I'm loving all the Grumbleweeds I'm watching back of late. I remember them as being very funny and it's great to see that there were absolutely as good as I thought. And the number of impressions Robin does is amazing. Quality.
When I was a kid in the early 80’s ide wait till 10 pm to listen to them on my radio with headphones on.After it was the news bud lines and loads of other shows. It was a brilliant era for this sort of stuff. Thank you for letting me grow up to the greatest humour I’ve ever listened to. 👍
I didn't really like the Television series after a while, but I loved the radio shows. I always remember as a kid looking at copies of the "RADIO TIMES" and seeing illustrations of the characters and wondering what it was like. I then listened to them and loved the series, but the television show not as much.
Its a lot less dated than other comedy shows of this era. I found myself actually being amused by some of the sketches. If this sounds negative ...its not meant to be, given the crap on youtube from the 80s this is a breath of fresh air.
A pre-The Day Today Doon Mackichan in the Wake Up London caption right at the start of the clip - by the looks of it, she was earning her living in Sunday morning regional children's TV at that time. Comedy worlds truly colliding there.
That was fun, thanks, not seen Grumbleweeds episode for many a year. I can't remember them being quite so topical (for the day) but I was just a kid back then.
The sheer brilliance of the characters The Mystics with Gilbert the pissed up magician is a joy to behold. I used to look forward to them and the two gay men, Viv and Trix I think that's there name in every TV show. Oh how I wish there was more of the programme on You Tube.
Does the episode of The Grumbleweeds still exist on youtube where Clint Eastwood ( the real one ) appearing, in "blackface" is a guest star ? I can't seem to find it any more :(
I watched for about three minutes then turned over to watch Russ Abbott instead. I'm glad I did; it saved me from seeing that skit about Saville fixing it for himself to f**k girls.

I’m confused, Andrew. What do you mean ‘turned over to watch Russ Abbot instead’ RU-vid isn’t 1980s tv. And if you didn’t watch more than three minutes how were you ‘saved’ from watching an admittedly suspect Jimmy Savile skit that you’ve just now described? Do you have the original shooting script or something?
