This is the incredible true story of an elite Allied sniper unit during the Second World War. Black Watch Snipers documents the Canadian military experience during World War Two as seen through the eyes of the country's most storied regiment-the Black Watch.
Using eyewitness interviews from Black Watch veterans, this documentary covers events in the ten months following D-Day in June 1944, as seen through the eyes of five snipers who led the charge through Nazi occupied Europe. The snipers, who led their platoon to victory and survived to tell the tale, reveal the harrowing details of their march towards Germany, while dramatic reconstructions of the major battles bring their story to life.

The Canadians and Australians are always underrated and yet were completely INDISPENSABLE to the allies during BOTH wars. They were absolutely 💯 reliable and consistently excellent shots as well as being brave as hell. We’d have been nothing without them….. Thanks from Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 UK. Your sacrifice saved us all - including my family who were on one side in the RAF and on the other in the Tanks.

Here in Belgium, Americans had such a big impact on our people that since the war every region where Americans fought (and probably Canadians as well) had citizens who spoke some English. even in rural places. So much so we were very early to embrace English sung songs and had the very first European Jazz festival with American jazz legends coming over.

These guys risked everything to save so many, these tales need to be told to everyone and should never be be forgotten. They were the real people and real heroes. After seeing this I shed many tears. I don't know anyone in my life alive now who I think would have done what the Black Watch accomplished, recent experience there would have been far too much talking, procrastination and nothing done when action would have been required, The end result being default failure. God bless you Black Watch.

I am so baffled by their story of courage, heroism, brotherhood. As a Belgian i visited the battlegrounds of D day and the cemetary of American soldier. I did this bc they were a huge part of the liberation of our country and saw historical, military musea where Canadian gear, weapons, uniforms were displayed. But i never heard the story of the Black Watch before and how big their part was in liberating our country. Great documentary, well done ! Loved the interviews with the Belgians and Dutch people as well.

Interesting and informative. Excellent photography pictures 📷/reenactments. Enabling the orator & veteran snipers. Sharing personal information/combat experiences making this documentary more authentic and possible. Fighting/perishing/surviving knowing certain death/debilitating wounds were often times possible. Yet still advanced forward regardless of the consequences. That's true grit style determination to succeed. A special elite group of soldiers. Mentally/physically/spirituality.😇😇😇😇😇😇
