Introduction to the last 2 weeks in the life of Jesus Christ portrayed in an open amphitheater with people interacting with live animals in an old world bible city taking you back to that day and time living with Christ
I remember seeing this when i was nine i am now 32 and i still remember going here with my church all the way from dallas,tx.i encourage people to take there family to see it.
I had the "HONOR" of being in the cast of this great production in 1990. You would not believe what goes on behind the scenes. Children studying and doing homework for school the next day, adults sitting studying the Bible and discussing it with one another. Then the play begins and everyone is on set and for that brief time they ARE living in the last days of Christ life. The first time I saw the play I was so moved and made my Salvation more real. A Great experience!!
My husband and I got married standing right in front of the statue of Jesus, May of 2004, it was a beautiful day and we've been back many times since then, It's sad to know that it is closed now. I've got a lot of good memories to last a life time. One of my other favorite tours was of the one in the trolley going down thru the parts of the sea of galilee, they called Holy City tour if I remember right and also most of all I liked seeing the potter with Joe Smith as he is portraying Jesus.
@herrrrunsamok It's quite worth it, too. I saw it in 2000 and it was absolutely amazing. Great set, great actors, great visual effects, great story...it's everything you want in a theatrical production.
The Great Passion Play has remained open, and last year nearly 1000 accepted Christ from the work that God is doing there, If you have never visited everyone is welcome and you will be Blessed.....
I heard for YEARS that this place was going to close because of athiests and motorcycle gangs and "gays" lol but it closed for the reason I always figured it might: economic factors. I really did like this place but the food at the eating place wasn't so great and the seating was extremely uncomfortable. Also it gets cold at night when the play is going on, even in the summer, and people bring screaming kids/babies, it was a so/so experience. Christ Of The Ozarks should get protected status.
Ugh. Seriously, though? That statue looks like a milk box with wings; part of me feels like there should be a "missing person" ad on the back. "Have you seen me?"
