Man this shows that you and Brian are true friends you guys both can actually joke without problems 😂 that’s how me and my boys are great video as always
Moved from Pgh (Shadyside) to NC about 18 months ago. Just traded in my '11 M3 for a F150 and I've been diggin your content on the truck! You're definitely giving me some ideas and it's nice to support a fellow Pittsburgher.
Seems like your weather changes it's mind like it does here in Eastern Washington. The other day it was sunny and looked like a spring morning. Then over night it snowed a few inches and became total ice. Gotta love it. Great video as always!
Mike There was water coming in around the tailgate in the vid. I cured that on my Ford with a gasket kit. It covers the sides and the gap between the bottom of the tailgate and the bed. Also quieted the road noise.
I put in a pace edwards electric cover. Perfect fit and my buddy did it when i had a back surgury. He has no mechanical ability. Plus i have explorer rails that accomadate tie downs or ladder racks with no additional holes. I have had it 4 years now in northeast winters and love it. Worth every penny.
Looks great, I personally like my truxedo for the fact it's quickly removable. The roll actually mounts to the rails and without even getting in the bed pull 2 tabs and pull the hole roll off. Really necessary on a 5.5' bed
Hey buddy! It looks amazing...this truck came up so much from stock...it's just the best F150 I've ever seen! And the cover is brilliant. ..and makes the truck complete
The weather in Lansing, MI was crazy last week also. Last Wednesday it was -40 with the wind chill, thanks to the polar vortex and on the following Sunday it was +50. I didn't even wear my jacket Sunday night when I was delivering for Domino's.
@@CCscott *My wife just tried Kaopectate with QUIKRETE Mortar Mix. As you mentioned, it was much easier for her to swallow and it seems to have plugged her anus quite well. Thanks.*
Aerodynamicly speaking, there's an air bubble that "rolls" in the bed with the tailgate up so there's no downforce on the bed in the manner you described. If you open your tailgate, than yes there will be added downforce as you described. Tests have shown that adding a bed cover will gain you about 10-15% (average) more mpg. With a hard shell topper you can expect to see mpg gains of 20-25%.
@@Alongfortheride693 using a dodge, because it's what the class had ar their disposal.... they put the truck in a windtunnel and got its drag coefficient numbers then put the truck in the tunnel with Tailgate open, off, nerf tailgate topper and bed cover. With the trucks average mpg (city/hwy combined of 15mpg) they used that as the base numbers. After putting in the numbers they got from their tests the outcome was from best to worst. Toper with a gain of 2.5 mpg Cover with a gain of 1.7 mpg Truck as is at 15 mpg Nerf net a loss of .5 mpg and Tailgate down/off a loss of 1.2 mpg Mythbusters later confirmed half those tests. FACT
Love it! I have a trifold and I have to take it off all the time and if you are away somewhere and take it off then you have no where to put it. Barely fits in the cab if the passengers seat is up pretty far. I get water in mine as well at the front corner. Definitely looking into something like this in the future when mine needs to be replaced.
Morimoto headlights next, but expensive, but so worth it.. honestly theyre only a Little bit more expensive then the factory led lights if you bought from ford, but in my opinion they look way better then factory! Then do some leather seats and other interior mods! Keep them coming! Truck is looking fabulous..
Looks great..good job and that..even thou u did it the hard way lol..u and Mike are a team..been a crazy weather winter huh..good day..txs 4 the vid..🍻
Hey Buddy, have you looked at upgrading the brakes on the truck now it is supercharged? Or do the wheels restrict you on putting in some bigger brakes?
Obviously myth busters tested the mpg difference with the tailgate up or down and/or cover. @Autovlog get back with us with your real world results. Love to hear it since im shopping for a cover for my 2018 f'150. Thanks & good vid!
The one worry I would have with the powered tonneau cover is if it needed to be opened/closed in sub-freezing weather. I wouldn't want to potentially break the motor trying to open the cover if there was any kind of ice buildup in the tracks or elsewhere.
Tests have shown that for the best numbers across the board a given truck will benefit with just the standard tailgate closed. With any of those flat liner kits, certain things change making them not as good as given advertisements say.
Mike, Love your videos. They definitely show me what NOT to do. I have a '19 F-150 V8 I just got last week. It's an LX with the STX Package. Black like yours. I'll take my time with any mods. perhaps the exhaust will be my first, but only when the original needs replacing. Its pretty stripped down in the plush stuff but looks BADASS already. I am considering getting the decals to match the Special Edition Package. I'd have to get someone to put them on for me though. Check out the decals. Maybe that should be your next mod.
How long do you plan on keeping that truck? I’m all about how long something lasts. Like I have a 03 supercrew fx4 and I’m keeping it until wheels fall off. I want to know how long a 5.0 with a supercharger will last. I’d love to get 200k out of it.
I like the open bed except when it rains. ha. the auto-roll seems a little busy with all the wiring and under mount motor and the stow-away. But thanks for the vid, we have a manual roll on work truck that works good but the velcro is shot. Anyway great video .
I have a 2015 supercab with a 4" bds lift, 33x10 tires with bilstien shocks front and rear. This truck rides insanely rough, my question, is this normal? Does your truck ride rough? I have nitto ridge grapplers at 34psi
Mike cover looks good. I had thought about the Automatic cover but after long debate I had went with the Manual version. WORST CASE SCENARIO - If battery goes dead for any reason or there is no power to the vehicle, No way to get into the bed. "Tailgate is power actuated" and the "Slide is Powered" I just wanted a way to get into the bed in this worst case scenario.
This bed cover looking amazing!! I have the tri-fold from ford which came with my truck. Unfortunately the seal broke somewhere and completely ruined the cover causing it to bubble.... I would like something like this but $1,300 for a bed cover seems a bit steep!
What aspects of the install did you and Pipsburgh not follow? Curious to know... I was considering this cover but looking to order the fold and lock instead.
Gosh see the hate on here its unreal my goodness. Just be happy for the man. He got a new toy that comes with a remote lol. Hell I'm happy for him. Heard they last a long time for all the na sayers and I'm sure he did his research .
I too thought the Roll-N-Lock was a good idea in 97 for my 97 Dodge 2500. It was black and manual open & close. Worked great until it was hot out side and in full sun would burn the skin off your hands. In winter when the snow and ice freeze on the top it's not usable. When the drain lines plug up with dirt and leaves and the water freezes, again not usable.
Excellent purchase mike think it's a hell of lot better even with it not being a major mod, is the tailgate mods you got going to be fitted soon also? And one of those covers on the raptor will look smart too 💯👌
