@@mikeysbusy he can’t play off ball at all. He isn’t good enough to handle the ball every possession over shai. If he could shoot he’d be fine but he can’t do that either. No shooting, no defense, no off ball skills, can’t create his own shot, can’t even bully smaller defenders with his 6’8 PG frame
as a thunder fan im so okay with this season , we need another big and another bucket getter then let jdub and chet mold into the players they look like theyll be
Giving up Giddey AND a first round pick for two first round picks seems to be a tad bit counter productive. Giddey is still pretty good to be apart of the rebuild.
He doesn’t fit our team at all. Mark basically guaranteed him gone by benching him in games 5 & 6. He has some skills but he’s not good at all unless he has the ball in his hands and you can’t take the ball from Shai/JDub
@@mikeysbusy Giddey ruined his own progression by not learning off ball basketball. He can’t shoot and doesn’t play defense. Shai is a PG and will be forever. The team is much better with the ball in his hands over Giddey.
@@chancejanssen190 Giddey's just 21 and he has improved as a defender and his shooting is developing as well. People forget quickly how he helped OKC greatly run the offense especially on facilitating the offense since he's the only pure passer in that team, he is the primary playmaker for them. Growth is only just gonna get better for Giddey soon just because the Thunder didn't make it to the WCF or Finals this year doesn't mean they're not gonna make it at some point soon enough with their roster & assets, I believe in Giddey's potential/Ceiling once he reaches that form at some point maybe next season or after that that'll be the key as well to prolong OKC's dominance as consistent contenders for championships
@@slender289 his shooting is “improving” because he’s been taking less and less 3s every year he’s been in the league. His pure passing is good but he’s definitely not the only playmaker on the team at all. Shai has proven to lead quite a good offense. Same as Jalen Williams. Giddey hasn’t shown nearly enough to make Shai an off ball guard. Giddey is nearly useless on offense unless he has the ball. There’s nothing he’s improved on in that aspect to show he’s able to do anything without the ball and he’s simply not talented enough to take the ball out of Shai or JDubs hands. His defense has improved marginally but he easily gets blown by, he doesn’t fight through screens at all, and he can’t switch. He also has extremely poor post defense while being much taller than the majority of his opponents. He has decent skills but he has no place on this team. He simply doesn’t fit. If he can go somewhere and be the lead PG sure but he isn’t that here.
"expectations to win a championship this year" i don't think anyone "expected" them to win this year, i think there were a lot of hopefuls within my team's supporters but i think people "expecting" them to win is a huuuuuuge stretch.
Not a single soul should’ve genuinely expected them to be as good as they were. They literally had +100 betting odds to just make the playoffs. Their win total projection was 40.5. People forget that we overachieved in every aspect of the game. Shai led us to the youngest 1 seed ever. Add a nice rotational rebounding big man this off season and a good wing and we should be favorites to win next year
Lmk if you want a draft class with players that looks significantly more realistic then this one, saw sears and he looks NOTHING like how he really does
That’d be a real expensive backup. I don’t think they want to play them both at the same time, they want the floor as spaced as possible. SGA doesn’t take many 3s, I expect him to get up to like 4 a game next year, hopefully around 36-37%+, but he lives mostly in the paint and at the line. 47.6% of his FGA were from 0-10ft this year, then 55.9%, 54%, 55.8%, and 54.9% his prior years in OKC. Last two years 26% and 24.6% 10-16ft, so 73.6% and 80.5% of his FGA were inside 16 feet the last two years. Pretty much shots at the rim, FTs, floaters, and short middies. So he needs max spacing. Dort had his first good 3P shooting season of his career, basically 100% assisted, and 28% of his 3PA were from the corner where he’s a career 40%+ shooter. If Cason Wallace can continue to get better, raise his 3P volume and keep hitting them at a good clip he’ll be really valuable. They NEED Dort to continue to be a 38%+ 3P shooter, they need Chet to keep shooting well, Isaiah Joe, and then we’ll see about Aaron Wiggins and if he can continue progressing. The next step for JDub IMO is for him to get his 3P volume up, hopefully he can be 39%+ on like 6-7att PER 36, then they likely need to replace Giddey with a big wing/F that can knock down C&S 3s at high volume. They have a lot of guys that can shoot, but not necessarily anyone who’s a really high volume shooter. If this year was an outlier for Dort they may need to move on from him too, with how great he is on defense they still can’t afford him being a 33-34% 3P shooter. They really need a big 3&D PF that can help at the rim and also stretch the floor, which is extremely hard to find. I’m not sure if it’ll be through the draft or through trade, but they should continue to lean in to the 5 out spacing. Sorry for how long the post is lol. If J-Will isn’t going to be in their future, then maybe they could find a 4/5 combo that can play like 15-18MPG off the bench behind Chet, and a few mins at the 4 depending on the matchup. Then if Chet doesn’t play, they can start that guy and play him like 25-30 min with the big PF next to him, and then have a cheap C via the draft or something play the rest. So Chet, a big 6’8+ 3&D PF, a cheap backup C via the draft or whatever, then maybe a guy like Beef Stew could make sense in OKC. He’s being misused in DET as a 4, he should be a stretch 5 off the bench that plays like 15-18MPG at the 5, with the possibility of playing some 4 next to a guy like Chet against certain matchups. His contract is good too, he literally just turned 23, he’s on the shorter side at like 6’8 without shoes I think, but he has a ridiculous wingspan and he’s absolutely massive. Also a good rebounder. He is signed for 4y/60M, but it’s flat loaded and the 4th year is a team option. So it’s 15/15/15, then 15M TO in 27-28. That’s basically the mid level exception and there’s a team option. I don’t think he’d take much to trade for either, especially if DET drafts a F in the draft like I expect them to. They’ll have Duren as their starting C, whatever F they draft, then they have a bunch of other 2/3s like Fontecchio, Ausar, and Grimes, and a boat load of cap space. I could see them going after a real good backup C in FA and trading Isaiah Stewart for a future 1st. I think they realize they need spacing badly and can’t play Stew at the 4 anymore especially if they’re going to have Ausar progress. Just too many not great shooters on the floor. Stew next to Chet you can have him as your worst shooter, and he shot well from 3 for a big this season. Just an idea. A really long idea.
At 4:40 you say that pick could be valuable if the clippers are bad.. but that's a trade best.. I've been confused about the pick swaps.. isn't swap best bad for you? You want swap worst, right? Like swap best means if the clippers pick is higher than the rockets, you have to swap it. Right or am I backwards?
@@chancejanssen190 Are you sure? If you have swap worse, than you are giving up the worst pick. If you swap best, then you are giving them the best pick.. I dunno, it doesn't seem like anyone knows for sure. Reddit post seem to think the swap worse is what you want.
I think you should have injuries on or you can just play 8 guys and development of younger players or spreading the cap through more of the team just doesn’t matter.
I do think Chet would do better at the 4 he could have a role where he shoots more 3s and works the mid play defense but not have to be in the paint all the time , a good rim running or post lockdown center would they need someone to get boards
I would have done this: First sign claxton to secure him, then trade giddey and jacobi walter to utah for lauri markannen. Move Jdub to the 2, lauri plays the 3, chet the 4 and claxton 5, you completely solve the size problem, improve defense and give even more spacing if you compare lauri to giddey
Presti will never sign center like Nick Clackson on overpay salary specially not for 3 years (maybe 2). Because they are going to be so good in the future even without doing anything, I think he will go for a vetran star in a short deal (1-2 years). Maybe even Labron James (they can draft Bronny easily)
They’re trying to compete for a long time not just win 1 ring. Bronny isn’t worth drafting at all for this team and Lebron doesn’t fix anything because he requires the ball in his hands. He’s not better than SGA at this point so it would only ruin chemistry. Claxton is perfect for what Presti would look for
@@chancejanssen190 This team has assets to rule the league for at least 10 years. They need a good vet for next year playoff, who will support them with his experience (it will make them better in the future). I'm not sure Labron can step a side and be that guy, so probably they will sign other good vet. I don't think they care much about one draft pick. They had enough talent in the team and a lot of other picks in the immediate future. Player that can't score much, not worth 30 milions. This center isn't talented enough. The last thing SGA need is an opening center who can't shoot at all, and stuck in the paint.
He does the most realistic trades compared to pretty much anyone. Obviously not all of them will be, it’s a broken game, and at the end of the day this is for entertainment. He obv tries to be a bit more realistic, he doesn’t trade a random player for a superstar or something, and I’ve seen him get fleeced in trades so it is what it is.
