Wow! That really made my day - thank you so much Damian! I was born in 1955, which some say is the beginning of "rock'n roll" music (?), although the phrase supposedly goes back to the great "Bosley sisters", who also supposedly coined the term "groovy"? 1955 was also the beginning of the US military's involvement in Vietnam, which influenced music and culture during my teenage years. My favorite rock music has become the earlier music, which this channel focuses on. That earlier music is groovier and more compelling to me than what came later, the music I listened to during my teenage years. I didn't understand how much more I loved the earlier music until decades later, thanks to the internet and channels like this. I greatly enjoyed my first tour of the R&R museum, and city of Cleveland. Thanks again for that fun and educational vlog brother Damian...............!

Early rockabilly took a lot from swing, bebop, and archtop jazz guitarists. As a teenager, I traded my 53 telecaster, my 68 Princeton, and $125 for a 1950ish L7 with a DeArmond on a monkey stick. The underground British Blues vibe was then about to crumble, and I had fallen in love with vintage jazz, big bands, bebop, and jazz guitarists. So, I appreciate any reference away from the solidbody guitar craze that hit like a tidal wave around 1969 and dominated almost everything since.

Damian, great job (as always) with this video, the HOF is on my Bucket List for sure! I also appreciate architecture and you definitely have a keen eye for spotting some beautiful examples of 19th and 20th century elegance. As for my all-time favorite Christmas movie, I was wondering if you noticed the radio in Ralphie's house, it looks like a 1939-43 Philco console - I love those old tube radios. Anyway, thanks so much and keep up the great work!

Welcome to the rust belt. A city of 3 nice blocks and the rest of the city is on fire. (I grew up in Toledo Ohio. Now live in Kenosha Wisconsin. The biggest shock to me going to Florida recently was all the stores and shops that were not only open but had stuff in them. lol. How lucky is deke to actually own that long horn and how generous is he to loan it out. The guy seems like a class act.

I love your content Damian! I always learn something new whether it's a lesson or a video like this. I wasn't familiar with Fast Freight by Ritchie Valen, now that's some juicy playing. Thanks for all of your great stuff, I can personally say that your videos and the rockabilly dvd I downloaded have really taken my playing to the next level. Your teaching is engaging and easy to take in and you really have gotten me looking at my instrument different after having felt in a rut for a long time. So thanks again Damian, great stuff here! Thanks for the video… Every Year in Sandwich England at the 50’s festival they have an exhibit called Eddies locker… It’s an awesome collection of Eddies personal items and family photos. Last year I treated myself to an original fan club pack from 1959. It’s framed and in my music room. I don’t know if the exhibit ever goes to the United States? Thank you very much, Damian. Really cool visit. I just dream to see Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, and I know that I never will, but I can say I did thank to you :-) Before ending that post, I have a question which I am sure you can answer : through some RU-vid videos I’ve learned that the guitar of Ritchie Valens (a green one) was gave to the place where Ritchie did his last show, few hours before dying in a plane accident, in Clearlake, Iowa. And I also know that the house of the mom of Ritchie was destroyed by a fire in the 80s I think (I’ve read it in the very awsome book “The Day the Music Died” by Larry Lehmer - which I suggest you to read if you never did - but I don’t remember the time of the fire. The thing I know for sure is that all the Ritchie’s stuff (clothes, intrument of music, etc) was completely destroyed. My question is : is one of the guitars exposed in the Hall of Fame or in Clearlake was not one of his but a model like him ? By the way, in your video you also said that everybody knows “Johnny B. Good” : Not only I know it, but I’ve learned it on guitar thank to you ! And mastered it there’s only 3 days ago. It took me three months to know it just like perfect. It’s not easy as we could think, but if we practice an hour a day, work is always rewarded ! Thank you very much once again and Take Care of Business, my friend ! :-)
@Damianblf
@Damianblf 5 месяцев назад
Thank you so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. The Stratotone in Clear lake, Iowa in The Surf is a re-issue Valens signature model. The story of Ritchie's Stratotone was that it was lost or stolen for many years and was somehow returned to the family. So that can explain why the guitar wasn't in the fire.

Sorry Damie.. I personally hold so much distain for the, Joke N roll.. Oops? I mean "the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" (even a little more than I have for Cleveland, Ohio it' self) Anyway I wouldn't visit that place even I lived across the street and admission was free? Regardless of what exhibits they might have to view? Now days ..Well for the past several years anyway. I feel strongly that "the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" Is an affront to the meaning of Rock & Roll and the true spirit how where and why those words were coined And have appropriated and twisted the culture and true meaning ..Of "Rock & Roll. Sorry for the gripe and long diatribe.. But the place is a cultural fraud.
