The harsh reality of software engineering… 

You forgot 20% on doing nothing, that's important

One thing i noticed after entering to SE , i lost my social life , fun and hope. Even after work i com home eat and start coding or learning new stuff or unclear stuff , most of the time its really hard to get help from seniors. I am deciding to move to another industry soon since i want to live happily.

It feels like, for us entry level devs who havent had their first job yet, feels like building a startup or micro-saas's, saas, etc, is looking like the only way to put our skills that we worked so hard on for years to build, to use. Its extremely daunting. Not to mention A.i companies pouring millions into media trying to market the idea that Devs are replaceable with A.i. Which isnt even true, however Devs using A.i will also be the reason that a team of 10 Devs will be reduced to just 2 or 3, who can do the work of 10 by using A.i. I feel so lost in my direction moving forward, whereas 2 years ago before the big tech crash, i felt like i had the brightest future ahead of me. I understand that markets go up and down, but this hit that we entry level devs are taking hardest, is truly a major blow to our potential and future hopes. What do we even do in our situations?? Who would be willing to hire an entry level dev, when you got senior level devs or intermediate level devs or even junior devs with years of experience at FAANG companies that you could hire instead as they became jobless? We're being told from every direction to quit, and some of us still cling to hope and the same drive we had before the crash. But what do we do? Besides building our own product's that'll most likely be shadowed eventually by updates to Open-Ai? You've got people building successful products, then Sam Altman makes some announcements of updates being added to Open-Ai that puts whatever you built out of business.. like what directions do we steer ourselves in? The only hope is taking the Machine Learning path and learning Calculus to thrive in A.i development, which most of us avoided before this crash due to its high level of difficulty.. is the only way up, to go this extremely difficult route? Im sorry im just ranting.. but someone had to. What the heck does an entry level do at times like this? 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

Assuming you're troubleshooting/fixing code, I'd consider that coding.

In this current environment, those still on the job are not better off than those who were laid off. Things will get better.
