John Williams as we know and love him today. Listen to the score of kings row and you’ll know what I mean
BEST? He has some of the best...yes. But there are some pretty dang great composers that have had better songs than he has had. So...it's a matter of volume. Jerry Goldsmith I think had better ideas than John Willams.
Ever heard of Moosebutter? They did a John Williams mashup song that this song kept reminding me of the whoooooole time xD It's pretty good just a different sound than this, but it easily gets stuck in my head so I thought I would share :3
First of all, you guys are beyond amazing... the human mind cannot fashion a word beautiful enough to encompass what i feel when listening to you guys. It is true harmony in the classical sense. True musical harmony penetrates the soul and makes the soul imitate that harmony, making us better human beings just by listening, this is true for all good music. I am a choir nerd and i know this feeling of harmony that connects us all, especially people singing together in a group like this. This is an amazing medley! Though it should have just been called "Greatest John Williams Medleys" but then again, that is probably what you meant by "The Great Movie Medleys". Such is the legacy of Mr. williams. Cannot wait to hear and see more. you are all so incredibly talented and beautiful!
This is THE CHOIR! Every work blows me away, and E. T., my childhood, thank you for including it in the medley :') I love your work, the harmony you have is magical, I'll look forward seeing more from you!
I love Voctave. I love how they are sincere that they are having a good time singing together. And they support each other, especially with the various highlight spots.
I have honestly listened to this like a good hundred times and I promise it gets better each time. Talk about the chill bumps. I just want to go to a concert of y'all. Like that would literally be a dream come true! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Voctave, you are AMAZING. I revel in the purity of your sound, the expressiveness each member exudes...You are my new go-to favorite for destressing after work!!!! I melt and feel as if I'm entering into a wonderland. Thank you!!!!
I second this motion!!! Especislly with the high Sopranos that could be amazing... and even phantom of the opera unless theyve already done that busy going through all there videos 😂😂
I WILL NEVER GET OVER HOW AMAZING THIS IS!!!!!!! IT JUST MAKES ME SMILE AND GIVES ME EPIC CHILLS EVERYWHERE! ITS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! listening to it on high volume with good headphones is the bessssst! Ya'll are just magnificent!!!
Every choral group needs to watch Voctave. They sing from their hearts, their souls, with smiles on their faces. By all outward appearance, they just seem like a cross-section of ordinary folks, but together as a group, the sum of their joint effort is marvelous.
