@@TheGuitologistthrough my walk with the Lord is , He keeps telling me that I can NOT earn His love or acceptance, HE LOVES ME BECAUSE OF HIS NATURE. He tells me to just come and hang out with Him...hard to imagine, then He gave me the perspective on how I was with my step son ( wanted to love him, gave up things to be with him and always looking for ways to bless him) when he was with me ( the biggest difference is that Papa God has more grace than I did at times). The cross paid the PRICE for my junk and I'm still learning that because this how God sees me. Just to throw a wrench in this, GOD IS ALSO A GOD OF JUDGEMENT ‼️ You said you are a dad , YOU LOVE YOUR KIDS NO MATTER WHAT, YOU MIGHT GET MAD AT THEM BUT YOU STILL LOVE THEM ‼️ Do they have to do anything for you to love them ⁉️

It's just how it works. Supply and demand. The U.S. population alone has grown around 100 million since 1990. And since guitars from the 50's and 60's are worth a bunch, the 70's to 2000's will go up in value too.

@christopherguzzi1316 the difference is 50s and 60s hold historic value. 70s were CBS garbage, and everything after that has been fine, but nothing special. There's a big difference between vintage and old.

Some of those vendors are retired people who think they are set, and just set up to show off their collections, and if someone is foolish enough to pay anywhere close to their asking price, then they will sell it. They don't care. Yet. But they will. Most people are in denial.

Everything is crazy priced now from food to guitars etc. Place down the street from me wants $19 for a sub (sandwich). I've been gassing for an Ernie Ball Axis music man and they're all going for $3K or more. Some dinged up ones you can get for low 2's. I bought a used EVH music man about 20 years ago for $2K, the real thing and regretfully sold it. Those are like $6-8K now, even more for the rarer colors and nicer quilts.

Don't even get me started on the used car market. I bought my 2012 GMC sierra for 20K with 70K miles. Under normal market conditions I would've paid at least 5 grand less. It priced me out of getting my guitar re-fretted and a new amp after rent with a car purchase.

I used to think that, but now I keep seeing guys with a bunch of 100 watt heads and no cabinets in their studio. They just run everything through attenuator boxes and DI it. So I guess it’s guitar cabs that are going out of fashion

But I do believe the Sermon on the Mount is divinely inspired and that Altruism, Paying it forward and promoting goodness in the world is the greatest work of life. Man is putting his money where his mouth is. A true act of one's faith.

That one vendor mentioned Jimi Soma from Somatone. I had him work on a handful of my amps when i was in Jersey. He worked on my Ampeg SD 12 i think it was. He was very honset and reasonable priced especially on that amp. I got it for 150 bucks plus a $99 dollar Alverez acoustic. The flip top had no sound. I took a chance on it, brought it to Jimi. Jimi said he replaced a couple of caps and some tubes. I think he charged me around 200 bucks. Great deal for me. He also worked on some other of my vintage amps. Maybe my Soldano too. He was great to talk to every time i was there too. He's, as he told me, really a Fender guy. He knows them inside and out. Great guy and very talented. Only reason i stopped going to him was i was a bit over an hours drive from him and i found Dennis Kaeger from Ampeg fame was only a half hour from me.

Man, I agree with this. I have 7 gtrs and 2 basses. Plus 4 amps. 3 gtr and a bass Amp. Do I really need to buy anything else? Probably not. And Gibson is just a status symbol any more. I play metal, I want guitars that I'm not afraid to play.

At the beginning that 66 Candy apple red bound dot neck jazz bass with the matching headstock is super rare and a steal. That was probably the best deal at that whole show. You should have grabbed that just for the investment. 13k was about half price.

When I was a teenager in the early 1980's I acquired a brand new LP Gold Top which I was not fond of, I was stunned when I went to several guitar stores in downtown Toronto and not one of them would entertain a trade for a new or even used Strat. At some point, I practically gave it away with no regrets. In today's market that guitar would have value to someone but back then no one cared.

I recall the west lab amp guy from around 12 years ago. he had invested many thousands into RV4 Clarostat pots in many unusual audio tapers etc, specific to amp builder needs. he seemed to build great amps according to the amp forum guys. last FB postings I saw were about his declining health, around 8 or 9 years ago.

Solidarity. Im 4 deep in Reverend Guitars and they just absolutely kick butt. Sensei Jr was my first one and it taught me more than any other single guitar that i owned. Ever. Sensei HB followed. Then a RG SUS goldtop. Then the wildwood pete anderson eastsider. Man. They are amazing guitars for the money. Imo.

@@heididragonfly yes, they really are amazing guitars. On top of that, dollar for dollar, they blow much higher priced guitars out of the water. I am absolutely sold on the goodness Reverend has to offer. My only recommendation to you is to consider getting a Double Agent. With a Railhammer and a P90, there's almost nothing one of those things can't do. It really is an amazing guitar.

Those multiscale basses with 3 pickups are Dingwalls. He makes a gorgeous and great sounding unit. They are played by John Taylor of Duran Duran, Lee Sklar, Stefan Lessard of The Dave Matthews Band, and many others.

That little "worthless" standard is a working mans racehorse bro. You treat her like she's a dog. We used to drool over the thought of owning one. I've had a at least 5 and they are long since gone. The last one I owned was a spotlight special that once belonged to Jeff Lebar of Cinderella. The frets were gone and the guitar was virtually unplayable. But it definitely had rock vibe and the worst buckle rash I've ever seen. Never buy used online unless you know the seller you are dealing with or can get a return policy for the sale.

You sound like that Brad Linzy guy, what I mean is I have been subbed to your channel for a very long time, I think around 8 or 9 years, so I have literally seen every video you have ever put out and many of them 5,10 or more times (no homo) My point is I am to the level where I almost know what you are going to play before you play it. I don't know how to express this exactly, but I know my style and there are certain things I will tend to play when checking out a guitar in similar circumstances. I don't play like you, but I have gotten to the point where I am so used to hearing you just jam/improve I can almost predict what licks you will rip. Does this make sense? You are a damn good guitar player in addition to your tube amp skills (again no homo) you are surely better than me at this point on the fretboard although when I was gigging regularly 10 years ago and back to the late 80's I think I was close, again different style, so hard to compare. I appreciate your content and will always have The Guitologist and Guitologist II subbed. I just wish YT would fold and we could go back to free speech on a new platform when the world returns to sanity/normalcy but that is another conversation. Cheers Sir!

I was a teenager in the late 90's, graduated in 98. One of my dads buddies owned a storage facilty... Someone didnt pay their rent or whatever and I ended up with 2 boxes of early and mid 80's metal tour shirts. Ozzy Bark At the moon, Priest Turbo, Def Leppard Pyromania...they all had the dates and the cities and whatnot on the back. I gave a few to friends, wore most if em. Sold a couple for WAY under market price, I didnt have the internet, I didnt know. That OZZY bark shirt turned out to be over a grand!!. The shirts I earned in the 90's, Ozzfest, Tyoe O Negative, Pantera, the shows I was old enough to go to, those are worth coin now as well Crazy World Man. Keep rockin!

You can tell that Supro has 10's. I just scavenged a 59' Lowery and got a pair of mint original Jensen P10Q's I was seriously tempted to sell them when I saw there were multiple people on Flea bay were asking $400 to $500 a piece for those buggers. But I also got a 6L6 PP amp chassis, 6- 59' RCA long plate 12AX7's which test NOS and a pair of Phillips ECG 6L6GC STR387's that test NOS (look up what they go for) For free, a picker guy I know called to say there was an old tube organ that was going to the dump, did I want it. I just went and ripped the parts I wanted off of it,

Parker guitars was one of the original boutique makers. They taught me to stay far far away from boutique. Their resale is complete ASS. if you want one to record or something? fine. But boutiques are awful investments

Tell that to Zemaitis or Alembic owners. Or original BC Rich owners. Or Train Wreck or Dumble owners. ;) What I've learned doing this is to play what inspires you and do it well. Buy used if you can. Or get in early before something blows up. Zig while others zag to find deals on stuff people are sleeping on and wait for people to become educated. I've also learned I have little in common with the huge corporations that run the big guitar companies and each year that passes finds me less interested in playing their guitars.

@TheGuitologist Those are four successful examples out of virtually thousands of not so successful boutique failures. There is no secret that boutique builds are not typically great investments. They are like cars. The moment you drive them out of the parking lot, they lose 30-50% of their value. Very few boutique builds have demonstrated the ability to appreciate in value like the usual suspects do. Two things can be true at the same time. Boutique equipment can be really outstanding builds and they are overwhelming bad investments

@@TheGuitologist The Dumble is the most over priced amp on earth. Same with vintage era LP's. If you're bored to tears and your garages are filled with high end race cars you might be interested in dropping a huge sum of money on folklore. It is stupid really, the only thing supporting the luxury guitar market are those dorks who became Dr's and Lawyers who wished they could be rock stars, we lived it bro, but they have the last laugh by artificially inflating prices because they have more money than they can ever spend. Those guitars belong in the hands of players not hanging on a dr.'s wall so he can brag to other Dr's about how he has a 58'LP kinda like Jimmy Page had, then they go eat their catered meal and drink $1000 wine. fags!

There are lots of amazing vintage guitars that sell for very little coin. Of course, if you want the same make and model every one else desires, you are going to pay for it. Supply and demand.
