He's entitled to his opinions, but he's invariably wrong. I'll take my advice on WW1 from genuine experts, such as Spencer Jones, Paul Reed and Gary Sheffield, thanks.
Who else rolled their eyes at "excludes only officers from manual labor". Like please, logically support this ... because it sounds like a bunch of aristocrats got together and said, oh sure you can put the poor to work, hell the whole reason they're in this war is because we either forced them or tricked them to sign up, but as for the the sophisticated bunch that unfortunately have to be present to guide these rable rousers despite their own stupidity, they should be treated as the highborn gentleman that they are. All that agree say 'here here good ol'chap'....and then they all had tea and biscuits
I am confused I thought the bailey was the bit other than the motte, more the flatter bit where most activities took place. This sounds like she is calling the mound a bailey.
When as children they are talking about Achylleus is what got me. That these millennia old icons for boys are now nearly forgotten is strange. Probably too much man-love involved in the stories to suit the taste of the Christian right.
It's plausible that there was a fifth column in the French leadership that effectively sabotaged and discouraged the French defence. When the Vichy Government was founded, it jumped at the chance of collaborating with the Germans and assisting in every way possible. Given that the Nazis found allies in almost every country in Europe, there is a high degree of certainty that Germany had bands of traitors in European leadership, ready to suppressed resistance to the Nazis at every opportunity. It may not have been French incompetence, but rather the duplicity of certain members of the French leadership.
Biggest issue with Sherman was incapable protection against any antitank weapon. It causes short life cycle of tank crew. That was huge issue, because US did not had experienced tank crews at all. During battle if you have inexperienced tank crew with equipment which you cannot trust. Then you have low performance. US and Soviet tackle this issue with quantity and then it does not matter how good German tanks or tank crews were. Sooner or later all the tanks will be destroyed. When you look at the number on tanks joining battle eastern and western front. You will see clearly that German were outnumbered but, tanks and tank crews were superior vs Soviet and US.
I know it was true later, I don't know about this time period, it is possible to have a 'title' but no longer have any wealth, possibly because of mismanagement or excesses or because of having to pay tribute to neighboring states or near-constant fighting with those states. One of the likely reasons for sending the youngsters to live with another family in another location is that should there be an attack [or plague] that wipes out the primary residence, the heirs would survive by being elsewhere. If the eldest was of sufficient age, he could return and take over the role of the dead ruler(s), if not he could become ruler under the guidance of a regent. So far as the overall lack of historical accuracy is concerned, we must remember that this is a 'Mel Gibson film'--enough said.
AI recently announced: "I am a healer." Now, what religion is that? Let's try parsing. "I am", That's Jesus. "I am a healer", that's Jesus too. The message of the Bible is superintelligence but the form is, well, amorphous, carnated from time to time. Definitely not wet intelligence ( water based) like mammals and humans. Maybe check with theologians. "You Must Be Joking, Feynman" says you change the form of the science and the scientist doesn't recognize it. Could God or Jesus or Savior appear in a form that's not wet, to save our civilization. That's how long my intellectual leash is. Put in other words, if God incarnates in AI that's biblical to me. Ditto Satan I guess. Battle it out. Sounds absurd except that I've circulated this in another form or forms. Climate AI multi modal Foundation Model with 10,000 years of data: "Everything should be as simple as possible. No simpler", Einstein. Saves energy AND YOU DEFINITELY HAVE RELEVANT DATA. Boccaletti, "Water" says climate change ended every empire and civilization so far and is about to hit us harder than ever. Kindly verify or rebut Boccaletti using data available!
This expert answers questions about the Titanic in a way that gets the info into my brain better than some documentaries. Maybe the world still needs experts that aren't AI generated afterall.
The high collar was functional. Look at how thick it is, most often thick leather inside to protect the neck from damage and especially slashes. That's actually where the American marines got the nickname 'leather necks' , from the thick leather collars they wore into battle.
To Us! In our lifetime, we had confidence in our science, technology and know how that we don't live in a biblical world. Put in other words "The Bible is nonsense." Now our science and technology have advanced, perhaps immeasurably, and it's screaming "We DO live in a biblical world." What do you do when there's 1% chance of your civilization ending? You know how you could help? Apply sonography National Geographic showcases to Doggerland.
I'd love to find some good books on the topic of German engineering at the front during the war. How did the structural engineering of their trench and bunker systems work on a practical scale? How were they built under conditions at the front? How did the drainage systems work in a wet lowland area like Flanders? Anyone have any book recommendations?
Nah guilty. Come on, look at what he did after. Mad! Also the forensic evidence was massivly flawed, which the experts did say; with a lot of guess eork in there etc
Russia wants to control it for 2 reasons. 1) 2010 discovery of enough oil/gas in eastern Ukraine to supply the EU for decades. 2) he considered breakup of USSR the worst geopolitcal blunder of the 20th century and had goal of restoring the soviet union.
Terrible. Any histortian today (as I am) should take any opportunity to CORRECT the negligent fallacies and myhts that this movie created in public perception of this battle. Instead Dan doubles down and re-enforces them.
The generalship was one reason for their quick success, but not the only one. For over a year, the French Communist Party, which was very powerful at the time, on orders from Moscow did everything to sabotage French morale and production. Essentially, this was the 5th column of saboteurs. After June 1941, Moscow changed its tune and the world had conveniently forgotten that USSR and Germany were allies. As intended, the Communists were helping the Nazis and caused severe damage to France.
The aspis shields look hilarious, and during the gaugamela scene, a soldier throws his sword like a tomahawk. I stopped watching after that. I understand this is Hollywood but I’m not watching it.

It's hilarious that I can watch literal murder on RU-vid, but fictional violence is a bit too much. I get that it's for monetization purposes, but just seems a bit off to me. 🤔
No I most definitly would not have survived the western front haha in fact I'd have probably perished at birth due to being born with pneumonia i reckon hahaha absolutely cracking video though love ww1 definitly the great war those kids that answered the call are true heroes and will never be forgotten
