“You won’t believe this, but they’ve stolen a train.”
That was the special announcement heard on police radios in the early hours of August 8, 1963, after a gang of criminals pulled off one of, if not the most infamous heist in British history. They robbed a Royal Mail train heading from Glasgow to London and made off with 120 mailbags containing £2.6 million (which is around £60 million in today’s money). Nobody was killed, although the train driver received a serious cosh on the noggin.

Nice to see Leighton Buzzard mentioned as it's my home town. To be honest the great train robbery is the only major exciting thing that's happened around here. Unless you count John Travolta showing up that one time to take his son on the narrow gauge railway.

I don’t know why you didn’t mention Biggs’ connection to the Sex Pistols. That’s one of the reasons he’s so well known. Growing up in the US in the 70’s, that’s how I first became familiar with him and The Great Train Robbery.

The only reason I found this was because I read of the death of the last surviving train robber who died last week, whom I knew in person, as well as one of the other train robbers, through my late father. My father wasn't a criminal, just a bad songwriter. He co -wrote a record about the train robbery, which like all his other records, never made it! I guess the train robbers look amateurish in their criminality these days when compared to the Tory government of the last 13/14 years!

I just wanted to point out that at this point it is coming across as really rude towards Karl and his work on the channel for people to constantly harp on about how they miss Simon (regardless of the fact he has like, 3,440,971 other channels) or they want him back all the time. Karl is good at his job. He's not Simon, but he doesn't need to be. People need to stop going on so much about Simon bloody Whistler lol.

Maybe stop saying "Um-uh" quite so much. One or the other (or "like") so much is one thing but both? Every time? I've been watching Fact Fiend since about 2017, right around the video about Violet's hair being a ball-ache for the Incredibles CGI team and I'm sure that this is a more recent thing. So It's also puzzling were this came from and when you started saying it so much. I reckon just a split second pause would still be better but I also know how hard it is to get out of habits.

This was never Simon's channel. It was owned by Shel Harris, whom died, and his daughter took it over. Some issues arose and Simon left. He's got like 10 other channels, most of them he owns.
