Love love both the green dresses! And buttons...reminds me of looking through my grandmother's tin and when my mom passed hers on to me; my collection hasn't grown as I wish--I need to see about that! Thanks for an enjoyable and calming episode! Your happiness with your new dress shines through the screen.

Oh katie what a joy to meet someone who enjoys buttons, just like you I have draws and draws of buttons many years ago when charity shops were brilliant to browse in you could pick oodles of vintage buttons in every choice of jars, tins,and different containers and I would spend ages picking out the best specimens to take home and add to my collection. Not so good now though as they just packet them up in plastic bags. I spent ages going through my buttons and finding draws for different colours, if i am fed up i can go and get a draw out and spend ages running my fingers through the buttons and wonder what garment it came off and who wore it. Love the dress you have made it really suits you the other green dress with the wide neck you could take off the gathers of the sleeve and that would fit better under a cardigan and wearing a shawl helps the neckline. Thank you for taking the time and trouble from your busy life to share with us hope the move is progressing for you

Thank you so much Janice. I think one day (after the move!) I will just chop the sleeves off the other green dress altogether. Lovely to hear about you enjoying buttons too :)

I too played with my mothers and paternal grandmothers button collections and inherited from them both. But, recently I won at auction, a huge glass container of buttons and what transformed my life was the way they were stored; in this “win”, the matching buttons were kept on a piece of thread or floss, then I could easily look for matching buttons because they were tied together. Brilliant!

OH! I DO love buttons!!!! ❤ Couple of years ago I spent two weeks sorting, color and size coordinating them and finding matching groups which I secured together with thread. My mum had lots of buttons in a wooden box. Spent hours with them when I was a child. It makes you feel rich to see and feel this abundance of beautiful objects. 🌟

Lovely, swinging dress, Katie, and as always, beautifully made. I do admire your attention to detail👍😊 I have my mum's button boxes. Never find the right button but it's fun to have a rummage and come across old favourites. Jill. Cumbria. UK

You are inspiring me to start sewing again. I sewed nearly all of my clothing, and my children's clothing, for decades and stopped about 10 years ago. I think I will dust off the machine and give it a go. I need some warm slacks for the cold weather ahead. I always look forward to your podcasts. Give Jack a pet for me. He is such a good dog.

Hi Katie, I hope you're well xx ❣️ Thankyou so much for sharing this video podcast. Your Dress 👗 is lovely. I like the Gingham in the colours you used, it makes it suitable for all ages. I'd have pockets in everything if I could. I love mixing and matching stuff, to make something with my own take on it. Thanks for sharing yours and Jacks walk. Take care and stay safe Love and hugs to you and Jack..Jen xx ❤️❤️🫂🫂🐕

Hello Katie Even though you've finished the Green dress, you can still make modifications to it. The neckline is easy to fix, you take the facing off, recut the neckline a little lower and resew facing. The facing doesn't to be the same fabric. With the pockets..turn the dress inside out, cut the pocket off at about 2 inches from the side seam, make a larger pocket and sew it to the fabric left from the cutting.

A second idea: just add a kind of second, inner collar band and sew it by hand from inside. Will look like a double facing which could be an interesting feature. The dress is wide enough to wear a warm long arm T-Shirt or even a blouse under it during cooler days.
@KatieGreenBean

Thanks, I will definitely be modifying the original dress at some point so I can get more wear out of it.

I always enjoy discovering the multi-talented people making vlogs! I’ve never been much of a risk taker when sewing. I’m venturing more into it because I need to know how to alter patterns prior to cutting out a garment. One of my fav methods to finishing sleeveless garments is bias cut tape from the fabric; I’ve also used to finish necklines (no collar). Pockets being added to a dress; I discovered this is not so easily accomplished and I don’t like my small side pockets! 😮 Thank you for sharing your journey🥰 Cheryl

Hi Katie! I love your Podcast and I am looking forward to each new episode. This one was once again very interesting but a bit difficult for me to watch, as I am one of the people with koumpounophobia. To see so many buttons was very uncomfortable for me but I bravely watched the whole episode because I wanted to see your finished dress. A jar full of buttons is a horrible thing for me, I am a zipper girl. 😉 I am looking forward to your next episode and I hope for lots of knitting and zero buttons. 😂 😂
@KatieGreenBean

Oh my gosh Claudia thank you for sharing thin and I am SO sorry. I know about this phobia, and I should have put a warning. I will most definitely do that if I ever show my button collection again . How horrid for you! Thank you for bravely forging ahead and I'm glad there was some joy in the episode too. Once again I'm so sorry for not warning you!
