The Avatar making of doc is one I rewatch regularly. It may get overlooked due to the mixed reviews of the film itself, but from a technology standpoint, it's incredible. Seeing how they spent x years just developing the technology before they could even begin filming and now to witness the impact that tech has had on the industry is highly inspiring. Would recommend to anyone.
Oh man what they achieved in that film is incredible. Cameron is the king of making things happen. I remember watching that doc way back when the Bluray first came out but haven't revisited it since. Thanks for the recommendation!
Good choices. I would add Hearts of Darkness and Burden of Dreams - 'making of' docs on two of the most challenging shoots in history. Filmmaking hardly gets more intense than what they show.
I would add a couple... Like someone else has said already, Hearts of Darkness, about the making of Apocalypse Now is one. The other is Dangerous Days, the making of Blade Runner. I believe that one is over tree hours long, and just amazing.
Dude we have the same taste in movies. Magnolia is in my top 3. Absolutely brilliant. Steve Jobs doesn’t get enough love - the dialogue is INSANE. Michael Fassbender is crazy good as Steve. I also love these bonus features. Sometimes I’ll start a movie and then just get lost in the BTS instead. Also love David Fincher. Zodiac is probably my most rewatched by him.
