Hello everyone. I noticed that with the new mic there is popping on P sounds. I am working on a solution for this, but didn't want to delay this video any longer so I hope it's not too distracting.
Shotguns only become a problem in pvp when the game fails to moderate their availability. This is why Halo 2, 3, and Reach had it perfect. The shotgun was a rare and limited power up that you couldn't just sit on all day. If someone fell out of bounds with it or it ran out of ammo, it would be a while before it respawned. It made certain spots on maps worth fighting for since it could act as a reward. The maps usually had plenty of space which made the shotgun quite situational in many cases. Meanwhile in Destiny 2, people could spawn with shotguns which became immediately problematic. Even if it only had two shots per spawn, it was still a problem because most maps were cramped and claustrophobic enough to feel like you're trapped in a sardine can. Then you had the "shotgun apes" who would slide on the floor around corners with their shotguns for cheap kills. As long as Marathon doesn't let anyone spawn with a shotgun outside of special modes or events, limits the ammo to a reasonable amount, and keeps all maps spacious enough where the shotgun can't dominate, there should be no problem.
I agree. Even though we don't have much info on the maps from what we've seen they will have decent amount of open areas where shotguns should be weak. Now if there's a map on the derelict Marathon that might be like factory in Tarkov.
Not sure how long you've been playing Bungie games or how much experience you have, but infering anything from real life gun design to bungie gun design will give you next to 0 clues on what kind of gun it'll be or how it'll behave. They're notorious for making 0 sense with gun design.
I have played Bungie games enough to know that it was much better with Halo, but with Destiny any ounce of realism went out the window. I expect the same with Marathon, but we could see more realistic designs. However, what we've seen so far has not impressed me, but they do look cool, which matters the most.
The assault rifle's profile is so cool, you can really see how it evolved into what we got in Halo. Loved the new mic, thanks for the Marathon content! What do you think the runner is holding in their other hand at 4:50?
I'm not entirely sure and I don't know when in development this sketch is from. It doesn't look like the small hacking device we've seen. Since it has wires hanging of like it was ripped from another device yet looks to have a handle built into it. My best guess is it was a design for an objective item, like a large data storage device (Which would be very important to finding out what happened) or some kind of power device (It reminds me of a battery, specifically larger ones seen on military vehicles due to its size) or it's a boombox which would be the coolest imo lol. It could be a very valuable item carried in the players hands instead of their inventory limiting them to the use of sidearms like in Helldivers. Thanks for the feedback on the mic.
If I recall correctly, the Pfhor did assault the Tau Ceti colony and were defeated by the other cyborgs, and this new game is set up as mercenaries sifting through the remains of that colony at some later point, so alien weapons might be high value, rare items.
100% agree. I'm not even confident we'll see living Pfhor either and since the s'pht rebelled they might not be enemies either, but we know there are Ai enemies so its a toss up..
As someone who wasted their time playing Battlefield, CoD, Halo, and Destiny I really appreciate this video. I hope they do bring the SPNKR in. That was one of points of Halo was fighting for the power weapons. I don't care if people cry about it being over powered. It's a rocket launcher! Also your mic sounds leaps and bounds better than your previous one. Looking forward to part 2 of this video.
Thanks for the feedback. It might have sounded like it, but I'm would really be opposed to more powerful weapons, like the SPNKR. I really enjoy Hunt Showdown and it has some very powerful weapons but in that game they are balanced by a pretty hefty price. It could be cool to be able to explore and find a locked weapon cache or armory and be rewarded with a Rocket launcher. It would make the exploration of the map feel worth it.
Those guns definitely look cool. I should really get around to playing through the Marathon trilogy on Steam. They should’ve made the new Marathon be another single player game, or gave us something akin to Black Mesa for the original trilogy. Take advantage of newer technology to add environmental storytelling, better enemy ai, fixing various issues with the originals, and having voiced characters/minor scripted sequences like you see in Doom 2016 (one thing I like about that game is how the people who aren’t interested in the story can just ignore it, but the people who are interesting can find lots of information scattered around the levels. It’s basically the evolution of Marathon’s storytelling approach). I don’t have much faith in the new game since Bungie is currently in shambles. The leaks/news don’t sound good, and what’s just what we know.
I would not complain in the slightest if Marathon was a standard linear game and I agree, with newer technology it would be amazing. I'd 100% support a remaster of the OG trilogy. The way they handle the story will be important to many including myself. I will admit I am worried about Marathon and am disappointed we have gotten nothing new yet. I think everyone should be cautiously optimistic and definitely not preorder.
In Destiny 2, there's also a Mida Multi Tool which I'm told came from Marathon. Is it just the foundry or did that weapon exist in the Marathon universe?
Neither Mida multi Tool nor Mini Tool Existed in the original trilogy, The AI might have mentioned them but I don't recall them doing so, but from the D2 lore pages we know they are canon to the Marathon universe.
@@TauCetiNewsNetwork ah thanks. BTW - today is the PlayStation State of Play which might show something about Marathon, but you probably already know that 😉
mic quality is great! i also just want to say that i really really appreciate channels like yours, bonn's and Jake the alright's. most other times i see news or discussion its negative, saying the game will be dead on arrival and all that. keep up the awesome work, i love the videos.
Unfortunately some in the Destiny community see this game as a threat to Destiny, but if Marathon succeeds so will Destiny. There not any real way this game will be dead on arrival so don't worry. Its mainly clickbait. Thank you for the kind words.
