Fantastic stuff, lots of Tool fans recognize it immediately. As for angry Maynard songs,there are quite a few: ticks and leeches, cold and ugly, hooker with a penis, eulogy, bottom, undertow,... One of the rare sincere reactors. You can see her truly soaking every musical finesse of this great band. I would recommend to listen to as many 'old' songs before moving to the last album, cause Fear Inoculum kinda sums up their whole discography, especially song 7empest.

So rumour has it that the angry scream at the end was supposed to be 29.5 seconds to represent the 29.5 years Saturn takes to make a full trip around the sun but he could only make it 25 seconds because he nearly passed out during the take you hear. The band didn’t want to risk him trying it again.

For angry Maynard see “Bottom” with special guest Henry Rollins or “Flood.” HWAP is also very angry Maynard… Bottom … spoiler alert … also contains one of my personal favorite drops. Copyright strikes be damned, keep doing TOOL, you’re reactions are pure gold and I look forward to your epic sense of humor just as much as your take on the song.

I have, for many years. I honestly think I wouldn't be here now without it. Their music hits the soul in the most unique way. Pulls you straight out of the darkness and places you gently down on the plane of renewal.

The fact that you can't wipe that killer smile off your face is the best....THIS Fucking band has been this badass for 30 years! This song itself is 20 years old and I still crank it up as loud as it can go every time it comes on! Maynard is legit badass but this song belongs to Mr Carey!!! The best drummer on the planet!

It's kind of funny because I love ALL of their albums, but Undertow and Fear Inoculum are my most favorite with Lateralus following as my third. I think it's funny because of how early Undertow is and how late Fear Incoulum is. Especially since I wasn't a fan of Fear Inoculum at first, but I honestly think my expectations were different. Silly me, I was wrong.

Love watching your mind being blown with every Tool song you hear! I was also late to the Tool party but I have now consumed a fair proportion of their discography! It is my humble opinion that Tool is up there with Pink Floyd as the two pillars of musical genius looking down over all other bands below! Id like to suggest the song Anema for an earful of cynical Maynard!! See what you think of it...... keep up the good work. :)

I'm curious to see if you'll be as enthusiastic about the older, "angrier" Tool. HWAP and Ticks and Leaches are probably the angriest newer Tool songs. Undertow is almost completely angry, your word not mine, but then they were a little less polished back then and in your face was certainly their style. Aggressive I think is a better description, but I can totally see where you're coming from. Once the royalties and accolades start pouring in it must be tough to retain that ruthless tone, but they did, at least up to Aenema. Ticks and Leaches being the exception on 10000 Days, the newer material is much more introspective. Please don't give up on Tool and Maynard. There's literally a ton of great material here to react to. Thanks for posting!

Awesome video! The grudge is tied as my fav with a few others... you can’t have only one favorite tool song. I’ve tried to pin point it but once you listen to all the songs again it changes lol. You seem to like the songs that really go on a journey and have lots of changes. Might be a little early to suggest this but it’s another of my favorites from tool. Lost keys /Rosetta stoned. When Maynard 'holds a note', there's some delay tails which show evidence of at least some echo with an extended feedback. It's quite easy to emulate if you can hold a steady note for a few seconds to allow the repeat to sound seamless and without waver.

20 years of listening to this song and I still go into a mental body explosion every time - literally a life mantra 'give away the stone'....... great to see you enjoying that BASSSSSS!! thank you for taking the time to do this, it all worked well, good choice of lyric video. And you are very cheeky using a title like that, I didn't watch it for a few days... but I should have guessed you were being a smarty :) :) by the end I had the thought, I don't think of that as anger, I think of it as passion. You can't give away a stone in anger, that could hurt some one, or smash some glass..... you gotta just put that stone down and leave it behind :) I look forward to your next track. I'd like you to check out some earlier Tool. Not that later Tool isn't amazing, but based on what you've said your favorite bands are, I think you'd really like their first album. Check out "Crawl Away" and "Bottom" to start off with. (yes, early Tool is "angry Maynard" Tool)

My favourite song of all time. I bought this album on the day of it's release when I was in Canada on holiday in 2001. Not a single note had been leaked from the album Lateralus and I put the CD in my player and hit play. The Grudge opens the album and I was dumbstruck. I hit repeat 5 times before continuing with the album. Lateralus is also my favourite album of all time

The average view duration for this particular video is 9 minutes and 33 seconds. That's why I apologize every time I pause. The majority of people skip over all of the talking bits. I don't get it. But that's the facts. :)

People here are giving excellent advice and I will not try to argue with the experts why the next one should be XXX based on some sophisticated arguments. I will only say that if I m in the mood for The Grudge, it has to be followed by Vicarious. No questions asked. And since you have been mentioning the early angry Tool: it's more comparable to Aenema. It's my all time favorite Tool song but since you weren't that enthousiast about it in the video, I'm not sure how much early Tool is going to be your cup of tea. So I cross fingers for Vicarious as next song and thank you for these great video series.

I literally can't compare another band with TOOL! I am 48 years old and saw them first at Lollapalooza in 1993 at the Weber county fairgrounds in Utah. To this day I have listened to their albums thousands of times, seen them in concert 20 times and will never get sick of their music!!!

So much brilliance and wisdom in this song. Just in the line "Saturn ascends... Choose one or ten... Hang on or be humbled again..." Saturn's planetary cycle is said to take around 28 years which represents maturity of a human. Choose one or ten is a reference to Kabbalah in which one is the lowest level of enlightenment and 10 is the highest. In other words to reach the highest level of enlightenment and grow as a human you need to let go of grudges or remain ignorant.

You're starting to get why it's so hard for a Tool fan to name their favorite song. It can change so easily... The Grudge of more of any "every day listen" kind of song for me so I would say that I like it a little more than Lateralus, which is more of a "lie down and close your eyes"/meditative type of song. It doesn't really matter though. At the end of the day, they're both awesome, Tool is awesome, and so was this video. Looking forward to the next one.
