The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

People forget or ignore the fact that vaccines have been saving lives for more than a hundred years.

I don't think that they have forgotten. I don't think they have ignored. They are just IGNORANT of it. Many think that the antibiotics have been around forever. We are now a spoiled civilization, IGNORANT OF OUR PAST.

I lost a son, stillborn, I was devastated, can't image losing 3 children in 3 days. And then to go on and lose another 3 later. But I do know about losing a family, everybody. I lost 2 sisters, dad and mom within 7 yrs. Never expected to be the only one left, especially since both sisters were younger than me. But mom and dad could have related to this. They lost 3 daughters out of 4, granted only my older sister was a child.

Such a sad story. I am very familiar with Globe. I have family who live there. My uncle lives one street over from High St. His home was one of the first homes built in Globe in the 1800's. It has very high ceilings and the kitchen cabinets are huge and hard to reach without a stool. The old Globe jail is supposed to be haunted too. Thank you for this story, Ron. RIP to those family members.

The cemetery’s down in the south west are dirt or sand. Up here in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and other states are grass. That would take some getting used to living down that way.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a plot where the grave markers are on an incline of concrete…. A tragic story for sure, and dying of a broken heart is very real. Both my mom and grandma passed away within weeks of each other, my grandpa was beside himself with grief. His health declined quickly and he passed not long after. I couldn’t imagine what this poor family went thru!

You would be amazed at what we can endure. I have had great loss. I’m still going on strong. The pain never goes away of the loss. You just get through it. Just think of what the pioneers endured coming across the prairie. They lost family in accidents and babies died during birth and sometimes the mother. And yes, a lot of the women went insane just due to loneliness. The next farm was a long way off to have another woman to talk with. Times were and still are hard. But it is so surprising what we can endure. Take care.

I feel that is true when it comes to broken hearts and long time spouses. My parents were married in 1973, and my dad passed on October 25th 2022 from Acute myeloid leukemia, 6 months later, on may 21st 2023, my mom passed from complications of bile duct and pancreas cancer. She immediately started throwing up after my dad died and after that she couldn't keep anything down and she didn't want to know what she had and would fight with the doctors about getting x-rays and cat scans, saying she didn't want to know. They even put on her file "failure to thrive", on her record at one point because they honestly couldn't figure it out without having those options to be able to see what was really going on. Finally, the last 2 months she was alive they figured it out by her allowing them to do a catscan and such. For a Lil pretext, my mom had a stroke in July of 2022, a few months prior from my dad passing and the doctors kept thinking it had something to do with that and her diabetes. My dad was 71 and my mom was 70.

I have three young grandchildren, and I am so happy there are vaccines for illnesses like diphtheria. I can't even imagine losing all three of them in a week's time. We have the same graves out here in Australia too Ron. One had five in the same family in a week. Another cemetery had a dr. Not only just the loss, but being at their bedside watching this terrible illness, the swollen and inflamed throat from diphtheria was horribly painful for the child and there was nothing for it such as aspirin or Tylenol. Thanks Ron. I've been to Globe a couple of times--most recently, this past June when I was on a route I was taking on a road trip. When you showed us the spot where you think the Heron family's house likely stood, I thought of an experience I had not too many years ago when I was hoping to see a house my great grandparents had lived in. I was with a friend who had put the address into her GPS in her car. As we came closer to the address, the GPS announced that we had arrived at the address on the right. It turned out to be an empty lot next to an old abandoned factory building. I think that once a building has been somewhere in a city, the address remains on the books so to speak--even if the house is torn down. Anyway, I'm happy that you are now in Arizona, as I really love it there and I am going to enjoy your tours of cemeteries around the state. The old cemeteries in the west are very interesting!

Hi Ron, Please come back east to the Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware area. I lived in Williamsburg, VA. near the colonial area for almost 20 years, The grave of Ms. Evelyn Byrd (young lady from the 18th century) at Westover Plantation on the James River along route 5 to Richmond is hauntingly interesting and keeps drawing me back to her grave site. A really long time ago when my youngest son was a baby, I took him to have his first set of vaccinations. Another new Mom was there with her little one, a girl, so she was much more delicate and felt things much more deeply that my macho newborn boy. An idiot, in other words. Anyways, the two babies received their shots, and both screamed equally loudly and indignantly, and Girlmama weepingly said to the nurse "How can you stand to inflict such pain on these tiny children?" The nurse, an older lady who had seen it all answered, " I've nursed babies who died from diptheria. I have no poroblem at all." The best answer I have ever heard in my life.

What heartache the parents must have felt. There is a small rural cemetery near my home in upstate NY where four siblings aged 9,11,13, and 15 are buried. They died within 10 days of each other in February 1863. I’ve always wondered if they suffered fatal injuries in a house fire -- more likely it was influenza or a childhood illness. Someday I hope to find out the story behind this family’s tragedy.

Thanks for sharing this tragic heartbreaking story Ron 🧡 I hope the Heron family are all Resting In Peace after having lived through those painful times 🙏🙏🙏 Indeed we are so lucky to have all of the vaccines we do today. Everyone needs to be vaccinated so that the scourge of polio, etc will never return 🙏‼️🍁🧡🍂🎃

So very very sad. Poor wee babes. I lost a daughter 2 years ago to cancer. She was 33. I know what the loss of one child feels like... I couldn't bear more. Rest in everlasting peace to this family. Thank heaven we have the assurance of life ever after.

Very good narration at the start of the video telling us the history of this place and showing us the street view.👍
