I was there! It was amazing! I also went to the after party where I saw Ry Cooder , , and all the musicians, except Bob Dylan didn't come. I went to the bar and as I waited was mesmerized by the hands of the woman next to me. Beautiful long fingered strong hands. Then I realized it was Joni Mitchell. My heart started beating a million patters and I finally mustered up the courage to speak to her. I tried to sound intelligent and casual but I was so excited I couldn't think. I said very casually, Is that Sake you are drinking? Inside I felt like someone was pulling my tongue in knots. She said, yeah you want some? Five minutes later of talking with her, she asked me to sing my new song to her. I sang into her ear and she put her arm around me and encouraged me to sing the whole song in her ear. She said she liked it and that it reminded her of the book, The Celestine Prophecy. She then spoke of the circle and how everything needs to be in balance. Masculine and Feminine. Later I drank beer with Jon Bon Jovi and partyed with his photographer. I gave Joni a leather beaded wallet that was made by the First Nation people in Saskatchewan which is where she is from. In the wee hours Jon Bon Jovi's photographer took a picture of Joni and I. We look like sisters and she is holding the wallet I gave her. Get well soon Joni! You are beloved! Thank you for listening to my song!

+Andrea Sadler omg, I was just recalling this event to a bunch of friends who never believed me (I don't think). I was back stage too and remember someone giving Joni Mitchell a poem and she actually played it on her guitar!!It was brilliant! We probably have a few people in common lol

What a great Joni story. And here's a bummer - In the late 60's, a friend had a bunch of velvet. They decided to make a cape for Joni Mitchell, playing in town in a couple of months. The took the cape to the concert, and got permission to go backstage to give it to her! 'Stand here and I will call you'... My friend turned to look at something. When she turned around - the others had gone backstage. In the chaos, at the end of the line, she had missed the call. And they wouldn't let her join them!

Happy to hear all the Joni Mitchell fans here ... one of the best all-rounders of the 20th century. Never had the pleasure of seeing her live, but her 70's albums are among my most treasured. My Japan experience is limited to close to where I live in Kawasaki - where I went several times to "Select Live Under the Sky" at Keio Yomiuriland. Saw Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Milton Nascimento among others (such as the god at 29:09 and 1:43:54) Got a chance to shake hands with Herbie at the old Tokyo Blue Note, and actually chat with Flora Purim and Airto Moreira. Japan is a great place for jazz lovers.

Me and my wife was among the 2 billions and still listen to some of it periodic, got it on 4 hours VHS. Now it is digital secured. All of the musicians seems so satisfied. In sixteen days on the 22. of may 2014 we will open a good bottle of wine (maybe twenty years old (if I can afford it) :-) ) and enjoy it from beginning to the end while I'm looking at my wife and thinking, how does she manage still looking so good?

I only just found this!!!!I was there too. I sang backing vocals for Joni on "Sex Kills" - I'm stage right (left to the audience) in the cream suit. We hung out a little travelling to rehearsals and also at the party that Andrea is referring to. They say don't meet your hero's.....well if your hero is Joni Mitchell you're on solid ground. She was wonderful. This gig was a joy for me. There was some great synchronicity too, because I was asked by the musical director Michael Kamen to sing for The Queen at her Golden Jubilee in Buckingham Palace as a result of this concert. At the party, I told Joni in passing that I had "Court and Spark in my hotel room. She said "Do you want that I sign it for you?" Hell yes! I ran so fast up to that room. It's one my most treasured possessions. Yay Joni. 💖

O melhor show foi o da banda INXS, pois além de serem ótimos ao vivo, se preocuparam em introduzir elementos da cultura japonesa imersivamente em sua apresentação... 👏👏👏👏👏 Show de bola... (Detalhe: No vídeo não mostra todas as músicas tocadas - a música "what you need" foi o auge de encerramento do seu show - não inclusa neste vídeo) ✌️✌️✌️ Inesquecíveis!!!🎉🎉🎉

Have that concert once recorded on VHS-Tapes. If I remember correct that about 2 Billion people were watching that earth-shaking concert. Were damn stunned by that asian "concept of music". Like the "drum battle of Leonard Eto and Ray Cooper" best :). "East meets West in perfection" :)) Also X-Japan were worth a second "google" ggg. Great music :) Indeed, sad there's no DVD around.
