A fascinating interview, with a punchline that is probably the best, most succinct advice that I have ever heard for anyone making their way in the world: "Equip yourself with skills that people are willing to pay for." I'm passing that on to my grandchildren.

On the flip side, many people want to be in my situation, but I doubt they would want to work my jobs and do my chores/obligations that allow me to live how I do. They also make fun of me for being lame and never going out to party with them. I never want to do anything fun in their view.

I'm in agreement with you; aside from just wage for the workers, no matter who; the whole premise collapses, and no, it does NOT pass onto the future generations. Part of my stance is that the workers will work more proficiently if they're paid well and treated well.

I've been listening to this *"White People Owe Black People Something for Nothing Just Because of the Color of Their Skin"* bullshit ever since the *1968 Olympics in Mexico City* when *Tommie Smith and John Carlos* placed black leather gloves on their right hands and held their clenched right fists up over their heads in the *Black Power Salute* while the *Star Spangled Banner* was being played during the *medal ceremony for the 200 meter dash event.* *Reparations made just as little sense in 1968 when I was 14 years old, as they do today in 2024 when I am now 70 years old. The passing of 56 years hasn't added any more validity to the concept of reparations.* *And, in fact, with all of the additional research that has been conducted.......* *Into the lives of the Founding Fathers, especially those who DID NOT own slaves;......* *Into the worldwide slave trade in general;......* *Into the disproportionate number of light-skinned Europeans who were directly enslaved by people with far darker skin, as compared to dark-skinned Africans who were enslaved by people with far lighter skin;......* *And, into the ACTUAL REAL UNDISPUTED numbers of African slaves who ended up in the North American colonies of England versus the number of African slaves who ended up enslaved in the Caribbean, in Mexico, in Central America, and in South America, and especially in Brazil, where in general those slaves were treated EXPONENTIALLY WORSE than in the North American British colonies and subsequently in the fledgling United States of America.......* *The idea of reparations is LAUGHABLE. The Black Community in the United States needs to get up off of its collective asses, start working hard to obtain an education and to legally earn those things it desires and requires. STOP looking for FREE STUFF!*

You are evading the reality of genuine race injustices that have been perpetrated! (1) American chattel slavery was a grave injustice against Black Americans. They have been harmed and damaged by it. (2) American Jim Crow segregation was a grave injustice against Black Americans. They have been harmed and damaged by it. (3) American COVERT race discrimination is a continuing grave injustice against Black Americans. They have been harmed and damaged by it. Reparations are meant to REPAIR the harm and damage that has been done against Black Americans! This must be acknowledged and handled HONESTLY, FAIRLY and INTELLIGENTLY!

The ugly truth is that race discrimination has stopped millions of Black Americans from advancing fairly despite applying hard work and earnest study! This is the hard reality of race injustices! MLK didn't have his huge Civil Rights marches for no reason at all!
