The Halo Infinite Experience 

For the part at the end of the video, I would agree that the way shooters are now are different from when Halo was at its peak. Nowadays it is all about more difficult aim mechanics and such. Halo is an arena shooter so the actual skill gap comes in with map/power weapon/vehicle control. Since TTKs are generally higher in this game its also not as "I have a faster reaction time than you so I win" game like cod or destiny now

I played an unhealthy amount of infinite MP daily during season 1, maxed out the ridiculously grindy battle pass without paying for skips, bought the stupid cat ear cosmetic for far too much money etc lol. I genuinely had so. much. fun. during that first season. 100% of that time was spent with voice chat turned off. This video reminded me of why I turn off voice chat in multiplayer games. These people are absolutely insufferable to listen to. Good video, reminded me of the fun I had when infinite MP was new.

I like to solo queue in btb it keeps the game challenging for me, even though I still rage occasionally when I don’t do well, I have to keep reminding myself that I want it to be difficult so I don’t get tired of it. I also don’t play any ARENA mode because it’s so boring I feel like that is the biggest reason people stop playing is because they play too much arena and it’s just not fun after awhile

The first shooter I got to play consistently was Halo Reach and I still love playing it on PC in MCC. But I’ve been playing a lot of Infinite recently and honestly, I really love it. There’s some changes I don’t love, just in terms of certain weapons being different and maybe just nostalgia factor lost due to no classic shotgun or DMR, but everything else is just fun. It’s one of the few shooters you can just play and enjoy and mess around in and not be frustrated even when you are doing not the greatest in game. I see hate about infinite and I’m not really sure why. Maybe it’s the campaign, which I haven’t played, and that would be understandable cause halo has always been very story driven. However, the fact that the multiplayer is free, arcadey, has fun and weird game modes, fairly accessible to anyone of any experience level, and the rest just makes it really great. Is it the best shooter? No, definitely not, nothing will ever dethrone Titanfall 2. But is it good and has it had consistent updates, content additions, and support? Yep and the game has improved since release, both of which is more than you can say for a majority of other “AAA” shooters for the last few years. Halo Infinite gets good points in my book. Also, the assault rifle is actually viable in multiplayer now which is a great QoL upgrade for standard halo game modes.

Spot on at the end, the game is shallow and the core formula hasn't changed in years. It's fun for a few hours and then you sort of have your fill of it, it doesn't really have enough depth to keep you engaged long enough, the progression system is kinda ass too

😮‍💨 i miss halo 5. Miss feeling like my spartan was well... A spartan. Advanced tech, cool suit customizations, soild abilities and great movement. Felt like the characters could actually fight aliens and etc. Now it just feels like im a guy in a clunky suit and the only abilities i really have are ones i get from the conveniently placed floor drops. Feels like they just went backwards. Also warzone, warzone was such a fun time when it first dropped.

There are too many algorithms at play. Eomm/sbmm has intruded way too far to where public matches are really an illusion of a contest. I call infinite Halo Simulator. R.i.p. my favorite competitive multiplayer. If you organize customs, a few of the cons you described won't be there. It will feel a bit more like how halo is supposed to be. This one is literally an eomm microtransaction bot farm💔. And its working well enough that i have no hope that it will be corrected.

I love Halo for what it truly is. But this game is no longer focused on the social aspect of playing. It's always betting against you to lose a game by giving you a difficult match up if you play by yourself.

You should play the finals, get in on the hype while its fresh man.

Halo infinite I’ve tried changing my sensitivity and enjoy the game but rather play mcc and halo 5, for me it’s smooth. Halo infinite is its own game, just waiting for the next halo until then I’m on old Gen consoles upgrading to pc instead

HALO is a party game, not a competitive game. Can you not be competitive in HALO? Yes, yes you can, but is the franchise on the same competitive level as QUAKE or CS? Absolutely not. Hell, nothing even compares to QUAKE so there's that. HALO has always been about those hilarious sessions with your friends, or random people, playing goofy, pulling off insane plays, the blissful physics and outrageous modes people come up with. There's no reason why HALO shouldn't be Top 25 most played shooters, even to this day. 343 has just no idea what HALO is even meant to be, and that's simply a really smooth ass shooter with hilarious physics, and great gunplay, that is a party game, but with guns.

I loved the video but completely disagree with your assessment. You basically said Halo has a low skill gap and that you mastered the game in a short period of time. It's notorious for having an extremely high skill gap. Yes it has a very low skill floor so anyone can pick the game up. But the skill ceiling in Halo is almost limitless. That combined with high TTK allows for out plays unlike any other game. Play against a mid to high level onyx and then honestly tell me if you think you mastered the game. Saying that Halo has a low skill gap in it's aiming and moving mechanics is misinformation. Also, calling Halo's gameplay shallow is comical. Watching a Shyway video breaking down mechanics would instantly prove that statement incorrect. Some of the best editing I've ever seen though.

You know, I've played with some really insufferable people in the past but this video reminded me that things could always be worse

Glad you enjoyed infinite, it can be quite a fun game, but given its’ arena shooter nature what little skill wall / learning curve there is comes more from map knowledge, intricate movement mechanics etc. I am old by comparison to most that play halo / arena shooters now. So I prefer the older halo titles, due to a strong mix of heavy nostalgia, and the older games being genuinely more difficult (having more noticeable skill gaps, less skill-based matchmaking, pacing is important, some game-modes mean not immediately diving in etc). I’m also a lot slower than I once was - because I’m old lol - and I don’t have the spare time to play as much as I do, so I find infinite’s hyper fast paced, always ‘ranked’ multiplayer tiring and disengaging. For those that liked the look of Halo Infinite, I can strongly recommend The Master Chief Collection. It’s all the classic mainline halo games stuffed into one, with their classic game engines & multiplayers, with mod support and active servers etc. And during sales it can go down to ~ $5 for the whole thing, remasters, dlcs and all

Halo was good because of the gameplay 12 years ago but that wasn’t the only thing, it was the community. For some reason the people 12 years ago to me felt so tame and just fun to play with but not only that, the sheer creativity the community had when it came to custom games. That’s what made halo shine to me because instead of a COD lobby, you can nust have a normal conversation (not nowadays obviously).

You should try some of the forge game modes. The things people make are absolutely wild

Respectfully, I sort of disagree with what he said about the skill gap and depth of skill in Halo. At surface level, it is a casual game because of its Arena aspect. But, the pro scene and comp scene in Halo, while small, is some of the best Esports around. The team fights, mechanics and individual skills that are shown off at high level play are both insane, and at many times tough to pull off. Halo Infinite's player base dropped off because it had a shitty launch and has struggled to recover ever since, not because of its casual nature in social play. Also, it's had the best player count this season since launch, so it's even doing better than the last year or so. The movement tech, equipment, and high level team play you can see in Ranked and in the pro scene showcases how deep this game can be in terms of skill. Pulling off a curb slide to bounce from one point to another while hitting an insane snipe to get your team an advantage on the map is insanely hard to pull off but is rewarding when you do so. When they switched to the Bandit in Ranked, it increased the skill gap even more, because a BR can hit at least one bullet with a 3 burst spray, but now everyone has a one shot precision weapon that requires every shot to land. At the end of the day, it's an Arena shooter where teams need to fight for power weapons and position control, but at the higher levels, it's much more difficult and team based. The Pro scene this year is going to be insane to watch, that's for sure.

I actually disagree with the last part of the vid, there are so many parts of halo that you have to learn and many of my friends that I got into halo didn’t even know how to traverse the maps, use the weapons, or use melee correctly. Playing halo a lot (mnk) helped me so much in other games like ow and valorant, and in only a couple of weeks I was already out aiming my 200 hrs mccree main friend and my plat Val friends. I think SirD came into halo with already very good mnk aim because everyone I know struggles a lot with the aim and shield system when they first started off

It's been a minute since I've played Halo Infinite. This might be the push to get me back into it. Been wanting to play the campaign, despite what everyone says about it.
