The Bothy Band perform ‘The Green Groves of Erin’ live at the Embankment Cabaret Rooms in Tallaght, Dublin.
Having gained a reputation as one of the most influential traditional Irish bands, ‘The Bothy Band’ recorded a two-part programme for RTÉ Television in the Embankment Cabaret Rooms, Tallaght, Dublin.
The band comprises: Matt Molloy, Dónal Lunny, Paddy Keenan, Kevin Burke, Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill and Mícheál Ó Domhnaill.
Just two years after their formation ‘The Bothy Band’ have already garnered strong support in Ireland and abroad.
Formed in 1975 by Donal Lunny ‘The Bothy Band’ recorded three studio albums and released one live album. They disbanded in 1979. A ‘Best of’ album was released in 1983 with a further live album in 1995.
This episode of ‘At The Embankment’ was broadcast on 17 December 1976.
‘At The Embankment’ was a 12-week music series featuring well-known performers on the traditional Irish music scene, recorded at The Embankment pub in Tallaght, County Dublin. It ran from 1 October to 17 December 1976.

WE all the same when it comes to most brilliant happy dancing music, as they say in my home town then the music starts playing, clear the floor, make from for those dancing legs/feet, I feel like i am 17 years old again

Stop playing this most brilliant music right now, my battered old legs of 103 years want to get up and start dancing all over the kitchen floor, My mind is young but my body is battered and old, I am afraid that my legs will want to dance all night long, tey have a mind of their own when stunning beautiful music comes on t he radio, I know that I am not as fit as a fiddle any more so stop playing this music now PLEASE

It does the same to me ! And I don't even have to have a drink I'm 61 only and my knees are not much cop but like you my legs won't keep still and I have to jig all over the kitchen makes you feel so happy listening to it x
