The call of the Grey Butcherbird may not be as melodic as the call of the Pied Butcherbird, but it makes up for it with the variations the Grey Butcherbird comes up with. The birds on Ellenbrae are wild and quite shy. They are not used to seeing humans and have the freedom of a large uninhabited territory. Uninhabited by humans that is! So when they see some keen wildlife photographers (like us😁), they just go somewhere else. This little guy was an exception. He just let me film him. And even came up quite close to have a look at what he probably thought was some strange kangaroo. This happened every morning for about a week, and of course all our chores went down the drain. After about a week he just went somewhere else and we don't hear him any more. But we got some killer videos of this little guy and we are very grateful for the experience.
