I think Spawn isn't popular because he's too dark. not to mention he's targeted towards adults so most kids didn't get into him when they were young. I love Spawn now but as a kid I was more into spiderman batman and x men. now as an adult spawn has become very relatable.

When I watch Spawn, I sort of see it as a metaphor for my childhood trauma in a strange way. My previous life ended, the previous me ended, and I can never get them back. I died a long time ago, I went through hell and came out of it permanently fucked. Now I feel like I'm in a similar place to Spawn. I have nothing, I have no hope for the future, but I feel like at the very least I can prevent the same shit that happened to me from happening to others. I can use what I've learnt to keep the kind of people who ruined me from ruining others. I'm a lot stronger now, and I can take a lot more than other people can. Spawn in that way is weirdly empowering to me

Spawn is really interesting to me because it's this bizarre blend of noir, political intrigue with supernatural, metaphysical fantasy. And somehow it really works. Death Note is the only other property out there that I can compare in that regard. But they achieve very different things and have very different kinds of characters in their stories.

I love how in this show every single short term mobster villain sounds like they're voiced by someone that desperately tries to not wake their parents sleeping in the next room and then Keith David comes in and spreads like Spawn's cape all over them with how deep and clear his voice is in comparison. Kinda makes me feel like the villains in Spawn talk like that because they know he's asleep and hell hath no fury like Spawn having his sleep disturbed

Honestly, Keith David's Spawn, Ron Perlman's Hellboy and Kevin Conroy's Batman, in an animated crossover movie would've been peak superhero horror! Unfortunately, one legend has passed, rest in peace Mr Conroy. Still, I really hope the two supernatural comic icons, Hellboy and Spawn, have a chance to crossover somehow with Perlman and David in their respective roles.

Why does Disturbed fit so well with this character?!?
