God, I love this show!!! Being from the UK, I could only dream of being in the States in the 80s! My fave closing track would be 'Wild in the Streets' off Slippery When Wet 🤘🏼

Dream Warriors - Dokken and this not even up for discussion.

The first song that popped in my head was “Stronger Now”, maybe one of the most beautiful songs written in this genre. I stuck to songs that either make me want to run through a wall or hit me firmly in the “feels”. Trixter - On The Road Again (off the underrated “Hear”) Stryper - Rock The Hell Out Of You (Against The Law) Lillian Axe - Letters In The Rain (Love & War) Hurricane - Smiles Like A Child (Slave To The Thrill) Heavy Bones - Where The Living Is Easy (Self Titled) Britny Fox - cover of Midnight Moses (Bite Down Hard) Sweet FA - Southern Comfort (Stick To Your Guns) The Scream - Can’t Catch Me (Let It Scream) Tesla - Toke About It (Psychotic Supper) And as much as I love Jani Lane, I really liked Warrant’s “Rockaholic” with Robert Mason in the fold and “The Last Straw” is a banger.

Mindcrime is my all-time favorite album. Every metal fan should experience it!

This is by far my favorite channel on RU-vid. Glad to also find the 80s Glam Metal Cast and HairBandBasement from here as well. I love all these closing tracks, but would add AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie and Night Prowler, Aerosmith - Home Tonight, Winger- Who's the One, and Headed For a Heartbreak, Extreme- Hole Hearted, Kix - Yeah Yeah Yeah, and Sex, Van Halen - On Fire, Beautiful Girls, and House of Pain, Cinderella - Back Home Again, Dokken - Til The Livin End. Honestly though all the tracks you both picked are amazing

In My Dreams was the Dokken video where they were playing in the rain. That song was probably their biggest hit and has my favorite George Lynch solo.

Cool episode guys! A few tasty ones I forgot that were closing tracks on albums - War Machine (Kiss) and Rocket Queen (GnR). For some reason I always thought War Machine was like 5th or 6th track on Creatures. And Rocket Queen? Hell yeah I remember hearing Appetite for Destruction the whole album the first time through and thinking It's So Easy was the best tune until I heard Rocket Queen and was just blown away by how cool that tune is. I've gotta talk about Ozzy here for a second. While Ozzy isn't really hair metal, there's no doubt that his most "hair metal" album is The Ultimate Sin. The closing track on that album is Shot In The Dark. Who's idea was it to put this song last?! I mean, I love Ultimate Sin, but really - Shot In The Dark is obviously head and shoulders above the rest of the tracks. It would be like Van Halen putting Jump as the last track on 1984! Some other closing tracks I really dig are: Time for Change (Motley Crue/Dr. Feelgood), Top Secret (Ratt/Detonator), and He's Back The Man Behind The Mask (Alice Cooper/Constrictor). When it comes to Ratt, I think they missed their mark for releasing a ballad to launch them into the Motley Crue and Bon Jovi league. They really should have had a ballad on either Invasion of Your Privacy or Dancing Undercover. Dokken had Alone Again in 1984 and Crue had Home Sweet Home in 1985, and Bon Jovi with Wanted Dead or Alive in 1986. Ratt was just too late to the party in 1990 and honestly Detonator is such a killer album it's got great songs and great production, but I feel like people were over Ratt by that time. Anyways - great episode once again. And I always love the humor in between and of course the cameos by Charley. Rock on!

I miss Jani Lane so much. I met him 3 times all within a 6 month period and he was so cool and down to earth each time. I wish he could’ve got the proper help he needed. He was a talented and good guy that needed help but hopefully he’s in a better place. I seriously think he was more talented than most musicians of his era. Miss that guy

The ending of Rocket Queen made you want to start the album all over . I always liked Please Dear as closing to Faster Pussycats Wake Me . But I’ll go On With The Show , Motley Too Fast and What It Takes Aerosmith Pump .. Tyler destroys .. oh wait , Sad Theresa on Warrants Dog ..

I must agree with you under lock And key is my favorite, the video in the rain is IN MY DREAMS, BUT I AM TELLING YOU lightning strikes again 2008 is a fantastic album from start to finish it is definitely in my top 4 for dokken albums

Rocket Queen automatically wins. It manages to cover so much musical and emotional ground in under 7 mins. Equal parts ballad and rocker. War Machine and Rock N Roll Ain't Noise Pollution should get honorable mentions, though.

Back for the Attack went Platinum and was Dokken’s highest charting album at #13. They were at their peak when they broke up doing the Monsters of Rock tour with Van Halen and Metallica.

I would have to add "No Pain, No Gain" from Keel's Final Frontier album. Amazing album I just rediscovered and that song just leaves you wanting more when Ron Keel's scream ends it.

So I had to go through my collection and find some standout closing tracks. Tear it Down is the last hard rockin banger on a terrible album and the original Hysteria version is even better more rough and heavy

Regarding Dokken, I think "Heaven Sent" was the next closest to breaking through. It briefly made it to Dial MTV's top 10 for a minute.

Def Leppard- Tear it down (Adrenalize) was definitely a great closer track. I know you guys suggested replacing Love Bites, but replacing Love and Affection would have been a much better choice as I thought that song was such a whimper compared to the rest of the album at the time. Guns N' Roses- Rocket Queen (Appetite) was a great closer that finished the entire sound of one of the most 'complete' albums ever made. Britney Fox- Hold On (Self Titled) was a great closer song as well. Ozzy Osbourne- Shot In The Dark (Ultimate Sin) and Diary of a Madman (Diary of a Madman) were both killer tracks. While 'technically' not a closer track, Warrant- Ode to Tipper Gore (Cherry Pie) was hilarious at the time. As for Dokken- Back For the Attack, I believe the biggest song on that album was Burning Like a Flame. That's the song that got me into them. Love the shoutout to The Whinery Dogs. Awesome band that I hope stays around now that Portnoy went back to Dream Theater. Kiss- Unholy is literally my favorite Kiss song; even though I love a lot of their stuff from both singers.

Top of the world was a single and had a promotional video

For the most part, prior to Appetite for Destruction most bands had musically followed in the footsteps of The New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Just with more and more leanings towards the looks of either New York Dolls or Judas Priest (Hair Metal) or the looks of Motorhead and the kid in the front row (Thrash). It wasn't until Appetite that the throwback to more of the Aerosmith, Rolling Stones really appeared both musically and visually. Sure, there were lots of bands who blurred those lines, but it was Guns who broke big first. I know in my circle of musicians it was almost as big of a reset as the 91 reset. Most of the grunge bands were just rehashed Pre-NWOBHM hard rock with punk and pop senilities thrown in.

... And still the dissing of Love Bites continues!! What even is this!!!!!!!!!

I like "Heartbreak Station", but I have a cut down version I made, as some of the songs do drag a bit. Cutting those bits out makes the album more "on point".

I feel exactly the same about the Adrenalize album. It felt already a bit dated upon it's release and the songs weren't as good as before. But Tear it Down is a killer.

“Closer to My Heart” was a ballad from “Invasion of your Privacy”…. Not that great of a song and fortunately wasn’t released as a single. Reach For The Sky’s ballad “I Want To Love You Tonight” was even worse.

You could maybe do like a top 10 songs by female singers. And Marcie Free doesnt count😂
