Yeah, they were pretty advanced. I watch Nikki and Steve as well. I watched the show and their reaction at the same time. Yeah its a great show, filled with depth and complexity mixed with great writtening. There is so much more that people haven't picked up on. I don't want to ruin it for them which is why I won't comment on it so much.

I definitely see Steve's side and he wasn't wrong by any means. I think the only thing I hold against him in the situation is his timing. He had a right to feel how he felt but he shouldn't have said what he said right then when they're celebrating

It was actually Shirley the one who paid (despite Steve having more money now. He just picked up Luke because he was closest), and the one who assumed the responsability for the younguer siblings. Not Steve, despite him being the oldest. It *is* very hard and frustrating, and really exhausting to deal with a loved one with addiction, absolutely! And he is right to distrust Luke a bit after so many let downs! I do have some experience on that. My grampa was an alcoholic and later had dementia, and my mother is a recovered addict and drinker (hasn't ever used or drank NOT ONCE in since I can recall, but she smokes A LOT). And my aunt (her sister) also has a big dependence on alcohol, and sometimes has depressive episodes. It's all very messy (I went to live with my dad at age 12. Sufice to say, I don't smoke or drink), and my grandma and I are always in the middle of whatever unstability might come up from my mom and aunt. And while my mom remains clean, she's still quite conflictive. But grandma and I are always showing up when my aunt has her episodes, despite my mom saying contantly that she's a grown woman, who should help *herself,* and neither grandma or I can make her change if she won't even admit that she has a problem. And it's true. One is compelled to go and help your loved ones, but one can only do so much. It's not up to anyone else to do the whole work and "save" someone else, with love alone, much as we'd like to. And if you have a problem, having support and encouragement is very important, and a blessing to have! But by the end of the day, it's the person who needs to take ownership for themselves. And that is a long and difficult road, full of slides and stumbles. And as a friend or family, you musn't do as Nellie did in the car secene in the rain... as much in pain as they seem to be, and this happens many times, they end up dragging you too, to take part in their self-destructive tendencies. As much as they also love you, that is simoly wrong. After a while, sometimes what it takes is some tough love, or you simply need to cut ties, or nothing will change. And sometimes, you have to let them go completely, for you own health and wellbeing. It's tough. In Steve's case, however, while his position is completely understandable, he is seing Luke is actually making an effort. And yes, it might have happenned a thousand times before, but demeaning his will to improve this early in the process, after he has found support within the Center as well, is WAY more likely to push him out of his recovery than to be of any help. It was way too soon for these kind of confrontations, even if warranted. And for someone who already has hurt his relationship with his other siblings, he was too harsh. Specially when it wasn't him who took care of Luke's rehab, or regularly answered Nellie's calls... That was all Sherley. And she had a lot of stress about it. Her lashing out at Luke for relapsing, escaping a d showing up high to Nellie's wedding... and being "mean" to him and distrustfull of his recovery makes sense for her and her situation. For Steve... it's kind of uncalled for. And even if he was right about Joey in the end... she relapsed and betrayed Luke's trust, just as Luke had done to his siblings many times, too, regardless of his kind heart and genuine intentions. Addiction turns people into their worst selves. They're still accountable, but they're not worthless, nor incenciere. She's no guiliter than Luke might have been, and she was the one to support Luke during his hard times there, regardless. OhMyGodSorryForThisLongAssReply

Luke's episode was way sadder than Nell's episode. Seriously Nell's episode is really overrated.

5 and 6 are some of the best TV I've seen and I'm old

Personally, Hill House was way sadder for me. Bly Manor was just as interesting to watch, and I also really loved the characters, but Hill House just hit me on a different level

For real. Hill House is scarier and more depressing throughout but it ends on a very uplifting note. Bly is a tragedy through and through.

Bly Manor was good but Hill House was better imo

Theo expressing depression in ep 8 and Nell's death story is sadder than everything in bly Manor Combined.

SPOILER . . . . Steve isn't in "denial" about Nellie killing herself. She literally went back to the house and hung herself. That's literally what the official report says, and what Shirley says (the one who prepared the body for the funeral). He is right to believe that she killed herself because all of the facts says that she did.

Joey is an addict that fell of the wagon. She literally left Luke a note telling him not to follow her. Joey kissing Luke so she could steal the money from him is like the many times Luke stole money from his siblings over the years. By your logic we should "hate Luke so much!" for doing that to his family.
