I think the protagonist was not in that area. They must be in alienate country. First is the destruction, the second is the kind of painting. Why it is selective.

Well I don't understand is this. During an art heist say a person steals several Van Gogh paintings for example. Say they stole these things from a museum or a private collector. There was obviously be a record of these paintings having belonged in this museum or belonging to this collector. So finding a buyer must be very difficult. You have to find someone who is okay with buying stolen artwork. Meaning that they the buyer can't really show it off in their home. I love art but I'm not sure that I would spend millions of dollars buying artwork that I couldn't share with my friends and family and that I would have to hide. At least every time someone comes over to the house because no matter who you are not everybody you know is a criminal even if you are and most of the people you know are. There is always at least a few people that aren't involved in illegal activity and would probably turn you in. That's why I don't understand about stealing artwork is because it's so traceable. If it disappears from a museum and it ends up at your friend's house it's pretty simple to understand how it got there.

cut million dollar paintings from their frames & damaging the irreplaceable paintings is foolish!!! when you can be on your way with the painting attached to it's frame??? if it has to be cut then dismantle the frame by an experienced frame technician after the robber has left their crime scene!!! stealing or robbery ain't that easy afterall!!! consequences always catch on!!! but the mockery of a successful robbery is always embarrassing!!!

As a kid, my mother used to take me to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. It's a gorgeous place and my favorite museum; after some horrid Curator stole all of the treasures out of the Metropolitan Museum in NYC to build some joke called The American Room which is actually nothing more than an empty connecting hallway. This theft is part of the New World Order; the rich looting the public of everything from Met treasures to the attempted theft of the New York Thruway; and in particular, anything of educational value; like letting ALEC into our school systems. What happened to all of those valuable art treasures that once graced the Met and belonged to the public? I believe they were all given to Randolph Hearst to decorate his personal tribute to his narcissistic ego: Hearst Castle out in California.

I suspect there are egos involved. This is my take: Transport ahead one hundred years. The thieves, the journalist, the police, everyone involved in the museum are all dead. Now (ie the future) the works are lost to the human race. There is a point where you have to admit defeat. Yes your principles are violated. But in my humble opinion the real villains are those who had it within their grasp to recover these treasures but failed to do so. Yes some petty criminals have got away with it - but the reality is that the artworks are lost.

The stock footage in this documentary was so annoying. They didn't even try to make things look like they do in real life. They even cut away to an image of "the museum" and it was some totally random looking building that was not the Isabella Steward Gardner museum.
