The Grim Story of Victoria Mendoza -
Victoria Mendoza was the female equivalent of a ‘bad boy’. Tattooed. Rebellious. Wild and willing to break the rules. But while her tough-girl persona held a certain appeal to peers, it masked a much, much darker reality. When 17-year-old Tawnee Baird fell for her in 2004, the warning signs were there from the start. But like so many abusive relationships, by the time Tawnee wanted out - it was too late.
This case examines the shocking chain of events that led to the brutal murder of 21-year-old Tawnee Baird and the twisted mind of the girl who, after committing the crime, turned to TikTok to build her social media following.

@DiaryOfALesbianGamer
@DiaryOfALesbianGamer 2 года назад
I don’t blame her friends and family because sometimes when you stand in the way of a couple that you see is going real bad, you can cause a rift between your connection with that person. I get were you are coming from but a lot of folk hope that it could be something that can be over looked for the sake of not getting involved in someone else’s business. I’ve heard cops not jump into some situations of straight couples fighting because they get told their services aren’t needed even though the chick is physically beaten and was the possible caller. Then they won’t press charges on the abuser. Remember the victim was 18 years old. She was no longer a child (in the eyes of the law). Another thing I’ve heard about people in domestic cases is that the partner is in fear of leaving the abuser because they are afraid of the threats. I’ve heard more threats in these kinds of stories go through with it. To be honest it’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. To her maybe she saw it as keep your friends close but your enemies closer. I don’t know I’m just saying don’t go to rough on the family and friends, it’s a lot harder when you are in the situation. I’ve been the friend that gets cut off. I’ve been one of the family members that heard one of their loved one call off the cops on their abuser. It takes it out more on your mental health sometimes then a physical one. You’d be surprised how fragile the mind and body are when put under extreme situations. For this girl to possibly never had seen these types of issues might have been harder for her to understand.

@Diary of a Lesbian Gamer I don't blame her friends so much, but her parents dropped the ball. As a victim, it's really hard to put them in jail. It can be more empathy than fear most of the time. They punch you in the face and you still don't want to ruin their life. Makes no sense, but that's how it is. The mom should've been the strong one in that situation! Parents are the protector and should only be worried about their child's safety. You do everything you can so if God forbid something like this happens, you don't spend the rest of your life wondering if she would still be alive if you put the abuser in jail. And you do it because it's the only way to keep your child safe, knowing it will continue to escalate. The type of people that can say they love you and then beat you, do NOT change. Please intervene any chance you get and don't worry about who will be mad at you!
@whitedragoness23
@whitedragoness23 2 года назад
@@awright119021 you are 100% correct, they saw the abuse their daughter was endearing and it might have contributed to their daughter’s fear because no one was willing to kick the girlfriend out. Even her home wasn’t a safe spot. The problem is the parents empathize too much with the girlfriend. Yes it’s great to help her get a job and not want her to be homeless. But at the end of the day she’s still the abuser and the victim was their daughter and should of been first priority. They might have thought she would change but she was too troubled and even at the end she was more concerned about herself going to jail than the fact she killed a girl she supposedly loved

As a close friend of a lesbian friend who was in an abusive relationship for years, I can tell you some of the most insecure and jealous people on this planet are "butch" lesbians around Victoria's age (late teens to mid 20s). Psychologically, many of them have yet to truly be comfortable in their identity and they are constantly thinking their more feminine mate will find a man who is able to steal her away, or otherwise gain access to her body. Some of them have a hard time accepting that their partner loves them, because at that stage in their life so many of them hate themselves (for either not being beautiful enough and/or not being "manly" enough to be worthy of a loving attractive partner).

I have a good take on this. Whilst I don't disagree with your statement, if the father/mother were to follow through with that, one of two things could happen. If the father/mother acted on their urge and told Tawnee she was never to see Victoria again; either a) Tawnee wouldn't listen to them and/or b) Tawnee would resent them, run away and never want to see them again or for many years. Now that's thinking worse case scenario, which what I assume the parents were thinking. While the outcome was tragic, as a parent, you can only do what you can to raise them. As soon as they become of age, as much as you want to protect them, they are ultimately responsible for making their own decisions. And I know you're probably thinking "I would rather her be here and hate me than to be gone". That's definitely a thought that they'll probably think about every day for the rest of their life.

@Diary of a Lesbian Gamer you are wrong! Most states will press charges if there is evidence of the abuse. If mom would've called the cops when her daughter was bloody and missing a tooth, the cops would've pressed charges on their own. Laws are slowly changing for domestic violence and that is a really important one. It's incredibly difficult for most victims to press charges so it's necessary for the police to be able to make that choice for them.

Premeditation does not mean planning or even a history of threats. It's a legal term that refers to the moments leading up to the actual murder itself. So let's say someone slights another in some way. They become angry... and walk over to the gun on the table and walk back to the one who insulted them. Then they kill them. That is premeditated murder even if they never had shown any indication prior to this that they would kill them, or that they had planned anything at all. The premeditation is simply the time it took to go to the table, handle the gun, come back and kill the victim. In other words there was a previous (prior to murder) meditation (thought) to commit the actual offense itself. It differs from manslaughter very slightly. There are different levels of murder and manslaughter and courts can argue whether it was manslaughter or murder, but a defense attorney would have to offer a reasonable story to my scenario above to convince others that it wasn't premeditated because of xyz. Now if there is actual planning for that specific murder beforehand then yes it's obviously premeditation. But that is rarely the case in most first degree murder cases. So if we have someone claiming they'll kill another a number of times... and one time they actually do, it doesn't necessarily mean premediation. It could still be a lower level of murder or even manslaughter. As the previous threats are not related to the actual murder. Now during the actual murder if the person says "I'm going to kill you" and does that helps show it was premeditated. All the stuff in the past shows is the perp was a violent or abusive person.

Guarantee the second they got into the car Victoria started screaming at her, probably laid some pretty hard blows and fucked her up to the point where she pretty much she was next to finished. Definitely a terrible situation to be in, even more so for someone so young who was raised in a sheltered environment, in a middle class suburb. Violence and manipulation was probably a huge shock to her and she didn't know how to ask for help.. Maybe even out of embarrassment 😔 That's also usually a huge factor when guys are killed by their ex-girlfriends... Too embarrassed to speak out with the fear no one will take them seriously. After finishing the video I understand Victoria more. She was extremely troubled and troubled people have all the propensity to kill. I know from personal experience, though I’ve never hurt anyone, I wanted to at a part of my life and who knows if I could’ve. Her words at the end and how she keeps turning the pain onto herself/ victimize herself, is because she is indeed also a victim. She is not a victim of murder, she is a victim of a shitty upbringing that caused her such a heavy extent of issues that she really thought her world was gonna fall apart without Tawnee. My assumption is that from the tone of her voice to her friend when she dropped her off from the party, is that she was planning on breaking up with Victoria for the last time, and that last form of abandonment sent her over the edge. I had to get over my abandonment issues. For the longest time of my teen/ early adult life I always beloved I was meant to hurt myself or others. I felt so betrayed by the world and everyone in it. Why am I going through this shit and can’t deal with it like other can? I hate my father for making me this way. Those thoughts were DETRIMENTAL to me, and I didn’t even realize it until I HEALED. Both girls never stood a chance. Such an unnecessary and fucked up tragedy.
