Bought one years ago because the manual oiler reminded me of the McCulloch 610. I use 20” and 27”. Just put 32” on and really like it. Great saw!

I prefer Husqvarna, as I do quite a bit of big tree work and tree removal. Even saying that, I can't disagree with you. For the normal guy out cutting firewood you can't go wrong with an echo. They're light, affordable, and remind me of Huskies in that they have great torque and they use much easier to acquire bars. People get caught up with the higher horsepower of Stihl, but trying to rev them up and not bog them is annoying. Torque > Horsepower. (I will make an exception for the Stihl 400c, that thing is amazing. The 201t is also a great workhorse top handle, even if it is a bit heavy) By the way, Echo arguably also makes the best climbing saw. An Echo 2511t is super light, and with a little work on the intake and exhaust you can run a 14 inch bar. Plus they're cheap. Like under 400 bucks. A Stihl 201t is almost a THOUSAND DOLLARS. I currently have a Husqvarna 555, 390xp and 592xp. My climbing saw is a Stihl 201t. I'm considering selling the 201t - and I may have to pick up a 680 along with the ported 2511t I've got my eye on. Cheers from SE MN.

I bought a 680 last year, it had all the right selling points for me, a long standing successful design and build quality, manual oiler, old school features common to 40 years ago, no smart electronics and the renowned reputation of Japanese engine quality. And all that for a very modest price $. It is amusing the way many saw users rate a saw, they get all wrapped up in the latest hot rod search. Durability is what counts, this saw delivers and so what if at the end of the day it took a half hour more to cut a load of wood than with the latest hot rocket saw. It is good to remember that any power saw is far better than you on the end of a manual saw!

Sheesh, you really got me thinking…almost convinced I should go with the 620p for power/weight ratio and overall build then I watch this segment. I can get either for the same price from my local shop and now I have more to think about.
@whatsthebuzz1
@whatsthebuzz1 8 месяцев назад
I hear you. I like both saws. I can tell you the differences that I know from running them. The 620 has better anti-vibe and is lighter. The 680 is built like a tank and I expect will outlast a 620. Both modify very easily and get nice power gains. If your after comfort go with the 620. If you don’t mind a heavier saw and want a tank go with the 680.
@Mark-Marine

You’re certainly enthusiastic about the 680. I have one and they are built like a tank. I’ve not run it as much as I could due to a lack of chains. I have remedies that and will put it into the wood soon.

Yeah I work at a tree svc. We have had 2 620s for years now. Good saws, had an 800, it was a lemon, was in the shop at least 3x a year. Partly in my opinion because the saw shop tec sucked ass. But yah know. Traded the 800 in for store credit and got like 10 cases of oil mix Had the 800 break down like mid falling huge 4 ft cedars, saw just shutdown, wouldn't fire, Was alot of arguing and finger pointing. That day 😅
@whatsthebuzz1

Would you take the echo 680 over the stihl MS 400?
@whatsthebuzz1
@whatsthebuzz1 6 месяцев назад
That’s more an argument on price. The 400 is about $400 more. I can tell you that with a muffler mod on the 680 it’s comparable power and speed wise to the 400c. Thanks for watching.
@southin47639
@southin47639 11 месяцев назад
If its an echo saw, thd 620p will out cut the 680. The stock setup for the 620 is better for buckin logs. Add a muffler mod to it and it will rip for a 60 cc saw.
@whatsthebuzz1
@whatsthebuzz1 11 месяцев назад
The 620 is a good saw, but the 680 is built stronger, has a better air filter system and a manual oiler. Long term I believe the 680 will last. Thanks for watching.
@calebstanger2641

The 680 closes the gap on the 620 when the bars get longer and wood gets bigger. It's just simply a stronger saw made for bigger work.

So its more weight then a 462 has less power then a 362 and its the greatest firewood saw? I would HIGHLY recommend a Stihl 462. It makes my 362 feel like a toy. Yes is slightly more weight but it cuts. She really REALLY cuts. And with a 25 inch bar full chisel full skip its just awesome. I got the WCS upgrade kit and it pushes the saw to the next level. I also like the Full wrap handle.
@whatsthebuzz1
@whatsthebuzz1 Год назад
Your comparing a professional logging saw to a firewood saw. The 462 is a great saw but costs $1300. But that saw is comparable to the echo 7310. And the echo 680 will blow the doors off any 362 it almost keeps up with the 400. Run one before you judge to much.
@LiveFreeOrRIP
@LiveFreeOrRIP Год назад
PS im an ECHO fanboy. However you cant compare a 700 echo saw vs a 1300 stihl. I LOVE LOVE the echo price and the quality. This could be a click bait video too where you want to stir up drama but not foolishly. Like saying MY CRAFTSMAN would work circles around your 462... Obviously that complete bs... I would bet my 462 would wipe the floor with this saw its an unfair comparison or is it? This say is more weight but around 6cc smaller.... Its obviously much less money. at the end of the day its all about what you like. To me there is something to be said about a big saw. But THE ones MOST people buy are 40 50cc. Most folks dont buy larger then 60cc Ever. So its a odd debate.
@LiveFreeOrRIP
@LiveFreeOrRIP Год назад
@@whatsthebuzz1 Well lucky for me I have the 261 50cc 362 60cc and the 462 72cc. I will see if I can land a sale on a Echo. Like I said im a Chainsaw FAN. I love them. Im not totally brainwashed. And im willing to bet it will run super SUPER close to the 362. There is NO way its going to win or loose by more than a couple of seconds in a cut test. The cool thing is if I can get performance like a 362 for 600 thats INSANE. But its also 2lbs more weight. So here we are again spinning in circles. Power to weight. if im going into the 14lb area there isnt much else I would want then a 462. I feel like its the perfect size and weight for bigger tasks. I might just make a video and buy a new 680. see how it compares to the pro Stihl saws.
@whatsthebuzz1
@whatsthebuzz1 Год назад
Yeah. I don’t care about weight. I run 90cc saws a lot. I have an 075 that weighs 40lbs with a 36 bar and chain. Personally the weight thing seems like just a marketing scheme. What are they skimping on to save weight? The heavier the better for me. I won’t them to last!

Still, I am more than happy, for now, with my lesser saws: Senix 49cc 4 stroke 18" Kobalt & Greenworks 80v 18" for trimming and limbing downed trees * Salem Master 62cc 22" for cutting up 30"+ hardwood All in, I've got about $600.00 invested, including plenty of spare chains and (2) 80v String Trimmers + (1)extra 5Ah Battery I've bucked more than 10 Cords(7x Black Walnut, 2x Tulip Poplar) and Random hardwoods. Note: I'm not in the firewood business, just getting old(70) and preparing for future winters.......
