This video is part of a series of short videos featuring repairs and upgrades to my 1978 Fiat X1/9. In this video, I explain how I came to own it and what my plans are for it. I will be including videos of upgrading the original 1300cc 4 Speed to a 1500cc 5 Speed in future videos.

Nice Series 1. you got yourself there, Mark. One of the best OE colours as well imo. I'm in UK and I have 3 late eighties 1500's, all are red 886 which I don't like but the one I'm working on and driving atm had been given a flickover with Rosso Corsa so it looks, well quite Ferrari. I fitted a small steering wheel to gear up the rack, front ARB, 185/55 Avon ZZS, billet Ultralite wheels, lowered the car nearly three inches on gas coilovers, and fitted a digital stepper tach and speedo. Result, the car is handling superbly with zero body roll and enough grip to handle the 150bhp 1500 I've got which is running ITB's and an Omex programmable ECU. I'm going to be beginning the installation in Feb '21. I've also fitted the close ratio gearset from a Punto GT, going in with the new engine. Best of luck with your build, keep posting please despite the limited views eh - let's keep it more or less a secret as to how good these little cars are 👍✋😀

Great to hear about your projects thanks for your comments. I will keep posting videos. I post about new videos links only on the Australian X1/9 Facebook group or if you subscribe to this channel. So I'm not expecting lots of views, only quality viewers like yourself.

@@x19australia thanks Mark. I'm subbed to this channel but I don't do fb. I have a blog about my project, don't usually make vids just text and stills. RMS motoring forum / members cars / the Ultimate X. I haven't posted for a while, I'm busy earning the cash for the next phase atm. Cheers from the UK mate

Awesome series Mark. I've subscribed and added you to my favorite series list alongside Roland Finger (Fingerprints Workshop) & George Kerellas (Soup Classic Motoring) channels.

I saw this color X outside a convenience store in about 77. I was 12. Eight yrs later I bought my first of six X19s over the years

Great series of videos. Do you have a written list of what’s covered in each part? That would be great for quick reference when doing repairs/mods. Part 17 made door handle repair a breeze :)

Happy to hear it helped. Good idea about the listing as no I don't have one. Each video description has got a brief of what is in the video that may help.

Hi again. In any of these 44 parts, do you use a vacuum gauge to check manifold pressure? Or something similar... thanks
@x19australia
@x19australia Год назад
I don’t have any vacuum gauge, however when I take it to SR Performance for tuning they do it. I will be going back there for part 45 for the final tune.

@@x19australia - excellent. If and when one gets connected, will you explain WHERE it gets attached to? That would be good for sure :).

Nice car ! please, can you tell me the number paint please ? Is it the 390 green metal ? thanks
@x19australia
@x19australia 2 года назад
Thanks, the car has been repainted however it's to match the colour 390. I don't know what the colour is now as I bought the car already painted. It's very close to the original but maybe a touch more metallic.

Nice project you got there. Good luck with it. Do you happen to know where to buy that after market front spoiler?

Thanks, a guy locally makes them in Melbourne Australia. Just ask on the Facebook Australian X1/9 group for one and i'm sure you will get a few options.

Did you ever remove and/or replace the oil pressure sending unit?
@x19australia
@x19australia 10 месяцев назад
Yes, it would have been replaced, but it may not have been included in a video as it would have been part of the engine build. Replacing them is simple, as they just unscrew and change.

@@x19australia - yours didn’t leak at all? Generic parts replacement?
@x19australia
@x19australia 10 месяцев назад
@@cpkdude No leaks, fortunately, and I'm also using an original part, not a reproduction. I was lucky to have one in stock. If it does leak, just use some thread tape, or perhaps the one you have is not the correct thread type. There are some real bad reproduction ones out there.

Brilliant, thanks. I suspect mine's likely the original, so that probably has something to do with it...@@x19australia
