Been to Sanya, loved it. English not spoken so it's difficult dealing with check in/check out at hotels. Popular with Russians hence all the Russian signage.

I lived in Sanya for a whole year opposite that beach before settling down in Sichuan Province... you should tour the inland, its full of Mango plantations, and very nice scenery also.

We went to Sanya in 2013, and I don’t remember any Russian. It was my first trip to China and I was a bit overwhelmed, so I might not have noticed. Lol When we left Sanya, we took the train to Haikou, beautiful scenery the entire trip. I can’t wait to go back!

This was home for a year while teaching. I don't miss that announcement on repeat at Dadonghai Beach. But Yalong Beach is stunning out of all the beaches in Sanya. Yalong is far out away in the outskirts, far from the downtown area.

I liked this video was very beautiful coastal beach I liked when you climbed the mountain, I liked the various obstacles. I also liked the nature and the shots from above. I also liked the beach where there was a nice little restroom and also the chairs were very nice. I also liked the Marazies where I would buy different items such as dramas and necklaces. I also liked the crab shop. I also liked the shopping area where many seafood and animals were sold.

Hi, Poppy, I heard it’s 144 hours stay without visa for many cities in China. But for Hainan, it’s visa free for 30 days if you’re from the list of 59 countries.

The Hawaii of China is actually Sansha in the South China Sea but it's not opened to foreigners for tourism. Sansha is known as the “Maldives of China”

Nice vlog Poppy :) You definitely brought me back 3 years ago when I visited Sanya for 2 weeks. Hopefully you guys did more than what we saw on this video. There's so many cool things to do and see in Sanya, I guess it depends how long you were there. It's indeed surprising has a Caucasian tourist to be spoken in Russian. In my research before flying from Canada to Sanya, the tourist industry is fed by Russians, Chineese escaping he cold winter and retirees. You'll see a few Europeen(mostly coming on Cruiships) and almost NO North American like us. It was one of the reason why I decided to go visit Sanya, China. Thinking of exploring the North of Hainan Island in 2020. Love your travel videos. Keeep up the good work.Cheeers from Vancouver,Canada

I like Haitang Bay and Qingshui Bay actually because they are recently developed and the hotels there are relatively new, but Yalong Bay is still good enough since at least it is much closer to the city centre.

I have been to Sanya. It’s nice place Actually I am currently in Chengdu and really love the vibe of this city It was quite unexpected and the night life around Anshun bridge is really cool And then of course there are the pandas! If you haven’t been you should go, one of my favourite cities in China

I did a 6 day bike ride from Sanya up to Haikou. You hire a bike from a hostel chain, and stay in their hostels along the way, and leave it at the last place. The first hostel after Sanya has a wall with a painting I did of a Shaolin Kangaroo. They found out I was an artist and got me to do a mural. Pretty cool experience, and I left my mark.

I would love to go. Our media is full of manure. Here in the USA even in the Black and White TV days, Will or maybe it was Roy Rogers said "Don't believe anything you read and only half of what you see." I've found that to be very true. October and November are good season to travel to Sanya. As soon as the school starts (meaning summer break ends) there will be no crowds in popular traveling spots like Sanya. Try to avoid the Chinese New Year week, May 1 week and October 1 week. These are Chinese holiday weeks so there will be people mountain people sea. Other than those and summer break, feel free to visit anywhere in China. Crowds will be back to school and work places ;-)
