Eddie as a goofy meme blob is the best thing to happen to this game. Edgy Demon Shark Eddie was great and all, but this new version is just friggin' iconic.
As much as youre clowning on it i genuinely love this concept page because yeah the drawings arent great but you can see how they used these ideas in his finished design. Goes to show concept art just has to show off an idea and not be a masterpiece.

I feel like Daisuke had an art block on Eddie so he started making meme blobs out of frustration and one of his friends said that one was cute, so he was like "LET ME CAAAARVE YOUR WAAAAAYYYYY", strummed a killer solo on an air guitar and added him in.
2:05 Those two bodies being the same is standard fare in character sheets. As others have already said, these things are meant to be done relatively fast and warrant a ton of shortcuts being taken. It's actually fairly common to see concept sheets that are literally the same exact drawing copy-pasted with a different weapon, outfit, etc. That said, this Eddie sheet has some real golden meme material on it. My favorite part is that you can still see stray bits of black left behind from Eddie's form being erased into shape.
Eddie has got to be the most fun character to draw cuz there’s no such thing as a bad eddie drawing You can’t muck it up, a five year old could attempt to draw him and it’s still accurate.
I actually really like this concept art for Eddie it works perfectly for the character cus it’s a dark wacky wavy inflatable arm flailing tube demon lol
As dumb as it is, you can’t actually have Eddie on you like in the art… Imagine if Zato had a dragon install like move where he transforms into Eddie on the ground.

That's how concept art works? You don't just draw a beautiful illustration right away and it's a final concept that goes into the game. And idea can come to you anywhere so you can draw on your phone or some piece of paper in metro. Or you only have colors in mind so you just draw a random shape to see how these colors go together. (I'm pretty sure these were drawn on phone with finger)
I think I explained this in another comment, but yes, I understand this. I just like the funny faces. Also, compared to the rest of the art this is VERY early in the design process. Things like Gios boots and all of the bust shots were already pretty much decided, while Eddie's art was so early in its stages we never even saw most of the faces.
That's what "actual" concept art generally looks like. You've gotta do a few hundred of those from which almost all of them get thrown away, so nobody has time to make them look nice. The more junior artists will turn it into something readable later.
