As a Capitals fan it is such a relief not to see my team lamented for being eliminated in the second round and actually in the Stanley Cup Finals. Go Caps.

You may have hit the nail on the head with this critique of Canadian ownership. So many want to blame the league for being biased against the Great White North - and clearly Bettman does have an obsession with making hockey succeed south of the Mason Dixon - but it's clear most of those who own the Canada teams are among the worst types of money grubbers: Those that KNOW they'll draw money regardless of the team performance and thus don't put out any effort. It's like the Tribune Company owns every team north of the border.

As a wings fan who loves Ovie. I really fucking hope the caps just do it this year for fucksakes. Ovie has always been one of my favorite players since he came into the league. And I like how you bring up Yzerman. How Yzerman was a dominate player throughout his career but fell short for 14 seasons even with a solid wings squad. Untill finally winning in 1997 after he was drafted in 93. I’ve always said that Ovie and his failures remind me of Yzerman. I hope They just get it done this year. Especially with the post season Ovie has had and the way the caps have had its ups and downs throughout the playoffs. If they lose, that’d be sad as fuck lol

Seeing how Vegas has done so far gives me hope for Seattle. Maybe they can get the Cup yet again.

...Well, I expected the Caps to implode against the Lightning. But then sometime during Game 5 the Lightning offense wandered into the Bermuda Triangle, never to be seen again. This team channeled their inner Claude Julien, but forgot the most important thing of all - you cannot win a game by scoring no goals. Rescue crews are still searching for the offense, and it won't be found until sometime in October. Congrats, Lightning!

I want to say I see Ovechkin as the Peyton Manning type, puts up great numbers, but chokes in the postseason. The similarities are quite apparent. Year after year, choke after choke, they finally make it a year where they flew under the radar. They both made the finals by beating the team that dominated them year after year (Brady/Patriots and Crosby/Penguins). Will the story end the same? Time will tell. I hope so. However, I won't feel bad if Vegas wins. It really is a great story either way.
