It's not just the American accent pronunciation that's amazing, it's the way she lowers her voice and adds the subtle vocal fry effect that makes it absolutely flawless.
She was showing how it is acting, a facade. Typical of Americans actually, they always seem like they are performing for an invisible audience. Like teenagers, actually.
@@Studentofgossetno, Americans are simply a bit more extroverted as a culture. To you it may seem like performing, but really it's just that there's a certain openness in general American interactions. They tend to have a lot of energy and passion, and that is reflected in their movement and expression at any age.
Most British actors can do a decent American accent, but there’s always something tiny or underlying that isn’t quite native or natural in American English speakers. Her intonation and accent, though, are completely flawless and effortless. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else do two accents perfectly.
How can you say Native? I don't think American English is Native. Nothing is natural is the cess pit of America. African Americans are not African neither are the Irish. You are American nothing else.@@zoltanszaszi2264
@@davidjorgensen877Throughout the 2000s, most people didn't even know that Laurie and Bale were English ...Also, I don't think Tom Holland belongs on that list, his accent is very good, but not better Eve's
American accents are easy to pull off with how much exposure there is to American media. That’s why it’s harder for American actors to use a British accent.
okay put it like this. you grow up watching american movies, tv shows etc. pulling off an american accent seems amazing to americans but not so much to other countries
Actually a lot of actors suck at American accents and you can tell they're not from this country. On top of that, Chris Pratt did an accent on the Graham Norton Show that he got from watching TOWIE and the British audience was amazed.
EGarrett01 so one american pulled off a British accent? Check out keanu Reeves attempt in Dracula 🤣 The British can do american accents better than americans can do British accents
To be fair, the american accent is a fusion of many different accents from immigrants all over the world, making it very generic and probably the easiest to learn.
yeah i dont get whats so great about doing an american accent. i learned from watching shows as a kid. my friend from new york tells me i "sound like a white girl"
she has a perfect los angeles accent. it's crazy. where she holds her voice in her throat changes when she switches accents, it's lower in the throat. the shape of her smile changes and effects her accent in a way that's 100% native los angeles.
What do you mean, "Its all over our TV's"? Are you saying American television shows are frequently broadcast in England? If yes, please state which shows,..if you don't mind.
My best friend was born in the UK and moved to LA when she was 8 -- I didn't meat her until she was 24. I didn't know she was English until her grandmother called her and she switched without skipping a beat into her native accent and it freaked me out.
She’s damn right about peer pressure. It forced me to change accents (German ones and Swiss) every two years - it was horrible back then. Now it is fun because for about five different regions I can pretend to be native.
When you‘re german and recognize the change after the fourth time watching the video. Now the joke is dead. I don‘t care, I‘m german, I‘ve no humor anyways...
American makes her seem more relatable and down to earth, a more calming tone. The British one seems more pretentious and be judgemental, at least to me
When I travel, it doesn't take long for me to subconsciously slip into the accent and speech patterns of the company I'm with. In 1998 I was on a scuba dive cruise in Australia with fellow dive tourists from around the globe. All day long I'd been conversing with people from different countries, all speaking English with their own native accents, and I'd found myself just naturally falling into their speech patterns. That evening, after the day's diving was done, we were all gathered together on deck enjoying memories of our day under the night sky, and I found myself surrounded by everyone all at once. With nowhere to hide, my only choice was to revert to my own Canadian accent. I got a lot of weird looks that night.
I almost always know when an actor is British/Australian in real life while watching a movie. I end up looking it up during the movie to see if I'm right and I usually am. They over pronounce things and sound like they have something in their mouths it's very noticeable.
I remember back in 2002, when I was in Los Angeles for the first time, staying at Hollywood Hostel (awesome place btw). I'm from Sweden, and I was travelling alone, so I just kind of hung out and talked to whoever was around. On day five a guy from Norway and a guy from Denmark showed up, and we wound up sitting out on the patio playing guitar and talking (Danes, Norwegians and Swedes can sort of understand each other, at least enough to make light conversation). One of the guys on the staff, who I had been hanging out with quite a bit, came out and was just staring at me. I went "What...?" And he went "Where the fuck are you from??" "I'm from Sweden." "I seriously thought you were from southern California!" I always knew my english was good, but now I also know where to believably fake where I'm from - if needs be. :-)
Hound19745 Strange question to that anecdote.... No, I didn't. But then again getting laid wasn't really a priority for me with that trip. I had basically emptied my savings to spend two weeks seeing LA and San Francisco. My time and money were spent on Universal Studios, Six Flags, Alcatraz, movie theatres, souvenirs and food (prioritized in that order). Had someone offered I wouldn't have turned them down, but I was too busy with more important things to spend any time trying to get laid. I did go to Universal a second time, with a danish girl staying at the hostel, and we had a great time going on the rides, seeing the shows etc.
Geovanny Tejada Oh I did, and do. I've been back to LA once more (in 2006), and as soon as I feel comfortable returning to the US (as things are right now, I really don't), I have Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas as my top west coast priorities. I wanna show the missus all these awesome places!
Mikael Karlsson understandable things in our country are a bit “unusual” at the moment, but things will get back to normal soon I hope. We are a young country with many faults. And still are learning some hard lessons. Don’t lose faith in America 🇺🇸 🤙🏽 had a blast in Europe a few months back, hope to see you and you’re country men and women back here one day.
I was told by a Swedish businessman that when doing business in Norway (and the reverse also true), nobody speaks Swedish or Norweigian...they speak English.
I'm like this when I talk my native language Norwegian. I am from the west cost, but grew up in the east, and kids would make fun of me for having another accent, so I learned how to do the other accent. And now I can switch back and forth easily, and it's very funny to shock people who don't know me well heheh
If she came to LA as a child she probably speaks with the American accent but because of her family background, she can easily switch to Britsh accent, not the other way round.
I think its because we suck so bad at faking a british accent that we are in such shock when we hear someone doing our accents, Im saying this as a canadian who went to a british highschool
I swear, for the longest time my brother believed that Gillian Anderson was British because her British accent is so spot on. Mind you, we're not British ourselves (we're French) so we don't hear it every day and are probably much easier to fool then an actual Brit would be.
I don’t think it’s that difficult if you spend time with whichever group of people you’re switching too. I have a traditional English accent but can go very strong Welsh because it was brought up there
i’m a british-canadian, and I moved to canada when I was six. I learned to do the accent straight away, and i can switch instantly. it’s really not that hard.
it's almost creepy because her american accent is so natural and her british accent sounds like she's trying too hard to be seductive. her american accent sounds like her real accent.
Tesla: Changes humanity but received little praise in his lifetime. Alice Eve: Speaks with an American accent and people act like she's just solved world hunger.
