If you want to show a newcomer to the sport what Rugby is all about, this match should be the default choice from now on. It had everything. The skill, the drama and the defending champions vs the ascendant hosts. What more could one ask for?

It's like players took turns stepping up in the knockout rounds Etzebeth, Kriel, Libbok in this game, the whole bench in the England game and Pieter-Steph, Willemse in the final. Handre Pollard was outstanding throughout, really shows how important the kicking game is.

Its astounding how fast Cheslin Kolbe looks. It's like he's moving at 2x speed in comparison to everyone else.

Etzebeth got his yellow didn’t question it, acknowledged it and seems to me he drifted towards the French players while running out likely apologising to the guy he hit. That’s all you can expect, professional and accountability👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

I had American friends over to introduce rugby to them with this game. They absolutely loved the sport. They watched all the other games and are now rugby fans. Thats how much this game did for new spectators.

The most beautiful moment was after the final whistle, the Springboks did not get carried away with celebrations but they embraced and showed respect to the hosts 🇫🇷 who tested them immensely. The magnanimous World Champions 🇿🇦 showed humility.

Both quarter final games of 2 finalists were amazing... I remember watching Ireland v New Zealand and thought nothing would top it... Then this game came and it was 2x as nice, being played at ferocious pace from start to finish...

So glad I could see this game live. Watching South Africa during the knockout stages was the most excited and emotional I’ve ever felt watching sports.

I don't usually comment a lot on RU-vid, but I finally summoned the courage to rewatch this game because as it was happening I knew that it will go down as one of the best games ever played. I was afraid that if I watched it again that the result might change, but luckily it didn't and our (SA) magical run to become champions remains in tact. It's disheartening to see so many rugby fans try to take away and bash our performance/our style/complaining about the refereeing and some being downright nasty to our country and players. These commenters say that we are the worst team to have won it, that we do not play with any style, that we were lucky and that we do not deserve to be champions. Please watch this game again. There will always be elements in rugby that are out of your control. But when I see teams not converting their tries/penalties you are going to have to criticise yourself first for not putting points on the board when things are under your control. France in this game missed out on 4 points with their kicking. There are plenty of great videos showing that Kolbe's chargedown was legit so I don't think there's room to debate that. New-Zealand didn't convert in the final as well, but still some fans are overlooking these instances and jumping straight to the refereeing - the things out of their control. I'm not saying that refereeing shouldn't be criticised, but all teams played under these rules as they were instated. Going forward things might change and the TMO interactions might change, but all teams were playing under these rules as interpreted by the officials. So don't put our Springboks down, 3 points were the difference between three teams that could all have won it. We played some of the highest quality rugby we have ever played and we had the hardest road to a final out of any World Cup thus far. We deserve it, just like France, New Zealand, England also would have deserved it had they won. I would have been sad if we lost, but I would also have accepted it. I would have accepted that there will always be contingencies you could nit-pick that might have changed the outcome, but the game goes on and life goes on. I hope when all the emotions settle that people will look at our boks' performance with a bit more grace and realise that you can't will the ball to bounce into your hands at all times. I'm beyond proud of our Boks and country and thankful to be alive to have witnessed one of the greatest teams do what they do best. Winning.

So, the yellow card worked out in the end as it gave Etzebeth a breather for 10 minutes right in the middle of the game. This meant he could play to the final whistle without being subbed. He came back fresh after his rest to be at his best for the last 35 minutes and score the decisive try. Thanks TMO! What a legend

Hands down the greatest game I've ever got to watch live on TV. The level of intensity and skills from both sides was insanely next level. Both teams were winners on this day for the display of rugby we got to witness. France👏🏼 just Wow! there wouldn't of been any other team in the world that could of level up to the France on that day but South Africa.

This was the play of the game for me 14:14. SA could have used a long pass option to left-wing with a dummy cover but decided to play smart secure rugby and give it their No.4. What a try under so much pressure!

Nearly 6 months later and this game is still breathtaking in every aspect, being a South African, here are my top moments...(1)Cheslin charges down to stop the conversion and then goes on to score a try, (2) Eben gets yellow carded, gets booed and comes back to score a try muscling 3 French players attempting to stop him and (3)Faf snatching the ball out of the hands of France's biggest and probably strongest player for the win in the last seconds...if this world cup did not show the rest of the world the special teamwork within this Springboks team then I don't know what will, every single player taking full responsibility upon their shoulders....Ox vs England, Pieter-Steph vs NZ in the final, Handre In the semis and the final, D Willemse throuought the tournament, Kwagga vs England, Deon F throughout the tournament, RG vs England, Mannie vs Scotland, Kurt Lee, Jesse K, Trevor, Bongi, etc...in the rugby field these guys could die for one another🔥🔥🔥...if this culture remains, no one can bet against them playing a 3rd world cup final in a row

Before this match, I was fully ready to feel empathy for France if they lost, same as I did with Japan. But I was at the stadium and the way the French fans behaved both individually and collectively was so appalling that I’m glad they lost.

As a Frenchman, I say the Springboks are world class, they just wanted it more than my beloved France. Yes, the Springboks deserved the victory, and the referee was actually very fair.

Best game at this World Cup by far, Ireland-NZ and Ireland-Bokke second and third. Few games that compare to it, certainly one of the greatest games of all time.

I was luycky enough to watch this game as events unfolded. Never cared for France, but they were fierce to the end. South Africa is a monster team, best of the competition hands down. They deserved the world cup.

France had an excellent team, the big difference and the only difference between France and South Africa is that the boks could always deliver on the day where it mattered, no other team in this tournament could. For us, it's about developing our players, taking our losses, learning from our mistakes, and winning when it really counts. Our losses have been arguably as important as our victories. We are the first team to abandon shame to leverage losses to navigate our course through both World Cups. The first and only team willing to utilize losing as a valid strategy to achieve victory. The first team willing to take an outside of the box approach with such great success. Who would think of using the bench as a tool! You can copy us or change the rules as much as you wish, but creativity is part of who we are, we'll just come up with something else.

This game was amazing. Best game I've ever seen.

For me this was the real final or the defining match of the tournament. I felt the winner of this would go on to win the cup. I still think France would have gone all the way if they had prevailed in this game. In that sense I feel gutted for them - in fact they have always been my "2nd" team after SA - actually hope they get the next one.

The 2023 RWC will always be a tossup between England, NZ, France, Ireland and SA. They were all superb and any of them could have won it on a different day. As a South African im just glad it happened to be the Boks!! 🎉😅

I watch quite a bit of soccer too but those soccer games just cant compare to a game like this for excitement Rugby is the real football.
