@@Lnps123 That's fair. To be honest I almost didn't list him, but his vocals on the Pull album are very strong, especially on songs like "Who's The One". And I feel like his vocals have been great on the newer albums, but just my opinion.

They work! 🙌 Not many people are coaches for singing and speaking. Usually, people are 1 or the other. So many good 👍 singers here.

@@HairMetalGuru419 . Thank Buddy. Glad your enjoying it. I have been listening too a few bands you put me on to like McQueen Street, Lillian Axe and Krokus. Back in the 80s we never got introduced to new metal of any sort uses it was from someone you had an album and they taped it for you, or you went too the City too the big Metal for Melbourne music store and gambled on the artwork of the album and purchased it. We have 4 Radio stations and 1 was Rock, it only played the Monster hits and bands until Sunday night and they had a Metal hour at 11pm. We also had Casey Casums top40 that sometimes introduced us to new bands..MTV came in 88 but it was a 2 hr show on Friday&Saturday night and mostly Aussie acts and huge commercial stuff...No such thing as Headbangers ball, that came in 98/99 when we got our version of cable TV. We had a show called RAGE, about once every 2 months they had a metal night that went for 6-7 hours. I would set my VCR up, Put a 4hr tape on long play, record over night,wake up and see if I got a few gems. If I was lucky I would record it onto my Metal VCR Cassette and have a 4hr compilation of various metal/ Rock songs...That would be our music play list on the weekend. I had it hooked up too my mums Marantz stereo which pumped hard and loud, grab a case of beer and have all my mates over and push play. We had no venues too see live bands unless you travelled 2 hrs and even then it was rare. Was always envious of the guys in USA as you had 24hrs cable, lots of Rock venues and clubs that played Rock. Bands toured through out the states, we only rarely got the BIG BANDS, occasionally we got the lesser at the time bands like Skid Row and Warrant when they first started and were still quiet small...Warrant were sensational, best band for having a great time on stage and with the crowd I have ever seen... Nah Mark Slaughter is fantastic. Smooth but with a tint of grit. Unique sound which is always welcomed by me. If someone doesn't think he sounds great cut them out of your life. Ha
I'm a fan of lots of styles of metal and I'm happy there's a channel that celebrates the days of hair metal and the great music instead of criticizing the entire era.
David Glen Eisley is one of the genre’s best. Check out his soaring vocal performances on “Love You Forever”, “Call To The Heart” and “Lonely In Love”. If you want a CD that features two of the great vocalists mentioned in this video, check out Atsushi Yokozeki Project - “Raid” which has Kelly Hansen on vocals for the song “More Than Enough” and David Glen Eisley singing “Straight To Your Heart”.
I'm so glad you listed Danny Vaughn. Waysted's Heaven Tonight was a massive hit in Brazil and I had the chance to watch him in Sao Paulo. Great wrinting in the song Death of the Tiger under the band name Vaughn.
I love Ryan's inclusion of the Rock God from Malta, the one and only Marc Storace. IMO, what separates Storace from the Brian Johnson's of the world is his ability to be a vocal chameleon. He can sing any style (e.g., rock, pop, ballads, thrash metal, heavy metal) with frightening efficiency. IMO, 1980's Metal Rendez-vous and 1983's Headhunter are 2 of the best metal albums of that decade. It's important to note that Krokus put out 2 fantastic albums in the 2000's (e.g., 2003 Rock The Block, 2006 Hellraiser) and Storace's vocal abilities had not diminished one bit.
I love Tesla so much and Jrff is such a great guy.....I got to meet him and he signed a couple cds for me. Please check out Bar 7 if you haven't already. Saw them live once and I wish Tesla would play those songs live, fantastic record....great singer/guy!
I'd have to say that Miljenko Matijevic of Steelheart has to get my vote. I'd say in the rest of the top five I'd have Sebastian Bach, Geoff Tate, Jani Lane and Jack Russell.
Don Dokken, Tony Harnell, Jani Lane are some of the greatest but there are so many great vocalists that you could probably never name them all in one video

Great list! Some of my favorites on there, Was relieved that Axl and Vince were left off because, yes, they did great stuff in the studio but live they made the same noises a cat makes when you step on its tail and have only gotten worse with time. I would have probably swapped out a couple guys in favor of Paul Stanley and Sammy Hagar, but I also understand why they were not included. I will throw a few singers out there now that might not make anybody else's list, but I think they're cool. Graham Bonnet----very untraditional rock singer. He seems like he'd be more suited for Broadway but he has some pretty rocking credentials. He deserves props just for being able to deal with both Richie Blackmore and Yngwie Malmsteen long enough to record some classic stuff. He also recently appeared on a recent single from the guy who replaced Yngwie in Alcatrazz, Steve Vai, and still sounds like he always has. Desi Rexx----the singer from D'Molls sounds like the half way point between Vince Neil and Bret Maichaels. So he has limited range but something about the way he sings (particularly the way he rolls his R's) really does it for me. Mitch Malloy----kind of a neverwasbeen but also a shouldabeen. I don't know why this guy never broke through, he had all the right ingredients but somehow never really got anywhere. I can't stand this guy (either as an artist or a person) but one guy that should at least be talked about in this context is Jim Gillette. I remember seeing ads for his vocal lessons on VHS for several years in magazines like Hit Parader and Bam. Then he formed one of the most horrific bands of all time with ambidextrous guitar abuser Michael Angelo, called Nitro. Their live shows were notorious for Gillette's schtick of trying to shatter bar glasses with his 8-octave voice. Take evry bad hair metal cliche, pump them up on steroids, and roll them into one band and you would have Nitro. But in terms of vocal range, Jim Gillette reigns supreme. However the actual tone of his voice was absolutely terrible. Nitro is probably the worst hair band of all time. So bad that when they split, their drummer Bobby Rock joined Nelson. Don't know why I had to go off on a rant about Nitro, but here we are.LOL

His 1988 cover of Wild Thing rocked so hard and don't get me started on that powerful scream of his. face melting and ear shattering. hands down a true rock star.
There's 4 metal God vocalists in my opinion. Bruce Dickinson ,ironmaiden, Rob Halford judas priest, Geoff tate queensryche, and Ronnie James dio of dio.. I was fortunate enough to meet nicko mcbrain and work for him and travel with ironmaiden on tour brave new world tour saw Bruce Rob and Geoff all on same tour then Ronnie James dio and motorhead lemmy the next year best two tours of my life but meeting Jimmy page was the highlight of my career ❤️ nicko mcbrain thank you kid!!
I always wondered what happened to the band Brunette. Never saw them nor did I ever hear a demo even. What I did know about them was at the Monsters of Rock concert they had a plane fly over all day with Brunette Rocks flashing. Saw Stiff many times still have the shirt, they were great live. As far as singers go I would go with Stephen Clifford from Icon
I love Jani I worked at his club in Orlando Jani lanes sunset strip. I met him a few times and while working he pulled me aside and just talked to me to get to know me and see how I was. I must say when I heard his passing it hit me like I lost a family member he was so nice. Warrant even did a concert at his club and at the end I was getting the guys to sign my poster after the concert I was working as well so I got paid to see warrant lol anyway he asked if everybody signed it I said no ha said come on up to the dressing room and got everybody to sign it for me and got to meet everyone. He was so awesome and his wife at the time rowanne she was awesome as well. Hats off to Jani hope he's writing good music wherever he is cause when I go I want to go wherever these rockers are and comedians cause I know it's going to be a good time.
Hey Guru, I dont know if you're into it already or not, but I honestly think that you'd really get into a lot of Power Metal if you tried it. Much like the Hair bands there's a great emphasis on epic melodies, virtuoso guitar work, and (as per this video) soaring, heroic vocals. Only difference really is the lack of Blues influence and the subject matter tends more towards the D&D Fantasy territory. Good ones to begin with are European acts like Helloween, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Hammerfall, and Sonata Arctica. Some great American acts include Iced Earth, Kamelot, and Manowar. Angra from Brazil are awesome too. For fantastic vocals, check out Tommy Johansson's channel. Again, lots of potential crossover appeal for guys like us in my opinion. Anyways, happy exploring dude, and hope you discover something you love! PS - For straight up AOR/Hard Rock/Hair Metal from Europe, check out Nestor, Wig Wam, Reckless Love, Cruzh, Crazy Lixx, and Crashdiet to name but a few keeping the flame burning!
Personally i don't consider Queensryche hair metal but since others do the answer is Geoff Tate. Kiefer definitely in my discussion. So many great singers but who sounds like nobody else and hasn't/ can not be mimicked. Tom Keifer. Jeff Keith gets in my top 3 as he brings the dirt and grit. Now i gotta add a 4th in Mark Slaughter cause im thinking. Ha. Who else can sing a word like desperately like that?! Well shit i might as well add a 5th in Jack Russell. I gotta question how AC DC is in the hair metal genre? Bon is in my top 20 vocalists in rock history but no way theyre hair metal. I adhere to 82 to 92 as hair metal years.

This is James Anthony one of my favorites is Tony Harnell from TNT prime exsample of his voice is the ballad off of Realized Fantasies album called Lion Heart it is sung with alot of emotion it will hit you right in the heart
I'm 57 years old, I lived in L.A. during the late 80's playing in bands on the strip. I've never heard of half the people you mentioned. Where's Paul Shortino? Where's Tony Harnell? Those 2 and Sebastion would be in my top 3.
Nice video. I’m not a fan of Lillian Axe, Hardline, Wild Side, or The Sleez Beez. Plus I loved Angel Down & Give Em Hell. I also hate ballads but hey, we both share the same love for the greatest genre of music ever, which is Hair Metal. Also, I also graduated high school in ‘91. Life Goes On was our graduation song, although yours with Danger Danger, is cooler imo. I was always a huge mark for those guys! 🤘🏼
I agree he is the GOAT, but he wasn’t really hair metal even in Dio they were totally different from everything else that were going on at the time in the hair metal scene.
Michael SWEET ,STRYPER, DON DOKKEN, KIP WINGER, MICHAEL Matijevic,STEELHEART, JOEY TEMPTEST,EUROPE ,SEBASTIÁN BACH,I am not a huge fan of triumph I do like some of their music so I would put Rick Emmitt he can sing great,Jani lane, Rob Halford now I don't consider them hair metal but he is great,Tommy Shaw and Jack blades, almost forgot Jack Russell from great white and he is a great singer,seen them live in 1997 at a small club in Bay City Mi. That holds about 500 people maybe a little more and he is fantastic ,Geoff tate amazing seen queensrych also in 1989 open for Metallica great show
Has anyone ever explained the knob-twiddling behind Def Leppard's chorus vocals? It was on their debut single "Hello America" and obviously continued throughout the 80s. You can hear the Queen influence from songs like "Stone Cold Crazy". I've just always wondered because they can't duplicate it live, even though they try their best with the backing vocals.

Axl Rose 87 to 92 , not just the genre , but pretty much all time greats. The range was like a bastard child of Freddie Mercury and Meatloaf . That guy from Steelheart was fucking Cyborg . Taime was unique with Faster , Jani and Sebastian had power and range and great stage energy . Phil Lewis from LAGuns has held up well . Gary Cherone is underrated..
Look I'm all for the hair metal guys playing as long as they can but when I saw Jack Russell recently.. I just don't know what to say anymore.... In Great White themselves are just like skid row that they can't find a replacement
