Design by TJAD Original Design Studio, The "Green Hill" stands as a testament to innovative urban redevelopment, illustrating how spaces steeped in industrial history can be reimagined into vibrant public areas. Once the mechanical repair warehouse of a tobacco company, this site has undergone a remarkable metamorphosis. Today, it is a dynamic park that seamlessly blends recreational facilities, public open spaces, and commercial areas, offering a unique urban oasis for the community.
Situated in a north-south rectangular plot, the "Green Hill" stretches approximately 100 meters in length and 37.5 meters in width. The northern end of the park connects to the bustling Yangshupu Road, serving as a welcoming gateway into this transformed space. This entrance is characterized by thoughtful landscaping and modern design elements, setting the tone for the rest of the park. It represents a harmonious blend of urban aesthetics and green spaces, inviting visitors to leave behind the city's hustle and bustle and enter a realm of relaxation and recreation.
As one ventures deeper into the park, they encounter its central features, which are both visually and functionally significant. One of the standout attractions is the children's playground. This area has been designed with safety and engagement in mind, providing a space where kids can play, explore, and interact in a secure environment. Adjacent to the playground is an S-shaped walking path, which meanders gracefully through the park. This pathway is more than just a means of getting from one point to another; it offers a leisurely route for strolls, encouraging visitors to take their time and enjoy the varied perspectives and vistas the park offers.
The southern end of the park is equally impressive, featuring a redeveloped public open space and a section dedicated to leisure and commercial activities. This area exemplifies the park's multifunctional design. The open space is versatile, accommodating community events, outdoor performances, and social gatherings. It is a place where the community can come together, fostering a sense of belonging and shared experience. Adjacent to this open area is the leisure commercial zone, which hosts small cafes and shops. These establishments add vibrancy to the park, providing visitors with convenient spots to relax, enjoy refreshments, and engage in light shopping.
The transformation of the "Green Hill" from an industrial warehouse into a multifaceted public park is a brilliant example of adaptive reuse. It preserves a piece of the area's industrial history while injecting new life and purpose into the space. This project is not just about creating a park; it is about enhancing the quality of urban life, offering a sanctuary where nature, art, and public life converge harmoniously.
