It has been a life long dream to go to the Great Wall of China and today I have finally done it, other than the weather it was a great day. I have written a FREE China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more, you can download it here: bit.ly/4d8D23t
It's not only edible, but also tasty in the sense it diminishes a bit the sweetness of sugar coat outside the fruit. This is like adding another layer of flavor for the Tanghulu. 😄
Thank you for sharing your family journeys with us! Thank you for telling the truth of China as well as sharing the details information! It is fog 🌫️ that you are seeing NOT smog. China has been doing clean air since 2008.
Sorry the weather is not ideal, otherwise the view would be stunning on the Great Wall. Wish you still enjoyed. When you tasted lamb skew, your son tried to take it back lol
The transparent film on the outside of tanghulu sometimes looks like paper, but it is actually edible rice paper. This kind of rice paper is safe to eat and is usually used to prevent the tanghulu from sticking to your hands while keeping the sugar coating intact. So, if the "paper" on the outside of the tanghulu is rice paper, you can safely eat it. If you are unsure, you can ask the vendor or carefully observe it. Generally, rice paper is quite thin and dissolves easily in your mouth.
glutinous rice paper can be eaten, and commonly used on candy to protect candy from its wrapping paper. (A thin film made from starch. It can be used to package candy, Dim sum or medicines, and can be moisture-proof.)
kids so lucky to be able to travel and walk the great wall at that age. how many can say that?! too bad you had such a cloudy misty day but I guess you might be use to that kind of weather 😅
@@travelshorts I think you are truly a great father. If my father could take me from a young age to experience different customs and cultures around the world, I would be extremely grateful, best wishes for you and your lovely children❤️
48:45 OMG, this is not plastic but edible rice paper to be eaten with the strawberries, to prevent your face and hands from touching the sugar coating.
At 48:49 seconds in the video, the strawberry candied haws are covered with edible glutinous rice paper, which is mainly used to prevent the sugar coating of the candied haws from sticking together and to extend the shelf life. The production process of glutinous rice paper involves adding gelatin, starch and lecithin to clean water, stirring evenly, filtering and drying.
That transparent thin wrapping on the strawberries is made of gluten rice paste and it’s edible that’s can also find in some Chinese candies to preventing sticking to your fingers,a clever way to eat, westerners have no idea what that is.
Thank you so much for creating and sharing such an excellent video. Looking forward to seeing other parts of your China trip. All I saw so far are more than great!
Checking your video, I think you went to Beijing in early spring when the weather is rather smoggy or foggy. In my opinion the best time to visit Beijing is either in late spring/early summer or around mid autumn. At those times the weather is generally sunny and is neither hot nor cold.
The previous videos all want to talk about whether the child is too cold. You should wear more clothes only with one dress. Everyone else wears down jackets. Of course, your family has finished their trip and hope to come again next time.
