They (screen producers) should do more historical comedies. The “Death of Stalin,” was a hoot and one of funniest movies I’d seen in many years so that I watched it a few times. Most modern comedies are too terrible and unfunny.

What really draws you in is that they just have so much chemistry that even though you know there will never be a romance, you can't help but want them to have it. They struck lightning with the casting.

@Liambrownz Oh so many things. This Peter was not the son of Peter the Great, he was the maternal grandson and he was himself born in modern day Germany and only came to Russia in his teens. His aunt Elizabeth was actually the Empress when he married Catherine, so the whole "women can't rule Russia" is wildly anachronistic. Peter was only Emperor a very short time after his aunt died, before Catherine ousted him (like months!).

Lol "sort of". This is HIGHLY inaccurate and stylized. Great show. But it is kind of sad. Other countries know very little about Russia, it's history and culture. Besides the stereotypes. Even Russians themselves says "a Russian soul is an obscurity". Or something along those lines.

I absolutely LOVE this interpretation but just FYI: historically, the Russian Nobility did try to award Empress Catherine with the titles "the Great", "the Most Divine" and "the Mother of the Nation". Her reply? "Only God is Divine. History will judge if I was Great, not you fine noblemen. But I will gladly accept being Mother of these Russias."

Apparently the plans were for six seasons but we don’t know. If it’s popular enough it could go on for that long but if not it won’t. I’m not sure how much attention this show is bringing in though it’s fantastic, but that’s Hulu for you

It is HIS family's fault why she goes dry like sand. She was this eager to please, naive young girl when she married him and he was clueless on how to make a marriage work because everyone around him didn't bother to tell him how to behave around someone who is NOT one of his subjects- who is of royal blood - like him, who will be just as powerful as him especially if she is to be the mother of the future king of Russia! Uh, the frustration of season 1.

So glad I discovered this show and it feels so personalised, you have amazing historical period drama which isn't inaccurate at all, plot twsits that will make your brain go numb amazing direction and set pieces, great casting, never loved Hoult and Fanning more and now that Anderson is here this is gonna be a ride.

Not in the REAL story they didn't, at all. The real Catherine the Great got her husband killed to become Empress, because he was a sociopathic inept idiot. People who say this about the couple on this show clearly know nothing about the actual History of it.
